I came down today. Waited outside in a queue of 1 as there were 4 people in the shop. Finally went in after 10 minutes. Wasn’t greeted by staff at all and waited a further 5 minutes then had to leave. I understand it’s a busy period but with 4 staff in and two customers I would have expected at the very least a hello. Hi Anonymous, I'm sorry to hear this as we are always a friendly bunch. The review posted for the 23rd of December, is that right? We were manic Christmas week with orders going out so I can only apologise and put it down to that. We have been restricting numbers in the shop however to keep people safe. Defintely a one off! Cannot recommend highly enough. Very knowledgeable about everything especially the cheeses and well priced wines I chose with their help. The deli products are thoughtfully selected and unusual brands were good to find. The potted meat is as good as my mum made and there are lots of other freshly made foods cooked by themselves ....so I am now a regular customer even though I'm not local. Take out or small but comfy bar stool eating in area.
Accessibility - normal but level with the pavement shop door.
Car Park - pedestrianised area, but near by 1-hour on street parking in The Square or free car park (including parking for the disabled) behind the Co-op.
Staff - friendly and helpful.
Toilet - I didn't check, mainly a shop so may not have a customer toilet

The quality of the produce and staff at The Pickled Fig are second to none. A fabulous menu and wonderful stock. I will not go anywhere else for a deli sandwich, specialist meat and cheese and to have wine paired with both of those from their well thought out stock. I love this shop. Everything is incredibly tasty, extremely high quality and served by very friendly and smiley staff. My personal favourites are their toasted piadina goats cheese, spinach and chilli jam wraps, their home made sausage rolls and their toasted croissants with cheese and ham but it’s their incredible cheese selection that makes this little shop such a treasure.

The Pickled Fig sell some magnificent food, their sausage rolls are to die for. And then you have the desserts. So far we have tried the marshmallow chocolate squares, which are like a gluten free rocky road as they use nuts instead of biscuits. What’s your signature dish?
We stock approximately 50 different cheeses from around the world along with charcuterie meats and home roasted meats. Our Cheese and Charcuterie boards are very popular as well as our gourmet sandwiches, italian style sandwiches and homemade products.
How do you go about creating the perfect menu for your clients?
We work with each client individually and format a menu based on needs, number of people, likes/dislikes and of course allergies. Each requirement can be very different and we are flexible at The Pickled Fig.
What do you love most about your job?
Working with food and people. People eat with their eyes so all our food not only tastes great but looks pleasing to the eye.
What inspired you to start your own business?
A love of food and a Masterbaker for a father/father-in-law. We want to bring great quality food back to the highstreet as well as outside catering. That's why we opened the deli on Prestongate in Hessle.

Quality, professionalism and a genuine love of what we do. If we wouldn't eat it ourselves, we wouldn't let you buy it!!
