This is the best place that ever happened for my lil dog Noah ! The staff treats him like family. I know he is a handful but everyone there loves and welcomes him every single time like he is a brand new puppy. The care takers and the groomer has called to check on us if we have been away for to long. This staff is golden . We adore The Pooch Pad ! More...

My dog looked absolutely adorable after the grooming appointment.... I’ve always been told that he doesn’t like his nails clipped, the Pooch pad told me he was perfect and didn’t give any issues. Guess a change of groomer environment is all he needed. Exactly what I wanted him to look like. A little toy. Thank y’all so much and for being so friendly!!! More...

My favorite place to board my lil fur baby in Houston!! I've been taking her here for the past year. The staff is AMAZING and she is always excited to stay. I would recommend any size dog to stay there! (Mine is a miniature labradoodle) Along with boarding, they do an AMAZING  job grooming. Kristi and the staff at the Pooch pad rock!!! More...

Being nervous about where you take your pet is normal. You can trust them. I have spent a few hours watching them work as a contractor helping them out. They are the same when you're not there as they are when you are. They leave TV on for your dog and give them plenty of attention. More...

INCREDIBLE. I have been boarding/taking my 60 lb boxer to daycare at The Pooch Pad for the last 2 years. Kristi and the rest of the staff have been phenomenal and made me feel so comfortable every time. I have no doubt that they truly love and care about my dog and treat her as one of their own. My dog absolutely loves it and gets so excited every time that I tell her that she's going there. I have never felt more confident that my sweet girl is well taken care of and happy than when she's at The Pooch Pad. I would highly recommend The Pooch Pad to anyone and everyone. They are simply THE BEST. More...

We love the Pooch Pad!! This place has been my savior since getting a little rambunctious puppy. My puppy loves coming and playing and is always so worn out after daycare. Prices are super reasonable. Highly recommend for boarding as well- they play all day at daycare (included in the price) which is a huge plus. Grooming services are also wonderful as well and the dogs always come home with super cute bandanas. The staff get to know each of the pups and it's clear they take care of them as if they were their own! More...

I took my pup to the pooch pad for his first day of daycare since we have moved to the area and I couldn't be happier with the service + staff! To start something that sets this daycare apart from others is that their temperament testing allows for your dog to spend the entire day at daycare the day of the temperament test if they do okay with other dogs. Since my dog has been to daycare before I really didn't want to bring him in for a temperament test on the weekend before I could bring him in for daycare. Their system with the temperament testing was a HUGE plus for me!After my dogs first day he was completely exhausted for the entire night! To me that is the test of a great daycare! If my pup comes home tired from playing all day I know he had a great day at daycare. I had asked about their grooming prices and they were very reasonable, another huge perk is that they will groom him during his daycare stay so I don't have to bring him in for 2 separate visits. Last but not least- they have the BEST prices in town and their location is super convenient for anyone working downtown. Highly HIGHLY recommend ! More...

We love The Pooch Pad! I've been taking my dog Lola here for doggy daycare, grooming, and occasional overnight boarding for years. The staff is great and extremely attentive. I feel like they genuinely care about my dog and her well-being. The dogs spend the majority of the day playing out of the kennel, and for those hot summer months, they have misters and kiddie pools to keep the dogs cool. Lola is always very excited when we pull up and exhausted when she leaves, a true measure of a good doggy daycare, in my opinion. More...

I take my best friend Phoebe regularly to spend a day with her friends at the Pooch Pad while I go to work. I've taken her there for almost two years.  They call her Princess there. When she gets to the gate she is pulling as hard as she can to get inside and sniff which one of her friends are there to play with. Her desire to be there tells me more then anything how they treat our dogs while we are gone. The women that care for the dogs are incredible. They are Phoebe's "other family".  I board her there when we are out of town (Phoebe thinks the are sleepovers)I can only tell you to give them a try.  Phoebe and I highly recommend the POOCH PAD. I just moved to Houston from Austin a week or so ago, and was worried about finding a groomer to help out with my 100 pound Great Pyrenees. Washing and brushing him can run well over $100 at many places. Fortunately for me, I stopped in to the Pooch Pad to check out the rates. They said it would only be $65! I dropped him off and ran errands for the afternoon, and they worked their magic!! bear can get little dreads on his ears and behind and it is difficult to cut them out without him getting squirmy. It was obviously no problem for them! He was all brushed out, no more knots or tangles. They were so helpful and accommodating to my schedule, and kept him for a while after he was done so I wasn't rushed to get him. I will be back in a few weeks to get him brushed out again! More...

