I absolutely love this place. The prices are low and the service is always great. The staff is very friendly and quick. The food is always fresh and tasty. If you're in the mood for some pork or turkey this is the place to go. I always order the "Proper Slopper" and it is excellent everytime. Some of the best BBQ in the Cleveland area. I liked their notice (on the website, and on their door) that they are only open till they run out. Gives the impression that the offerings are fresh / not reheated. The BBQ'd bacon was very good, nice and spicy. The coleslaw was not drowned in sauce. My daughter turned 1 on 7/12, and for whatever reason she loves ribs! My wife, myself and my daughter came in and everything was great. The service, food, atmosphere. We got the proper slopper sandwich, great! Half rack of ribs. Smokehouse beans. As we were leaving, and employee said “here, for the birthday girl” and gave us a banana pudding dessert. I'm a Texan born and raised. I'm on a little trip here in Ohio. I had an uber driver who was originally from Texas and warned me that the BBQ up north is terrible. However I decided to give the Proper Pig a try. I was greeted by incredibly friendly employees, they made it feel like home. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich, and it was so delicious. Nice and juicy, a sweet smokey flavor, and they even have sweet tea comparable to that of home made sweet tea down south. The atmosphere is equivalent to that of every other good smokehouse I've been to. Very cozy, warm, welcoming and it just feels like home. I thought I was back in Texas again during my time in the Proper Pig. The Proper Pig Smokehouse has earned the approval of a true Texan, and I'm thoroughly impressed by how authentic everything is. Decided to stop in the proper pig for an Impromptu lunch and I was not disappointment. I have tried to the food truck before but never actually made it to the brick and mortar. . SOOOOO good. The smoked turkey was incredible. So tender and juicy, the brisket had an excellent bark on it and the RIBS.. omg you don't even need bbq sauce.. (although the bbq sauce was delicious) simple, no frills bbq. They also had some great local beers available. Market garden citramax is one of my favs and anytime it's available, I'm GETTING IT.
