Fantastic venue! Quirky, inviting and brimming with personality. The incredibly talented Clare, who teaches at the Studio has offered invaluable advice and direction which is in a different league to any training I have received in the past; offering a perfect blend of technical training and improvisation which has not only led me to see immediate improvements in my own ability, but also ignited a passion within myself which I had forgotten was there. The venue itself is in a great location, just by Highgate tube and a wonderful contrast to today’s clinical and commercial London. The owner is integral, encouraging and hard working; and has invested years into this project - totally worth it, I would say, for such a cracking venue.I wish I had discovered this sooner.Mx More...

I urge fellow musicians, audiences and those looking to hire a flexible, economical original space in London to consider the Red Hedgehog. I am fortunate to have given circa twenty piano recitals at this warm, colourful venue and have always enjoyed the experience immensely, I was treated in a highly professional manner and was very impressed by the vision that creates such an ideal performance space within metres of the Archway Road. I know many of my colleagues shared my views. The Red Hedgehog should be seen as a beacon to inspire others to bring high quality music, drama etc to their community. Happy to award five stars to such enterprise. More...

This is a unique venue with bags of potential. Its layout may not suit every event but it would suit those with imagination to make the space work. I received a warm welcome from the proprietor on every occasion and she worked hard to make our event a success. Okay, not everything was right at the outset but I can't fault her enthusiasm and sincerity. She has a passion for theatre and greatly encourages everyone in that endeavour. More...

A wonderful small venue. I can well understand that places like this exist only because people like Clare, who I gather runs the place single-handedly and unpaid, work around the clock to keep arts projects such as this afloat. Given the enormous challenge of running a small performance venue in central London with high rents and no funding, what she has achieved is very impressive. She deserves respect for her commitment to the arts and young artists in particular and I look forward to supporting the venue on many future occasions. More...

Sadly I can only give this venue one star. And that is only for the potential it could have if it were managed better, or ideally, by someone else entirely. I found the owner, to be disrespectful, dishonest and sadly completely abhorrent.

I feel that as a patron of a venue you should be made to feel welcomed. However we were greeted with hostility as if us being there and spending our money was an inconvenience to her. Any interaction with her was incredibly uncomfortable, and often met with heavy sighs, grunting and eye rolling from her.

However what was worse than her poor attitude was her blatant disregard for customers. Of course things happen that you may not always have control of -for example the overrunning of an event prior to this however rather than communicate what the delay was with everyone who was stood outside waiting, she instead scolded us. As if it were unreasonable to knock on the door of a building that looked completely closed - when you were expecting to go in for a show.

I am torn between thinking that she either genuinely tried to sabotage the event from the beginning or that she just has no idea how to treat people with any respect whatsoever. Either way the result ended in me being incredibly disappointed. I have never experienced anything quite so terrible before.

Note: This has been edited to remove the full name of the owner. Also unfortunately i have removed another paragraph that although completely factual is hard to prove after the fact. It is not in my nature to document every negative thing that I see - however one thing I have taken from my terrible experience here is to always document anything I dislike/disagree with for future reference.

This was done at the request of the owner after she contacted various people multiple times in order to get me to take down my review, using emotional blackmail, threats of legal action and generally erratic email and phone calls.

Sadly I can only give this venue one star. And that is only for the potential it could have if it were managed better, or ideally, by someone else entirely. I found the owner, Clare Fischer, to be disrespectful, dishonest and sadly completely abhorrent.

I feel that as a patron of a venue you should be made to feel welcomed. However we were greeted with hostility as if us being there and spending our money was an inconvenience to her. Any interaction with her was incredibly uncomfortable, and often met with heavy sighs, grunting and eye rolling from her.

However what was worse than Clare's poor attitude was her blatant disregard for health, safety and hygiene. She sold overpriced beers which were long out of date. This could have been forgiven, or marked down to an accident if it wasn't for the fact that she was spotted intentionally refilling people's discarded wine and reselling the dirty drinks to consumers. Disgusting behaviour. It is a total wonder how the establishment hasn't been shut down by the local authority.

I am torn between thinking that she either genuinely tried to sabotage the event from the beginning or that she just has no idea how to treat people with any respect whatsoever. Either way the result ended in me being incredibly disappointed. I have never experienced anything quite so terrible before.

I really liked this little café. Music venue. Normally with established classical artists, but also acoustic sets, this is a nice quiet atmospheric café to go to. They serve alcohol and nice homemade food. It's a unique, arty room, with a house piano, very intimate. Go here if you want a cake, some live music and warm setting. Very romantic. More...
