It was a life saving experience for me. You can temporarily leave the outside world behind and focus on your recovery. It was fun too. You really get to know your fellow guests there too. The meditation, the yoga, the food, the Saturday family visits and outings with your peers. I am so happy I took the time to learn how to begin my journey of life without alcohol. I am following the program and having wonderful results. More...

At the Ridge you will find a wonderful place, where the entire staff cares very much about each and every client. The counselors are the most knowledgable, helpful and dedicated then I could ever hope for. The program focuses on all important aspects of recovery, from education and information to health and well-being. I recommend the Ridge to anyone in need. I loved it and the people there. It was difficult to leave. You become family. I owe them more then I can put into words. More...

The Ridge has a top notch Clinical and Medical staff that easily differentiates itself from other addiction treatment organizations in the Midwest. Additionally, I would argue that the facilities themselves are among the best in the nation as The Ridge features a beautiful mansion set on more than 50 acres of picturesque rolling hills. It's a great place to enter recovery and, more importantly, remain in recovery thereafter. More...

The Ridge is a stellar treatment facility. I learned an incredible amount about addiction and this place changed my life. They kept us busy with a good balance of activities, including fitness, yoga, art, music, as well as the numerous classes that the counselors taught. The food there was also excellent - clients will not go hungry. I made valuable connections there that I will keep in the years to come; in just 30 days, I made lasting friendships with the people in my group. If you are nervous about receiving treatment, don't be. At the Ridge, they will provide you with everything you need to make a meaningful change in your life. More...

This is a great recovery program combining all aspects of mind, body and spiritual in their recovery process. The staff is very professsional in their approach to your recovery and work with you in groups and individually to insure the best possible outcome. I have been to several treatment clinics and this has been the best I have experienced. I highly recommend the program. More...

Deciding to get treatment at The Ridge was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! The environment was clean and comfortable, and came equipped with a caring staff. The 30 days spent learning about my addiction was life changing. Between the amazing doctors, councilors, PSMs and staff, I acquired all the tools and knowledge to help further my recovery and sobriety. I would recommend this treatment center for anyone who is struggling with addiction. It changed my life in so many positive ways. More...

Accredited residential facility, with family education offered in the month long treatment for the client. Medical director is ASAM board certified, resident psychiatrist is assistant medical director. Clinical counsellors are Ohio certified. Very impressed with team approach and approach to their clients. Facility offers ongoing family and alumni education that is so important in the after care component. Interventionist service is a crucial component and was in our experience done with sensitivity and grace. All staff work in exemplary fashion. More...

This place saved my life. I have many cross addictions and The Ridge gave me the education and confidence that makes me the sober person I am today. I haven't had a drink in eight months. I have gone from being just an existence to having a meaningful life. Thanks to the staff and doctors for giving me a life worth living. A special thanks to Kat, Will, and Mary Jo. If you are looking for the absolute best in addiction treatment you can stop searching and give them a call. Once again, great thanks to the staff. To whomever is reading this. Good luck. The staff is top notch. All of the counselors are knowledgeable in the field of treating addiction. Kat is the most caring counselor I’ve ever had. She truly puts her heart and soul into the clients at the ridge. Will is amazing as well. He is old school and some of us need that. Dr. Whitsett cares about each and every client and is a very experienced doctor. Dave is a fabulous chef with a bright smile and great attitude. Great treatment. Coming to the Ridge was the best thing I’ve ever done. If you’re looking for residential treatment here’s why I would always recommend the Ridge. - from the first call after my inquiry the staff immediately came across as passionate and caring about helping people get into recovery. Mary Jo is perfect for what she does and I’ll never forget our first conversation. John was very responsive. - the rest of the staff is equally passionate about their work. They really take the extra effort to make you feel at home. Everyone is nervous checking in but from the beginning of the process until leaving, they made me excited to be where I was. - the physician is incredible! He is beyond passionate and incredibly caring. His knowledge of addiction and lectures are priceless and very rare to find. - the counselors are top notch. They helped me through very difficult times and seems delighted to. Their knowledge and understanding is great. - the house itself is big, but very comfortable and homelike. Really makes recovery a peaceful process. - they take you to AA or NA meetings and the house votes on where. This is great for preparing you for the real world and establishing sober contacts- they are great for family education, their lecture series are priceless for the family members with loved ones suffering from addiction. They go over and above working with all family situations. -They work hard to get you set up for recovery after leaving. They only recommend great sober living and outside services.-1 year of after care is included with top quality counselors. These are two hours a week and one hour individually monthly. -the staff is mostly in recovery. Giving them a real life point of view and a great understanding of individual perspectives.-the food is very good. Expect to be full during your entire stay. Dave goes over and above accommodating specific dietary needs and personal preferences. -4 days a week at the gym, meditations in the morning, yoga twice a week, and recreation after lunch out every Saturday is very helpful and something everyone looks forward to. Overall, I would not recommend anywhere else especially in the tri-state area. Compared to other well known treatment centers they support all recovery programs(AA/NA, Smart recovery, etc) with a focus on cognitive behavioral therapy and the 12 steps. Comfort is definitely a bonus but their programming really sets you up for recovery in the outside -one day at a time More...

