Wauwinet is at the Eastern end of the island and apart, away and separate from all and worries of the world. Wonderful food is available from Toppers Restaurant, there are bikes to ride and all creature comforts are provided for. ||The best thing is the absence to any pressure to even think about the outside world. The well tended gardens allow spaces to sit and read or just sit. The view over the water from a manicured lawn becomes magical when rabbit emerge to nibble on the soft grass.||A short walk will take you to an ocean beach were the water is clean and fresh. I forgot my stressful job and relaxed. The staff are friendly but unobtrusive. Free popcorn in paradise. More...

Superb country inn. Excellent location. Friendly staff throughout. Laid-back, unintrusive, but seem truly interested in their guests enjoying their time. Activities/bicycles were included in price. This was our first stay, were in a cottage, older with small bathroom, but charming. Highly recommend. More...

My wife and I stayed here for four nights and had a wonderful time. The hotel is fairly remote but not that far from town. They have a very convenient, complimentary shuttle the runs back and forth to town on the hour. They also have a complimentary boat ride at 4PM that will take you to town and Captain Rob will give you a primer on the history of Nantucket on the way.||The setting is beautiful with a big lawn and small beach overlooking the bay. They also have a private beach access to a quite leased beach on the Atlantic. They will supply you with towels, beach chairs and umbrellas.||The hotel sits on the beginning of the over sand beach area that goes all the way out to the Great Point Light house, one of the most remote and prettiest spots on the island. ||The hotel is nicely appointed with classic Nantucket decor. All of the common rooms are extremely comfortable||We had a cottage suite that had recently been renovated. It was spacious, with a fire place, an incredible new bathroom and a bed that you just did not want to get out of.||My only gripe was the lack of certain elements that should be standard in and upscale hotel room.ie Coffee maker, wine/cocktail glasses. We had a fridge but it was empty and should have at least been stocked with water. They tell you that they will get you whatever you want whenever you want it but I waited over 1/2 hour for a wine opener.||Despite this, the cherry on top of the experience is the service. Everyone was impressively professional and really nice. More...

Overall it was pretty great. Maybe its because it is such a high class hotel that most guests dont like doing certain things themselves, but for me this lacked certain things I usually enjoy in most or all hotels at which I stay which says a lot since this was probably the most expensive hotel or resort at which Ive ever stayed: - coffee machine with complimentary bags of coffee in the actual room - vegetarian room service options for lunch and dinner - a mini-fridge in the room - late night room service (if I remember the room service was a only available until 10pm or 11pm); this is a much bigger problem than normal when combined with the lack of a mini-fridge and lack of local late night third-party delivery options - a complimentary breakfast that extends beyond 9am and that includes more than just pastries and coffee - more water availableOverall, I very much enjoyed our stay. I know I am person who sleeps later in the morning than most and stays up later at night than most, and I am person who drinks a lot more water and coffee than most. But I frequently found myself hungry and thirsty. More...

My girlfriend Megan, treated us to a 3 night stay at this gem of a property. We were greeted with a big smile and a warm welcome to the Wauwinet from James, who took our bags and led us into the front desk. Another warm welcome and smile from Ali behind the front desk. We arrived quite early, 8:30 am so we didn't think our room would be ready but to our pleasant surprise, it was, thank you so much Ali and Capt. Rob for our little secret, making us feel like VIPs. Thank you Natalie, also at the front desk, for your patience. We got there on Memorial Day, and it was in the 50s so there was a chill in the air and the wonderful aroma of a wood burning fire place in the cozy living room. At 4pm there's an assortment of cheese, Port and Sherry and the GM, Erick, might make an appearance, throw a log in the fire place and say hello (if he's not too busy) . The Inn offers a van to get you in and out of town which is about 15 minutes away and Riken and Omar were the drivers as well as Stephen who drove while the drivers take their dinner break. We spent most of the day sitting on very comfortable chaise lounge chairs relaxing, looking out to the Bay and reading. Gabriella walked over to check if we needed anything, we were ok at that point but we did make a reservation with her for dinner at Toppers where she works as a hostess. The service and presentation was first class and something on the menu for everyone. Thank you all for making our stay a most memorable one, Corky More...

I broke two of my travel rules here. !. Stay in small Local hotels. 2. Never eat in a Hotel restaurant. SO happy I did. I fell in Love when I walked into the Lobby. Then I sat on the deck ( I never "sit"), and I did not want to leave. The welcome Champagne, Sherry and Cheese reception was excellent. The entire Staff were incredibly friendly, responsive and professional. They created a "family atmosphere" where guests became friends. We sat on the porch for hours talking with amazing people. Dinner: We had made travel reservations in town, but the Hotel restaurant looked amazing. IT was impeccable. Truly a dining experience I will not forget. So happy we stayed. Definitely try the oysters, farmed r300 ft. from the Hotel dock. Our Cottage room could not have been nicer. A quiet garden setting surrounded by windows letting the Nantucket wind in. You will wrap yourself in the lush Pratesi linens and never want to leave. I could not resist a brisk ocean skinny dip by the Hotel beach. AMAZING!! Coffee and Croissant in bed and I was phoning home to quit work. The worst part was Leaving. WILL RETURN. More...

From the second we checked in the front desk staff, Concierge Joe, Jack of All Trades James went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Toppers, the restaurant on premises, is excellent and again the staff was terrific and made us feel right at home. It was Figawi weekend so town was chaotic but super fun but when it was time to get away back to home at The Wauwinet it was like being taken to another completely serene universe. It is the exact opposite of town and very quiet, peaceful and relaxing and a nice way to recharge. We stayed in cottage 406 which I would highly recomend and it has its own fireplace. I would highly recomend the Wauwinet to anyone who is looking for a peaceful oasis in the craziness of Nantucket More...
