Just a stone's throw from the Train station, this is a gem of a hotel! Staff are so friendly and welcoming. This was our second visit, and both times our room has been more than worth the money. It's got sloping floors, strange angled walls and buckets of charm. Yes, it could do with an overhaul but how can the owner do it when they charge so little? We stayed in the cheap classic room, as a last minute resort due to the Lovat closing its doors and telling no one. You get what you pay for with the classic room. It's old. Beds are ok to sleep in. The floor/carpet looks disgusting. The room gets 2 stars, but it's the dinner that gets the 4, maybe 5 stars. Very tasty! They even have a vegetarian menu. Breakfast is a bit generic - nothing special but plenty options available. So if a couple were staying, i would not recommend the classic room, but I would recommend going for dinner. More...

Can't comment on rooms, just went to restaurant. Had fish and chips in the huge dining room and was very good. Pint also good. Was surprised considering the dated decor, obviously refitted in the 70's or 80's to tastes of the time. Architecture Scottish baronial style with crow stepped front facing gables and two non identical towers. Interesting yet a bit sad, was probably a very high class hotel in the early 20th C. More...