The Ridge saved my life. I am forever grateful to them, staff included. I have had two 30 day stays at the ridge, summer 2017 & fall 2018. The program’s curriculum has improved greatly and they offer family support sessions. PSM, counselors & doctors are all very involved & you can tell that most of them truly care for the clients...this is more than just a job for them. A lot of the staff are recovering addicts/ alcoholics themselves which greatly helps, You are learning from someone who has walked in your shoes, giving you guidance on how you can improve your life. They give you hope you can do it too just as they have. I would recommend anyone to the Ridge if they are looking for help fighting their addiction. We found the Ridge at our most vulnerable point; we were scared and uncertain of what to do after being released from the hospital. The owner, John McKay, miraculously answered his phone on a Friday night. He listened to our story, made the necessary phone calls, and arranged to have our loved one admitted as soon as possible. I kept thinking there must be a "catch" - no managing partner could be this gracious, compassionate, and sincere. John McKay has proven to be all of those attributes and more; the incredible staff at The Ridge embodies these characteristics as well. The staff relates to each patient, and the patient's family, on a personal level; every story is important and their approach and investment in the patients and their families is sincere and authentic. They are aligned in their vision and approach to treatment and recovery but focus on the individual patient and what is best for him/her. The knowledge of Dr. Whitsett and the counselors is unparalleled - they not only understand the disease of addiction, they have an incredible ability to explain it in such a way that the complexity of the disease becomes understandable and approachable. In turn, family and friends leave feeling much more comfortable (and supported) in helping their loved one through the recovery process. The Ridge became a safe place not only for my loved one but also for our family. Every visit on Tuesday evening and Saturday mornings, I found myself surrounded by incredible kindness, compassion, and camaraderie. I valued the opportunities to get to know my loved one's counselors, doctor, and his housemates as well as their families/friends; we felt part of the recovery process from the very beginning which in turn has made the transition home from The Ridge much smoother. I know that the counselors, the doctor, and even the owner, John McKay, are a phone call away. My family continues to attend the family education opportunities even now that our loved one is home; I am still amazed at how much I learn, how much I am supported, and how much they are still assisting our recovery process months later. The staff (from the beautiful Mary Jo who greeted me by name the first time I met her, to the counselors, to the van drivers) has become our support; they not only saved the life of our loved one, they have given us all new friendships, endless support, and renewed hope. I am, and will forever be grateful to the incredible staff at The Ridge - not only for what they did for my loved one, but what they have done for our family. I will look back on this time and not solely remember the dark days leading us to The Ridge, but I will remember the compassion and support we found at The Ridge. More...