I first took my Squirt (Pomeranian) to The Pooch Pad for a haircut and boarding in September 2008. I was the typical nervous parent since I'd never boarded him before and really became anxious after learning that Hurricane Ike was on a direct path to Houston at the same time that Squirt was at daycare and I was in New York. When I spoke with the owner, I was assured that everything would be okay and that they were planning to stay onsite with the dogs throughout the storm. When I returned to Houston, I was relieved to know that my baby was in the best of care. He received the best lion cut ever. I've been taking him there ever since. I know the owner and the staff -- they take great care of the dogs and the property both inside and out are always clean (does not smell like a kennel). The dogs are separated into two play areas (inside and out). Squirt has a best friend named Billie there (maltese) who he has bonded with over the years. The Pooch Pad is his second family. I highly recommend them! More...

Love this place!  They let the dogs play all day long, and at night they go in their individual kennels.  They also get comfy, freshly washed bedding at night and plenty of toys.  When I've boarded my dog at other places (even the ones where I've bought the extra expensive playtimes), she's weird when I pick her up.  All of you who've boarded your animals know what I'm talking about!  But when I pick her up after boarding her at The Pooch Pad, she's just my regular ol' Maya Papaya.  Well, except for the fact that she's exhausted from all the fun she's had, and she sleeps for about 2 days straight after she gets home (which is a GOOD thing).  They've also been super accommodating with my crazy schedule and having to change pick-up and drop-off times. My fur baby has been going to Pooch Pad for almost 5 years - HOLY CRAP THEY GROW UP FAST. He loves it. I love it. I love that there is always someone with the dogs so when one enevitably gets territorial with the toys (usually mine), there is no fight. I love that there is a pool. My guy is a total water baby. I love that they work on training with him so he's not a total spoiled brat. I love that they have a big heart for dogs - probably bigger for dogs than humans - and I always see posts about rescues they have taken in. Small and big dogs are kept seperate. Tempermental dogs are isolated to their own yard. During the hot months, there is a mandatory nap in a kennel time so they don't get heat exhaustion. Oh and grooming! Drop your dog off and they let them play and get exhausted before bringing them in for a groom. I can't say enough good things about Pooch Pad. Waylon gets so excited when we round the corner, he starts drooling everywhere. I've also recommended probably 10 friends go there who have also become Pooch Pad 'lifers'. More...

Lucky just got back from her first trip to The Pooch Pad over the long weekend. She is now unbelievably worn out - she's been snoring all day! They provide all the daycare services when you board your dog, as well as food, so all you have to do is bring in your pup and enjoy your weekend. Clearly she was in great hands. Lucky is a bit timid at first, so they kept her at the front away from the other dogs for awhile and eased her into the playtime, and then she got along great! They have little pools and play areas all over the house, so if your dog loves the water it is perfect. It's not a luxury dog hotel, but this is the place for your pooch if they love having interaction with other dogs. The price is right for the good service and attentiveness they provide. I'll definitely be back for boarding and maybe some daycare too! More...

My shih-poo came outta this place grinning like the cheshire cat. She seemed to have had a good time while we were out of town. She gulped down a ton of water when we got home and threw up twice, but i think she was just really excited. She tends to yak when she over-exerts herself. I have boarded her at a different place before and i'm pretty sure she was pissed at me for it, because they brought her out and she barely wagged her tail. "F you mom" or something. She was very happy when I got her today, I like how they spend very little time being kenneled and are given staff attention (my girl was shaky and nervous at first). More...

