I had a 1 hour full body massage by Sarah Sellick as a Christmas gift. It was exactly what I needed! I'm a rugby player and train as much as I can not only on the field but also in the gym, as well as working full time as a Landscape Gardener. Sarah's brief chat prior to the massage was to determine what I wanted from the massage so it can be taylor made to my requirements. Sarah is very knowledgeable and friendly and that was clear throughout the session. I would highly recommend going to see Sarah and will certainly be going back every 8 weeks! More...

Bowen is a gentle, non-invasive remedial therapy that offers effective treatment for a wide range of ailments. It is essentially a muscle release technique developed by an incredibly talented body worker called Tom Bowen in Australia some 40 years ago. The Bowen Technique therapy is now available on many private healthcare policies and is recognised by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. It has been practised in the UK for approximately 15 years.

During the treatment a series of gentle, rolling type moves are made over muscle at key points of the body using fingers and thumbs. Each set of moves is followed by a rest period of roughly two minutes to allow your body to respond with maximum effect. There is no adjustment or deep tissue manipulation and it is not a form of massage. For this reason it is suitable for all age groups including the very young and the very old. Treatment can be performed directly on the skin or through light clothing. My sessions normally last approximately 1 hour and three treatments, at weekly intervals, are usually sufficient to achieve lasting relief.

Bowen is a holistic treatment; we treat the body as a whole and don’t just focus on the problem area. The body works as a whole, and therefore it is possible and in fact usual that a chronic back ache actually originates from tight hamstrings, or that a shoulder problem has started in the neck etc. I aim to get to the root cause of a problem and address it from there. Through receiving treatments for unrelated problems, clients have also noticed improvements in conditions such as IBS, hay fever, hormonal imbalances, high blood pressure, depression, sleep disorders, constipation, headaches and many more.

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, non-invasive therapy which enhances physiological functions by the use of sensitive and gentle mobilisation of the Craniosacral system. This system extends from the bones of the cranium, the skull, to the sacrum at the base of the spine and extends to every cell of the body via connective tissue. It is based on findings about the body’s subtle make up by osteopaths in the USA over 80 years ago.

The Craniosacral system also comprises cerebrospinal fluid, which bathes and cushions the brain and spinal cord in a tide-like ebb and flow. When this fluid is allowed to move freely around the central nervous system, it promotes a state of well-being, health and balance.

Sometimes the gentlest approach can achieve the most profound effect. With Craniosacral therapy, you stay fully clothed while the therapist places a hand on you. This gentle ‘listening’ touch (palpation) encourages various areas to release and relax, and monitors the response of your body.

The ability to ‘palpate’, to ‘feel’ the subtle, rhythmic force of the Craniosacral system, allows the therapist to discern your body’s own resources of health. Craniosacral therapy works with your body to magnify and reinforce its natural tendency to heal itself.

Real success has been achieved with symptoms like back pain, migraine, stress related illnesses, colic in babies, digestive problems, chronic pain, tinnitus, ME, autism. As well as being helped with specific suffering, patients also tend to feel much better in themselves generally.