I came to the Ridge terribly ashamed! Alcohol was running my life with a furious contempt. I felt very alone and afraid. The staff at the Ridge understood this. I was immediately comforted by their unwavering willingness to calm my fears. The beauty of my surroundings encouraged my spirit as I fought for the battle of my soul. The counselors solidly led me to seeing those issues in my life which were haunting me. They never flinched if I needed to discuss something right away! They helped me face many of the problems I was drinking over. The food was deliciously eaten each day while I got to sit and share with the other clients who were also trying to recover. That sense of being alone began to diminish at meals. I was also given the tools to manage a sober life in the outside world; this alone gave me a solid sense of strength to move forward! The Aftercare program was a powerful way to vent my frustrations in recovery. There, I could clearly be open with a counselor and others like me! It was a definite help during that first year! The Ridge of Ohio saved my life! Today I am over four years sober because of this incredible place and because they introduced the 12 Step program which I live by each day. I thank God for the Ridge, its amazing staff, and its comfortable home where I grew to transform into the person I was truly meant to be! More...

There's no way to truly encompass everything The Ridge Ohio has done for me into a Google review, but I'll try.Rehab and treatment is traditionally presented as days of drudgery, a traumatic experience intended to punish drunks and junkies out of their self-destruction. However, The Ridge goes entirely against the rehabs seen on terrible reality television and melodramatic movies.I spent 30 beautiful days with fellow addicts digging into many angles of the disease of addiction. Everything from the education and therapy sessions to nights spent at the kitchen table laughing together was part of figuring out a new way to live. At the end of the program, not only did I have a plan for success, but I also had a new family full of amazing staff and clients. As the Big Book says, “The feeling of having shared in a common peril is one element in the powerful cement which binds us.” Joining The Ridge community was one of the best decisions I've made. I recommend that anyone who is seeking out recovery for themselves or a loved one check it out.Not only do you get the initial 30 days of treatment, but there's a year of aftercare included and a great alumni program that keeps you connected throughout sobriety. I can't say enough about the counselors, aides, and other staff members who help to put together this experience. I eternally indebted to them.PS: The food is amazing. Chef Dave is a god amongst men. This place deserves a billion stars for what they do. When I say for what they do I mean when someone is hurting with an addiction disease they will go over the top to help out the client and the family. My wife is a client and even tho my heart breaks everyday I wake up and shes not sleeping next to me I cry. But, I know she is in a great place to get the much needed help she needs and deserves. The staff go out of their way to make it possible for us to be able to one afford the high co pay. They make you feel wanted and help you hold your head up high. Most if not all staff are in recovery so they know how you feel and what your going through. They give you tools to help set up a process for your recovery and go out of their way to help even after leaving. This place is the best becasue they actually help you through the process and are not all about the money. If you are looking for the best place to go and get help for disease this is the place I would and will recommend to anyone. They way they hold seminars and lectures to help familes and others better understand the desease is great. I can admit I was once one who said its easy to stop....why cant you just stop...just don't buy it anymore....becasue of the ridge I have a better understanding of the struggles and medical problems with any desease that causes addiction. I beg you id you are suffering from an addiction and believe nothing will help....just call and ask questions....they will not judge for yhe person on the other end of the phone is in recovery themselves and will help you in anyway possible. Just call...your family loves you, your kids love you and the staff at the ridge loves you. And if for some reason you relapse don't think for one minute that they will turn you away...they know they have too....we, would like to see you come back rather than think you are alone and go back to your addiction and die. Please call and ask questions...for I do not know you personally but...you are worth it and they will help you...i can not say it enough...just call...thank you to the staff, doctors and coaches. You are what it takes to help other fight for their lives. More...

