We love, love, love the rooftop of the Tremont House. The lobby is small but pretty. Great staff very helpful. The breakfast venue in the lobby was not worth the cost. The fruit was good but the eggs benedict was not good. Regular scrambled eggs were not good. More...

Our stay at the Tremont House was fantastic. We only stayed overnight so we could be close to the port for our Disney cruise. Check-in was relatively painless -- my mom called ahead of time to make sure I could check in under her reservation since I got in a few hours before she did. Everyone at the front desk were extremely helpful, providing us maps for local shops & restaurants to visit. The location is fantastic -- it's in the middle of downtown Gavelston. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to walk to if you want, and about a 10 min walk to the port.We had two connecting rooms -- one room was larger than the other (you know we picked that one as our room lol). Both had a really classic vibe to it. Large ceilings for a room not even at the top floor. So cool.My only complaint was how the room was laid out. The TV was off to the side, and not directly in front of the beds. So, we spent most of our time on the couch facing the TV if we wanted to watch something. We went up to the roof top bar to check it out but it was far TOO windy and cold to stay for a long time. The bartender and servers were still friendly and nice despite us immediately leaving because of the weather! We ended up getting drinks downstairs in the lobby bar, and the bartender (I forgot his name but he was great, and deserves all the praises!) made some great Christmas drinks for us... I had the Christmas Old Fashioned (I forget the actual name) and my wife had the mulled wine. Overall, our stay was great -- we even had breakfast in the cafe downstairs. They have a Starbucks machine, but their breakfast menu is limited and doesn't have the traditional breakfast (ex. eggs, bacon). It was more artisanal which makes sense because this hotel does have a classy vibe.If we find ourselves back in Gavelston for another cruise, most likely, we will select Tremont House again. It's in a great location, and it was awesome to walk to the port and not have to arrange for transportation. Thanks for having us! More...

Decided at the last minute to go to Galveston for a weekend with the Wife! After looking at several hotels online, decided on the Tremont. I had stayed there before at a managers meeting after it was renevated after the hurricane!Very nicely done inside and the rooms are really tastefully done! They had a lite jazz band in the lounge/lobby!Went to our room and all they had was an inward facing room to the lobby. Unfortunately you could hear the band all night. If your a lite sleeper, beware!Last night we were there they opened the roof top bar. The weather was perfect, no wind and 68 degrees! Fantastic views of town at sunset and slowly seeing the lights turn on as it became dark!I really like the hotel except for the one problem. It's also a short walk to the Strand! More...

What a beautiful spot in one of Galveston’s historic buildings! We stayed in 222 the night before our cruise. The entire building is beautiful inside & out, enough to make my wife’s jaw drop the moment we walked in. The hotel staff is so friendly & knowledgable from the valets, the luggage attendants, the front desk, to housekeeping. The room was clean, elegant, and spacious. Bathroom had a tile here & there that looked like it’s seen a thing or two, but we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, for sure! More...

We were traveling to Galveston to help a precious family move after they endured a tragedy in their family. They needed a new start and Galveston was just what they needed. We had reservations at a different hotel near the beach, but had some issues checking in that they could not resolve and didn't seem to want to try. So, we were able to get a room at the last minute on a holiday weekend at the Tremont House. We didn't know a thing about it, but we would stay again in a heartbeat!  The price was fair, especially considering it was a holiday weekend. The hotel is gorgeous!  We loved everything!  BEST BEDS WE HAVE EVER SLEPT ON IN OUR LIVES!  I wake up every day at home sore. These beds were amazing. No pain at all!  The bathrooms are so wonderful. I love all things older. Such treasures!  I have read a few reviews saying they need updating, do not listen!  They are perfect!  Exactly how they should be. Gorgeous in fact. The entire room was. Our stay was better because of the service and people at the Tremont House Hotel.  Parking was not an issue at all. Always found a spot on the street after 6 so we didn't need to pay a thing. We aren't fancy, but they didn't treat us any different than the folks checking in who were :) Enjoyed every moment! More...

What an outstanding place . This is my second stay at this establishment and I consider myself lucky to be able to stay there. This is an old world , charming place with all the modern amenities . The bathrooms are a little garishly monochromatic and it takes the eyes a bit to adjust but it's worth it. This is a beautiful hotel with gracious old world charm and is in a great location . I got upgraded to a suite , the size of an apartment . It was wonderful . Room service was prompt but the food was not great . I'm sure they're not trying to become famous for their food - it's not bad food . It's okayish. If you're in Galveston - it's worth a visit . More...

