The Sutherland, Estate & Gardens

I had fallen in love with The Sutherland years before I was ever engaged from when my cousin was married there several years ago, so when it came time for my now husband and I to book a venue, I knew right where to start. Not only is it a stunning property, but the customer service we received throughout our whole planning process helped us be sure it was the perfect venue for us. Christy was our wedding planner and she couldn't be more amazing! She was very accommodating with us since we live out of town and had to plan a lot of things remotely. I am also a very detail-oriented person, and even when I was blowing her inbox up with questions or multiple emails at a time, she was always sure to address my every question in a very timely manner which made me feel at ease with the whole planning process. There were even small details on the day of that I hadn't even thought of or expressed how I wanted it to look, but Christy and her team went above and beyond and everything turned out perfectly on our wedding day. We used Christy Ethridge as our wedding planner and she was amazing! Her patience, kindness and attention to detail were much needed in order to make our day happen. Christy knows how to control a crowd, juggle everything thrown at her and roll with the punches. It doesn't hurt that her knowledge of other vendors in the Triangle area is extensive and super helpful when figuring out who to use as well. We chose the Sutherland for many reasons, but what initially drew us to the property was it's location. The Sutherland happens to be right next door (and I mean right. next.door) to my home church that I grew up in, Wake Union Baptist Church! We had heard wonderful things about the Sutherland and their staff, but we were blown away by the impeccable service they had to offer. When we toured the property, we fell in love and had no doubt in our mind that it was the perfect place to host our loved ones and begin our journey as husband and wife. And we were right. Christy was our planner for our wedding and she was beyond amazing! I could go on and on about how incredible the staff and Christy were, but there's no better way to describe it than this: After the wedding, my bridal bouquet went missing...which wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world, but my late grandfather's dog tag was attached. Christy and her team were determined to find and it literally got inside the dumpsters (TWICE) to make sure it hadn't been thrown away. It wasn't there, but they continued to look for days. Half-way through my honeymoon, I received a text message from Christy that included a photo of her holding the dog tag. I was convinced I would never see it again, but Christy and the staff at the Sutherland never gave up and made sure that it got back to us safely. I am immensely grateful for everything they did to ensure our wedding day was the best day of our lives, even after it was over. By far the best decision in my wedding planning process was choosing The Sutherland as our venue! Christy Ethridge was kind, talented, encouraging, and extremely organized. I can't imagine pulling all the details together for our day without her help and guidance. We were married at The Sutherland on 3/2/19 and couldn't be happier with our decision to host our event here! We looked at a few properties but I had my heart set on Sutherland as soon as I arrived. It's a breathtaking property and even more so on our wedding day. The planning process can be overwhelming and tough- but Christy (planner at Sutherland) was so thorough and detailed which made me feel at ease. I knew I could count on her 100% the day of - and she went above and beyond my expectations. We made the right choice by selecting The Sutherland Estate and Gardens as the venue for our daughter's wedding. Every detail was taken care of with professionalism. The house is gorgeous with plenty of southern charm and provides a wonderful background for the bridal portrait as well as the grounds surrounding the property. I was able to enjoy the day with Katie and her attendants and not worry about anything. Christy Ethridge was absolutely wonderful and was by our side during the entire planning process and I can't thank her enough for all the help and attention to detail she provided. Wow! All I can say is Wow!! The Sutherland Estate and Gardens was the perfect venue for my November 2018 wedding. The grounds are breathtaking. .. from the walled garden to where our ceremony was held, the side of the house and oak tree for cocktail hour and the indoor pavilion for the reception with market lights! Not to mention how much fun it was to get ready inside the house with my bridesmaids!! The Sutherland staff and Christy Ethridge were fantastic to work with. Christy was our day of coordinator but helped us out frequently in the last few months leading up to the wedding. They think of every detail so EVERYTHING goes perfect and smooth on your wedding day. I felt 100% confident with Christy and the staff to help us pull off a flawless wedding day and all I can say is that I don't think I could have dreamed of a more beautiful day. My husband and I worked with Christy Ethridge at The Sutherland and she was OUTSTANDING! I planned a good bit of the wedding from out of state and Christy was incredibly accommodating to me. She even took a few hours to give my mom a separate tour after we booked at The Sutherland so that she could walk through it again and feel more comfortable. The whole team at The Sutherland are rockstars. They made our wedding day so incredibly seamless. If there were any problems or if anything went wrong, I had no idea! And that made it such a relaxing, wonderful day for us and our families.
- Also I want to note that the forecast had scheduled for rain to start at the beginning of our outdoor ceremony and Christy did everything she could to keep our vision of an outdoor wedding. My Daughter held her wedding reception at The Southerland in February of 2017. I live in Raleigh and my Daughter lives in DC. My Daughter had very distinct ideas of what she wanted for her wedding and Christy executed everything seamlessly. There was no issue with planning from out of town.