My partner and I have used the doggie day care services of Pooch Pad for about two years now. My dog seems to love everyone at Pooch Pad. Overall I am very pleased with their services, prices and customer treatment. I did not give them 5 stars because on one occasion my dog was seriously hurt while at the Pooch Pad. I love the Pooch Pad!! When my little family (me, husband, and pup) moved to Houston, we left all of our family and friends behind. We knew that this meant no one would be able to watch our pup when we went out of town, and we'd have to find a kennel of some sort where she could stay, which I hate. A couple months before Christmas, I started calling around to find out the rates/availability for her to stay at a kennel while we were out of town for the holidays. I started to get really worried after I talked to a couple places who were already fully booked. Then, I called Pooch Pad. They let me know that they don't typically take reservations, but will do so for the holidays. They said they were nowhere near booked, and I had time to make a decision about if they were the right place for my pup. They explained that their boarding is $35 a night, and is semi-cage-free, meaning that during the day, the pups are in doggie day care (free to roam!) and then kenneled at night. What a steal!! Most places cost more than this, and the dogs are kenneled almost the entire day. My only hesitation was that my pup, while fine with other dogs, had never gone to doggie day care before. No problem, they said. They had me bring her in for a day of doggie day care to see if it was a good fit. Bonus: first day of day care is free!!! So exciting. As it turns out, my pup did great at doggie day care, and she actually seemed to really like it. We made reservations for her for 6 days for Christmas, and although she was not happy when we dropped her off, she seemed to be in good spirits when we picked her up. We called to check on her, and the staff was great--gave us a funny story about her jumping up in a reclining chair when it was time to head to the kennel--and never gave me a feeling like we were bothering them by calling. About a month later, we left her again for 6 days while we went on vacation, and this time my pup was excited to head into the day care when we dropped her off! Again, we called once to check on her and they happily gave us an update that she was doing great. She will end up going back for a few days a couple more times, and although I still hate the idea of leaving her with someone who isn't family, I feel so much better knowing that she is at Pooch Pad. She seems to have fun, gets great staff reports, and comes home happy and dirty from playing with all the other doggies. I highly recommend pooch pad if your dog is socialized and would enjoy a doggie day care style boarding!! They are great and make me feel that my baby is well-taken care of, which is priceless. Other bonuses: 5% off if you pay cash (which is like $10 of savings when they stay for a week!); they separate small dogs and big dogs; they're great about following your instructions for feeding schedules, even when it's a little complicated (ie: 1/2 can of wet food mixed with one baggie of dry food twice daily). I heart the Pooch Pad.My sweet lab is not the most social dog(with other animals).  The Pooch pad has found a way to not only take care of her happily and without complaint, but sends her back smelling sweet and clean each time. Ive used their day care service, boarder for several days at a time as well as get them groomed here.  shaving a super heavy coated lab, makes for a happy lab during the summer.  They are always super friendly, offer Cash discounts and take excellent care of your pets!Highly recommend. My lab is a very social dog. When I lived outside of Houston he did not enjoy daycare. He would run after my car and even figured out how to open the doors and go play with people. My job requires me to be at work for long hours and I often feel bad leaving him alone. When we moved to Houston, I decided to try daycare one more time before pursuing some of the more expensive options (dog walker etc). What a difference the Pooch Pad makes. Jake LOVES going to daycare, a mere mention of the word "Pooch Pad" in my house and Jake is at the back door ready to jump in the car. When I drop him off he cannot WAIT to be unleashed and go wait at the backdoor to go outside and play with the other dogs. Despite having a high volume of dogs, the Pooch Pad is one of the cleanest places I have been. I have never seen a mess or smelled an odor since being there. The staff at Pooch Pad know dogs and understand dogs occasionally need a "time out" and do a great job of giving dogs their own space before reintroducing them into the play group pack. As mentioned in other reviews, the price is great as well - but to me, having a dog eager to go to day care twice a week is the most important part. When we have utilized the grooming services, Jake comes home well bathed with nicely trimmed nails.  They also wait until the end of the day to bathe Jake so he can make the most of his playtime before getting clean! These people LOVE dogs and make it clear from the time you drop off until you pick up. The first time I took Jake to play, I forgot to mention he had cut himself playing too rough with another dog at the park the week before. As soon as I got to work, I had a phone call making sure I knew about the cut and inquiring if the cut had been there before. The attention to detail and care for animals is why we LOVE this place. Each time Jake goes to daycare, he could not get there quick enough and is always eager to sit and get his treat at the end of each day. I am BEYOND lucky to have such a great spot so close to my home and work! More...