The ridge is a wonderful place to help you get a grip on your disease of addiction. The ridge caters to only 15 clients at any given time. The chef at the ridge delivers a fine dining experience at every meal such as , lamb chops, fillet of beef , the best meatloaf I have ever tasted, taco night is a true Mexican experience. All the meals are homemade and the chef uses only the freshest ingredients. The in-ground pool is exceptional as is the sauna room . My personal favorite was the stocked pond. I caught several bass one was 26 inches in length, I had a witness ha! The best part aside from the queen size beds and very comfortable mattress is the staff. They are caring and assist you in every way possible in a kind and respectful manner. The groups are exceptional ! I learned so very much about my addiction . The Client Safety Monitors and the counselors are tops in their field. If you need treatment give the ridge a call today. I graduated from my treatment on August 11, 2018. The ridge is truly an incredible place, and can do incredible things for those who are willing to take on recovery seriously. I had never been to any type of treatment before but the ridge offered everything I needed in a wonderful setting. The property and house are second to none and give you the feel of a vacation setting rather then the gloom of a hospital setting. The food is exactly what you need, 3 nutritious meals a day to restart your body. The staff could not of been more helpful as well. Any questions, or requests they always did their due diligence to answer or resolve. Paperwork for work and dealing with leave of absence they were able to help me navigate new waters with ease. It’s been over a year since I checked into the ridge, with the foundation they gave me I was able to get a new lease on life. You don’t have to worry at the ridge and can really focus on yourself and getting to the root of the problems you are facing. John Mckay was right there helping me with finding a bed for Logan right away and helping me with Insurance, and reassuring me that he will get this taken care. And he did!! He was amazing! Then the day of admission Lindsey was so comforting to Logan and I during this tough moment and explained everything so well and was very sympathetic! She was awesome ! Being in a dark hole of addiction is terrifying, however, from making the first call to the ridge, until the graduation from the program was extremely comforting, and enjoyable. Their are some amazing people who work at the Ridge, and genuinely care about your well being. The food was unbelievable! I'm talking 5 star Steak Dinners, Chicken, big breakfast etc.... The rooms are large, and the beds are comfortable, you feel like your at home, except nicer! The schedule can be rigourous somedays, where there isn't a lot of downtime between groups, that would be my only suggestion, is to allow alittle more downtime for RELAXATION. Going through opiate recovery is extremely taxing, and sometimes you just want to curl up in a ball and sleep, I wish they had alittle more time for that. However, they get you out of the house daily, which is really nice, going to outside NA and AA meetings daily, as well as going to the Movies, and bowling, and the gym for excersising. I left the Ridge with the tools to live a sober life, but more importantly I felt I left the ridge a better person, and with the tools to live out a better life. I enrolled in the 52 week aftercare, and that has been nice to keep me fresh on the road to recovery! I recommend the Ridge to anyone who genuinely wants to get Clean! The Ridge for me was life changing. I was very nervous entering rehab and I had absolutely no clue what to expect. The place is completely magical. Everyone from the admission ladies, doctors, counselors and the PSMs were amazing and so helpful. What makes the ridge so special is the bond you make with the other clients and how you basically become family with them. The ridge has a great set up where you get to see your family twice a week and during those times lectures are given about the disease of addiction. After your graduate from the Ridge you are given the option to join in their aftercare program. Aftercare is a 52 week program were you go to the Ridges outpatient center called the Northland and learn more in depth about your disease and have some amazing group sessions. Kat was my counselor for aftercare and she is top of the line when it comes to this disease and counseling. She can not only relate to the clients she is also always available and always understanding to every situation. She is a great listener and her honest feedback always is beneficial. I am very grateful for the opportunity I had to receive treatment from the Ridge and from Kat's aftercare program! My son has only been here about 6 days, but I'm writing now to say that so far from my first initial contact with Mr Makay, he took my insurance information, told me upfront what my out of pocket expenses would be after insurance. Then on the day of admissions Todd Whal was very nice, explaing the whole admissions process, and told me the visitation days and hours.I did have one real concern, I wanted to make sure that my son would be at what you actually see in the brochure, he put me at ease by taking me to the house to see for myself, that put me at ease for my 4.5 hour ride home. When I talked to my son for the first time, I heard happiness in his voice, he said he liked it there, the staff was nice and he is learning a lot.Let's hope he continues to grow and change and learns how to cope over the next 3 weeks there, upon his return home, I will write another review. I am the Mother of a client. Within the first week at The Ridge my life and my son's life transformed. The Ridge provides a safe, educational, and judge free environment. Our family has experienced recovery centers as far as Utah... The Ridge was right here in our home State. I am truly blessed that someone recommended the Ridge to us. I highly recommend families to attend the Tuesday night classes with their loved one. The only way to describe the staff at the Ridge is "real" . They explain the way an addicts brain functions, how to cope with your situation, and provide group sessions as well in which loved ones and clients share common ground. The counselors, guest speakers, and group sessions provide therapy not only for the addict but for the loved ones around them. I do not have one negative thing to say about the Ridge. The Ridge is a life saving facility in which the Client comes first. The impact the staff at the Ridge had on my son saved his life. I am forever grateful. They also offer aftercare and alumni programs following the impatient program. Few centers offer a better environment to recover from the effects of addiction than the Ridge. They offer excellent residential care and counseling for those suffering from addiction, as well as a comprehensive educational and healing experience for their families and loved ones. Most treatment centers concentrate almost exclusively on the addict, but often little thought is given to the families of addicts, who have also suffered negative effects in the process. The Ridge offers classes on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings to educate the affected families about the nature and cause of addiction. This disease , is still greatly misunderstood, even though addiction is affecting more and more families across the United States today. I would recommend this fine facility without reservation. In my opinion, they have some of the finest professionals and counselors around, and they offer a full-year of after-care and counseling after the treatment to help the recovering addict stay on his or her feet and remain sober for life. The Ridge provided an excellent setting for the recovery of a loved one. All of the staff was highly professional and the chef even catered to a vegetarian diet. Can't say enough about the importance the Ridge played in my loved one's recovery! There's no place in the Tri State that has the quality, setting and overall experience of The Ridge. More...