Surprised my 5 year old with a nights stay and from beginning to end the staff was incredibly sweet and just as enthusiastic as my son was about his “fancy hotel room”. Room service cuisine was off the charts delicious, valet was exceptional and everyone we came in contact with including front desk as well as maintenance crew gave high fives to my super ecstatic child . When we checked out and were headed out the CHEF even offered to help with our small luggage. We are local to Galveston and this was just a mini staycation before school starts, we were so very impressed. Thank you for the great stay but also catering to the little guys! Also, the shuttle to the Galvez pool was awesome too! We will be back and recommend to all our friends! Doing a fabulous job over there! ❤️ More...

I have stayed at many of the hotels in Galveston since I had a client there for about four years. I always wanted to visit the Tremont but never got the opportunity to. This past weekend, I decided to do a little get away and stay there. All the staff I encountered were over the top pleasant and helpful from the check in hostess to the luggage and shuttle guys, bartenders and what I believe was management. They did put me in Room 420 which raised my eyebrow at first. lol I was traveling alone but not really wanting to be in the party room. If I had one complaint, it would be that the couches, etc. needed to be cleaner but I didn't use them at all and it was Room 420. lol I later realized the floor I was on was supposedly the most haunted. They actually did a set-up on YouTube in Room 424. I watched a few of those videos before going to bed. Speaking of bed, the bed was amazingly comfortable...all the linens were soft and clean. The shower was awesome...great pressure...room at a comfortable temperature. So, I do have to tell you I did hear noises in the night coming from the ceiling/roof. Other guests reported that as well. I know the only thing up there is the Roof Top Bar and it closed at 10 so by 4 am, etc. when I was hearing these sounds, there was probably not anyone up there? Honestly, it's a Roof Top Bar...I don't know how management handles that. Maybe night employees go up there to take a smoke break or talk on their cell phone? Maybe a squirrel or raccoon scaled the building and was walking around. I can't say the sounds were "ghost related" but there were sounds. If you stay at the Tremont, you have access to the Hotel Galvez pool area which was very nice but for a late Sunday night with school either back in or about to be, it still was pretty busy. I was able to dip in the hot tub and take a quick walk through the pool. The shuttle service could use some tweaking. When they said 8:30 or 10:30 or whatever, that means they will depart before that...not show up then. It's confusing. The staff did give me a ride once the shuttle left without really notifying anyone they were there. Once I was ready to leave Galvez, I learned the 11 PM cut off was incorrect on Sunday. They stop at 10 PM so I had to Lyft back to the hotel which was fine. I got to enjoy sitting in the Galvez bar area for a bit. The Tremont is located in a perfect position for all of the restaurants and shops on the strand. The building is gorgeous. I would highly recommend it. There is much character to it, and the staff is really on their toes to make you feel right at home. More...

Phenomenal hotel. The service was stellar, the decor was fresh but with old school upscale coastal vibes, the rooftop bar was incredible, and the rooms were super comfortable. The atrium in the middle created an open, airy charm, and allowed the live jazz to flow throughout the hotel in the evening. The location was also phenomenal, PLUS they have a free shuttle to the cruise terminal, which is super convenient if you are taking a cruise out of Galveston. They'll even bring you back for free after the cruise. The fitness center was well-equipped and spacious too! I would without a doubt stay here again. More...

We stayed here 1 night and it was very elegant. The room that we had overlooked the courtyard and was very quiet. It was very different from your average "hotel" type room. It is downtown and you do have to valet park. At the time of this review it was $18 and they add it onto your card. Of course after you tip the valet then it gets pretty pricey. There is a bar inside the hotel along with a restaurant and then a rooftop bar. We stayed just to try something different but if you are like us and do not drink, you may want to stay in their sister hotel, Hotel Galvez (where we would give a 5 star review!!!). All in all very upscale, posh and elegant! Just bring cash to tip! More...

Words cannot describe just how pleasant our stay was last weekend.  My wife and I were celebrating our 28th anniversary and it was magical.  30 years ago, we had our first date at the Wendeltrap Restaurant (no longer there).  It was so memorable, that we decided to recapture the experience.  The hotel and staff did not disappoint.  We always make it a habit to pop our heads into the hotel every time we visit The Strand for a day trip, but there is no doubt that we will be coming back to spend the evening.  A special shout out to Tracy, Eric and Michelle.  Thanks, all!
