We called in on Monday evening only to find they don't do food on Monday evening. So pleased we decided to return last night. Steak night but they had run out of steak so we had gammon cooked to perfection with egg, pineapple, onion rings a lovely mixed salad and home made chips, and topped off with a choice of sweet. All for £10.Obviously the watering hole for the locals who were a very friendly bunch and made us very welcome. Just a mile from Gunby roundabout and well worth a visit. (more than one) More...

A charming country pub set in a picturesque village. It is full of friendly locals and staff who are willing to have a chat. They also serve amazing food here, there are many options and the ones that I have tried have all been delicious. There is also a log burner in the pub which gives a very cosy and warming atmosphere. Overall a lovely village pub, a good drinks selection and a good food selection too! Very friendly people and a great place to go! More...

Nice, cozy, warm and the food was very tasty and served on hot plates which to me is a plus. There had been an unexpected influx of diners before our arrival so we were warned that there would be a slight delay which was not a problem and the food was lovely. A cracking wee pub. Lovely food, lovely beer, lovely atmosphere - well worth a visit. Do yourself a favour and have a few days away from it all, book the cottage, enjoy the local area, kick back and relax with a nice meal and couple of pints in the evening - can't beat it! !! .I want to add to my original review - the Haddock & Chips is to die for. My wife said she'd had enough chips, so Sue suggested she have Haddock & Salad - wow, what a winner, don't know why it's not on the menu to say it was awesome is an understatement!! If you visit, you've got a real dilemma LOL More...

We have stayed at Thornside Cottage which is adjacent to the Wheel Inn and owned by Sue and Nick. We have had two meals so far and have thoroughly enjoyed both equally. Large portions, the haddock is very good and a must have, also the mixed grill. Very friendly locals and Sue is very accommodating and approachable. Highly recommended. More...

I think The Wheel Inn pub has completely turned itself around. Now run under new management since August 2015, I am extremely impressed with the new menus and service from behind the bar. I must praise the Sunday lunches as they are absolutely fantastic and always come out piping hot, served with sides and gravy. The chefs apple pie and custard is my absolute favourite, I always ask for a portion regardless of how full I am after my meal - it's THAT good. The quality of the food itself is splendid and is a perfect pub to sit in on a cold winter night, eating the grub next to the log fire. I've also had the chance to stay inside the Holiday Cottage and I am very impressed. Inside the cottage was not what I imagined at all. It resembles a house with a double bed, ensuite and a lounge, kitchen and dining area. I stayed here for my birthday weekend and it was perfect for a relaxing weekend break away. It’s good to know the holiday cottage also has free wifi. I would 100% recommend visit The Wheel, and the owners will really look after you. Make sure to try the steak from the pub also, one of the best I’ve had in ages! More...

My girlfriend and I decided to book in for a meal at The Wheel Inn on a Saturday night and we rated the pub very highly. We were staying over in the cottage opposite the pub on a weekend break and we didn't fancy cooking a meal ourselves, so we opted for some food and beers over there instead. We were very impressed with the high standard of service and we were quickly seated at a quiet little table and were given a menu to look at. We ordered some drinks which came over to our table in great time and I ordered the fish and chips off the menu. I was told by the chef that the fish was freshly caught that day in neighbouring Grimsby and you could taste the freshness. My girlfriend ordered a medium rare steak which was cooked to perfection accompanied by chunky chips. Both meals came out piping hot and it's fair to say you definitely receive generous portions! The Wheel Inn is a great little pub which I would highly recommend a visit. More...