I assume this is like if you don't want to move because your child [the kind with opposable thumbs] would have to go to a different [read: worse] school district. That's why I wouldn't move. I've been taking my four-legged, furry kiddo to Pooch Pad since he was around 8 weeks old - for the last 9 months.  Anywhere from 1 - 3 x week. I've been told it's the cheapest place in town [pay cash and it's only $20/day]. Either way, this is definitely the best place for my 50 lb monster. They don't baby him ... but they do spoil him. He gets to run around with lots of other playful monsters, play in the pool, climb in plastic castles ... and make new friends. He also is taught not to jump, how to share and nap time means nap time. He comes home exhausted and whines everytime we pass the house. It's disheartening to see negative reviews about a 'rude owner.' The only light I can shine on that is ... it's usually her and maybe 1 or 2 other staff looking after 10+ dogs, while attending to their owners, her business and answering the phone. Her first priority is making sure the dogs are safe and taken care of ... so she may have been distracted.  The only time she seemed distant to me was when she lost her best friend and Pooch Pad welcome committee,  Max - but when I came back that eve to pick up Waylon we cried together sharing memories of how wonderful Max was ... and I'd only met him months before. She - and her staff - are in this business because they genuinely love dogs. And if anyone would like to sponsor my man ... I'd take him there everyday. Also, I've only ever taken my monster to Petco for grooming but ... seriously ... Pooch Pad is WAY better and cheaper. More...

My dogs have been customers of Pooch Pad for 4 years. I have not once been disappointed by their service. I have referred many dog owners to this place either for grooming, daycare or boarding. They have all been very happy. Earlier this year, my dog was volunteering with Citizens for Animal Protection at the Dog Show at Reliant. Now we all know that this is the place where you see the best pedigrees, best grooming. But we have passerby coming up and complementing my dog's beautiful haircut and wanting to know where she got that done. For that to happen, it speaks a lot about how good her groomer is. My dog is 11 now, I will only send her to a place that is kind to her. This is my dog's favorite place and she is totally bonded with her groomer. We have tried 4 different groomers before finding this place. I understand that everyone has different expectation on how we dog owners should be treated but the bottom line is how well your dogs are treated. I trust Pooch Pad 120%. More...

After the initial experience with Pooch Pad, we brought our dog back for a day. We were packing and moving our apartment and didn't want him to a) freak out or b) be in the way. So we brought him just for doggie day care and he was fine and we have no complaints! More...

This is my first time writing a review. This is such a great place i felt i should.I must admit i was skeptical about The Pooch Pad's ability to do a good grooming job on my bichon. I had been to several groomers and was disappointed with all of them. On the first visit i was amazed at how great he looked and smelled. I would not consider another facility as " peace of mind" is priority.. More...

If you have a normal dog, meaning he or she likes to play with other dogs, sunbathe in the grass, get dirty, play with lots of toys and receive tons of affection then this place is perfect.  The Pooch Pad, conveniently located in Midtown, is a cozy Victorian house with a great backyard; the environment isn't confining or cold and offers the most play and social time I've ever seen available at any Houston kennel.  The staff is friendly and laid back, they'll work with you on drop off and pick up times.... unlike some places that will charge you an entire extra day if you're 15 minutes late.   The rates are very reasonable as well.  Yeah sure, you can pay $65+ a night to have your dog stay in a luxury loft with fancy satin beds but if your friend could choose they'd run for a comfy couch and the tennis ball at The Pooch Pad =) More...

We cannot say enough great things about The Pooch Pad! When our extremely active and vocal dog (he's half husky so he makes strange noises) was kicked out of another doggie day care for basically being too active for them (they like lazy dogs apparently), we shopped around Midtown for another day care. It was an easy decision once we stopped by The Pooch Pad. Our dog can't wait to go to "school" as we call it once a week and we get him groomed there once a month. They treat the dogs very well and love each of them for the unique dogs they are. Just drive by as see how happy all the dogs are - you can see them playing in the yard most days. More...

I can't say enough good things about the Pooch Pad...but honestly, it doesn't matter what I say...it's what my dog says. Every time she goes, she walks in the door with her tail wagging. When I go to pick her up she's reluctant to leave. What a change from her prior groomer - a national pet chain. I used to have to drag her in the door and she would start barking in the back when I would come to pick her up. She would practically run home!On top of what my dog has to say...I can say the ladies are very friendly and flexible. I'm paying less and getting so much more. I've been recommending them to everyone I know. More...