Perfect. Staff was outstanding, very organized, warm, caring, helpful and truly there for me in EVERYWAY. Days were well planned but not overwhelming. Food was delicious, always plentiful. Perhaps a little more chocolate would have been nice. (I'm female). Sobriety was the main theme but also encouraging self esteem was a big issue for me. In closing, I would highly recommend The Ridge to anyone wanting to beat addiction of any kind. I sincerely LOVE everything about my stay. More...

I just wanted to take the time to tell everyone how awesome The Ridge has been!! If it wasn't for the Ridge answering my call I would have lost my family member to their addiction. The Ridge treats their patients in a different way with innovative ways to the traditional treatments. If you do not address the underlying reasons for the addiction, then it will not be successful. They treat the person as a whole. I would recommend this facility to any other in the country!! I have my family member back, and will be forever grateful!! They are over 4 months sober, are happier than I have ever seen them. To hear that addict thank me for saving her life, and in reality it was humans coming together to save a life!! Thank you for all you have done for all who cross your threshold and may God Bless You All!!!!!! Saundra More...

To whom may concern: There are know words to describe how grateful I am for "The Ridge". From the beginning, the staff made me feel like my health and well-being were the most important things at that moment. I've been to several treatment centers but who knew that the treatment program right in my "back yard" would save my life! Great food, relaxation, and hospitality motivated me to work the program provided. "The Ridge" helped give me the tools to sobriety. And today I am 17months sober and "Living Life On Life Terms." Thanks for helping me save my life!! More...

My name is Mary Kay, today is Mother's Day. May 2016. Last year on this day I was admitted to The Ridge; It was the best Gift I ever received from my daughter Michelle,Her ability to locate, review and set into motion the steps to admit me, with the help of John McKay was beyond description. Through this program at The Ridge I regained my life back!!! That Mothers Day of May 2015 was by far the lowest point of my life. I was in my late 50's. I went to Nursing school when I was 28yrs old I had 3 small children and a wonderful husband. I graduated at the top of my class. My children all excelled in their life's as well. I felt so blessed with life..,all my children had college degrees, two had Masters. They were all happily married with great careersSuddenly my world took an horrendous turn. My husband was afflicted with Cancer..stage 4. He died in less than 4 months. During that time my Daughter got pregnant because she knew her Dad always wanted a grandchild; and she felt guilty that her pursuit of furthering her career was more important at that time. But now she prayed her Dad would go into remission and have a Grandchild. Well unfortunately he died and never knew she was even pregnant. The loss was horrific. And to make life even more unbearable she went 38weeks and delivered a stillborn child after 10 hrs of labor. After that my younger Sister passed away throughout everything my Daughter Michelle maintained a sense of courage and strength to me. She saw how I began to unravel and turned to alcohol as a crutch. I entered into a toxic relationship that I believed initially would save me; instead I became worse. I had been a Flight Nurse at the top of my career but when my husband died. I slowly began losing every stitch of the tireless life I strived to obtain I was so lost in my addiction I could not even see how sick I had become. The Ridge enabled me to gain back my self respect and realize how much I almost lost. I was always proud of the fact that I had discipline and control of my life. Now I realized that was gone .. I was literally destroying my life and those around me The Ridge had the ability to allow me to realize that with their professional assistance and guidance I could maintain my inate control, yet with their help, regain my life back. Not only did I lose my own self-respect. My children and friends were losing faith in me. I cannot even sometimes believe where I am today after 30 days in The Ridge and 1 yr later .I am once again an RN at a major renowned hospital, I just bought a new house. My children all respect me once again. I have not had a drink in a year and more importantly I have no desire to have one. I feel so alive and self-empowered once again. I cannot Thank the professional, caring and compassionate staff of The Ridge enough. I will forever be grateful to John, The Owner and Director who personally assisted my Daughter to admit. me to this Establishment and in so doing love myself and LIFE. once again ! More...

