Had a lovely meal, the waiter asked if we would like sweets and he gave us the menu but never came back to take our orders. After waiting 30 mins we went to the bar and got the bill, this was about 9.45 on sat night, staff standing at bar no one else in the place.

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast dinner (plus sticky toffee pudding for dessert) there this weekend.

Superb food, good value for money and great service too. We will no doubt be coming back again.

Lovely venue, great service and gorgeous food...they even brought cute tiny milk churns for milk with coffees..and they serve fruit gins which is a huge bonus....recommend a double rhubarb and ginger gin with tonic...lovely...would go again.

I ordered lambs liver, onions and mash potatoes and it was fantastic but my wife ordered Thai red curry which was disappointing, the chunks of chicken were tough as old boots and it was more a watery soup. We’ve eaten here before and always had good food so this won’t put us off as long as it was a one off.

Food has always been good here but unfortunately there seems to be some staffing issues. We arrived and were seated straight away and our drinks orders taken. We placed our food orders when our drinks arrived but then had to wait 45 minutes for the food to arrive whilst we watched other couples come in after us and get their food before us. We were going to order desserts but no one came to clear our plates and we didn't want to wait another 45 minutes for them. Told the man behind the bar about the wait to just get 'oh' as a response. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived but was nearly full by the time we left so I feel sorry for those people as the wait would undoubtedly be even longer.

The place is very relaxed and friendly, the staff are so helpful. Happy atmosphere and a pleasure to visit. The food was excellent and they accommodated our off menu request without hesitation. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back

Had 5oz gammon steak with chunky chips and garden peas. Asked for no pineapple and was offered an extra fried egg instead. It was lovely. Gammon steak cooked perfectly and great chunky chips. First visit and will go back again.

Staff were friendly and approachable. And the food was devine... I had the mixed grill and my mum had the tagliatelle.. both meals beautifully presented and were very tasty indeed.. I've eaten here a few times and have never been disappointed.. I would highly recommend this place..

We frequent here for a nice meal regularly.
Not only is it local to us but the food is amazing! Value for money & the service by the team on duty is always great. Such an attentive bunch & always makes us feel extremely welcome.
You HAVE to try the Pate & the Thai Curry is fab!
Heineken on tap too which is rare these days 👍👍

We had such a lovely evening. The pub is really homely inside and this creates a lovely atmosphere which is matched by the hearty homemade food. The staff were really attentive and looked after us and our little girl providing a sensible high-chair and crayons to occupy her. Even the fellow guests were a lovely bunch! We will definitely be visiting again

First time here tonight and my daughter and I absolutely loved it!!! A big thank you to the lovely staff both behind the bar and in the kitchen. The thick cut Chips were the best I've ever had!!!!!!!! Thank you all for making what was a nice quiet Sunday Meal out so enjoyable. This place is a credit to both the staff and the manager. Xx

Have been to The Plough quite a few times over the years. My friend and I usually meet here to catch up and chat. The last couple of times on a Friday have been made to feel uncomfortable. After our meal usually relax and chat. The first occasion left at 2300 after feeling uncomfortable, staff hanging round. Thought this was a one off. Last night had our meal, then allowed to buy a bottle of wine at 2130,we were chatting , then a member of staff came to clear the table, (fine no problem ) A few mins later came to ask if we had finished with our jug of water and glasses, which we were still using, but said ok can take away. This was at 2210hrs, thought it was later due to staff wanting to clear the table. Then a few mins later asked to pay the bill as it takes 45 mins to ' till up ' ( I don't want to know this as a customer ) Then a member of staff came in to check the windows, and my friend asked if they were closing, to which the reply was yes, I'm full of a cold and I'm in early in the morning. We finished our wine and left at 2305, which on a Friday night don't think is unreasonable. The timings on the bar say open till late!!. If there is a time to close the bar should state what time. Noticed on the last visits that the bar has emptied early, now I know why, it seems after the food has finished serving and tables cleared want the pub to shut. Been to other restaurants in the area where you are allowed to chill and chat after your meal at the weekends. Won't be back for a while, maybe in the afternoons but not at evening times

Been here a few times usually on Sunday for a roast dinner and always been nice, but this visit was awful after waiting 50 minuets for our meal it arrived only to look like half of it was missing !! “very poor portion” I ordered what was described as a gammon steak on the menu, but got a chunk of gammon that was so small it was hidden under the one onion ring on my plate along with the 5 chips and a few peas.. needless to say we left very disappointed and still hungry and with no apology from the staff I don’t think we will return 😐

Went yesterday...Sunday 10th June at 4pm.. With family visiting from Ireland, 8 Adults 2 children. We waited almost 50 minutes for our food.. The restaurant nor bar was not busy.. So no excuse... 3 of the orders were wrong.. & returned.. We asked for mayonnaise and ketchup and had another 10 minute wait... Desserts were served without cutlery.. We had to go find our own after a further wait. We chose not to complain as the manager seemed under pressure on his own serving drinks and taking food orders at the bar... We used to go here quite alot when the previous managers were there but we have noticed a steady decline in the quality of the food & the service since they left.. There never seems to be enough staff on a weekend.. The queue to the bar is sometimes out as far as the front door... Don't think we'll be rushing back again.. It's a pity as it has always had a great reputation..

Truly excellent from the moment John the boss greeted us at the door, his polite well trained staff made us comfortable and welcome. The food is superb with the experienced influence of choice and ingredients ....
Will certainly be coming again - this guy John has transformed The Plough and taken it to a much higher level with his varied experience in many city establishments. Get In - you will not be disappointed!

Call in for lunch with the children as we offen call over the weekend. Excellent Gluten Free menu. But there was a added bonus today as they had Halloween crafts going on. Fantastic, face painting, pumpkin painting, halloween photo booth and much more. Kept the children entertained. Fantastic!!! Look forward to the christmas one !!! Xx
