A wonderful pub now. New owners have done the place really nicely, especially for the summer. All really friendly and the beer is all local from West Berks Brewery. Family has eaten there and we're equally impressed. More...

Pros: Very nice place for quick stay. Rooms are specious and with lots of character. Food is very good!!! Our dog could be with us all the time (allowed everywhere).
Cone: few battles with toilet. you need to pomp it few times for it to work (for the price I would expect it to work first time). No fridge in the room. If you get a room with widows looking out to the main road you are down for a suprise with the amout of noise/cars at night. Staff is very young and the lack of experiance shows. We have been left waiting few times not knowing where to go for dinner/ breckfast/ to pay. Lack of information/direction.
Regardles the cons section 4stars. At the end we had a nice stay.

Fantastic, unhurried friendly service. Great food. We arrived for coffee at 11am and left after a jolly relaxed lunch taken in the garden at 4:30pm.

Lovely friendly pub - a great lunch (we had the lamb to share) and a nice sunny garden. Works underway to build a new orangery out the back and open up the bar area/wine cellar (due to finish by Christmas 2018) are being well managed - no workman on site whilst we were there for lunch and the finished extension looks like it'll be great :-)

Great!!! Middle of nowhere (no joke), but I am so thankful to our local contact for bringing us there. Great food, great ambient.

Perfect for a country escape. You'll be looked after well, and the food is really excellent (try the Ox cheeks if you want something hearty). Add in a couple of open fires and the place feels warm and comfortable. Beds were also very comfortable, but the bedrooms were perhaps 4 stars rather than 5. I'd highly recommend. More...

Great atmosphere, food, service. Private rooms make dinner with a group of friends into a special occasion. Highly recommended.