The Ridge was definitely different from what I expected. Everyone was very nice upon my arrival. The care and treatment was different in that they educated me about my addiction. They taught me that it was not a "moral" mistake that I was making, but a disease that could be treated with willingness, therapy, and time. The facility is beautiful and the staff members are respectful, kind, and some are recovering also. I'm glad I choose The Ridge as a step in my recovery. More...

If you are suffering from the disease of addiction and want to get better, the Ridge is the place for you. The program is superbly designed, offering a truly comprehensive, personalized, holistic approach to recovery. The staff is excellent; the counselors, for example, are extremely knowledgeable, caring individuals. The attention paid to the whole individual -- including everything from nutrition & exercise to building a social support network (all of which foster the process of long-term recovery) -- is likewise very impressive. The gratitude I feel for the experience I had at the Ridge is beyond words. All I can really say is that if you are reading this and feel trapped inside the private hell of addiction, or if you are a concerned loved one who wants to help but doesn't quite know how, please consider the Ridge. I know because it saved my life, and set me upon a path of purpose and meaning, which previously I never thought was possible. More...

As one of the largest intervention companies in the country, The Ridge has been a key resource in helping our intervention clients start new lives in recovery. We have visited the center on multiple occasions and they have always been very kind and welcoming. The accommodations are spectacular and well maintained. The clinical levels of care are top notch. I would recommend any client to the Ridge and feel more than comfortable with the overall experience. Keep up the great work and we appreciate all that you do! More...

I cannot say enough good things about The Ridge. The doctors, counselors, techs are all fantastic. They are friendly, competent and knowledgeable. The entire staff made me feel at ease. The information I learned from the staff at The Ridge was instrumental in helping me to understand my addiction as a disease and not a personal flaw or weakness. The small number allows the staff to really focus on your problems and solutions. Being a part of the mental health field, my anonymity was extremely important to me. The Ridge handled all of my affairs with my employer and my insurance company in a professional and confidential manner. If you want a program that will work with you and your family to teach you about addiction then you have found it here. I highly recommend taking a look at The Ridge if you are looking for drug or alcohol addiction treatment. More...

My name is Andrew Wesseler, I am a drug addict. Today, I am free from drugs and alcohol. I attended a treatment at the Ridge Inpatient facility in the fall of 2013. You may wondering if this program is right for you or your loved one. I can not answer this question for you. I can only share my experience, strength and hope that I may help you find your answer. You may ask an addict why he or she uses. I am not surprised that they can not answer with a response that is fully satisfactory. It is not in logic or personal gain that I had made the decision to use and to this day I feel that it is a question that can not be answered with certainty. However, our concern is not with the question, nor is it with the problems and issues of a life ravaged by drug abuse. At the Ridge Inpatient and Northland Outpatient Programs the goal at hand is the solution. I will not ramble about the high quality staff or the latest information made available to the patients and family members, which is not to say that it is not deserved. I will only say that it has worked for me. Please do not be dissuaded or convinced by anyone but I urge you to do your research and find the answer for yourself. Remember one thing above all else; We are fighting the disease not the person.Yours truly,Andrew Wesseler More...
