I attended a mummy MOT yesterday. My appointment was with Harriet. I didn't know what to expect and thought I would be told it was normal to still have abit of a belly/bulge after giving birth 4 months ago. I recently went to the doctors and was told to exercise and I felt like I was wasting their time. I am so pleased with the advice from Harriet, she really took her time explaining, listening and advising me what to do and what not to do. I came out of the appointment feeling really positive as I just wanted to know what I should be doing and I got so much more out of the appointment. Harriet done a full examination and watched how I was breathing and doing my pelvic floor and I was able to change my ways and get my breathing and pelvic floor to how it should be. I am so happy I went as I had been doing my breathing and pelvic floor incorrectly and doing exercises that could make things worse. Harriet is very knowledgeable and very thorough. I said I may forget some of the information passed during the session so Harriet sent me detailed information about the session and tips/advice. Can throughly recommend the Reformer sessions with Harriet. I'm enjoying exploring alternative ways of doing Pilates exercises on the Reformer guided by Harriet's expert knowledge. She has a real passion for teaching & drawing on her Physio knowledge to combine the two helping you build confidence & awareness of what your body can do. I'm finding strength & muscles that haven't been used in years! All the staff are so friendly, professional & welcoming. I attended the centre yesterday for a mummy mot 7 weeks after giving birth to twins. I was initially sceptical at how an hour could be filled talking about my pelvic floor. .. how wrong was I! Turns out I had been doing my pelvic floor exercises all wrong! Harriet was brilliant, I told her about some of the problems I was having, she examined me and put my mind at rest that my symptoms were a normal part of the body recovering after child birth and gave me advice on what exercises would be beneficial to help strengthen my core and aid in a stronger pelvic floor. I’ve booked back in for a massage and a follow up assessment in 2 weeks to check my progress and cant wait to start the Pilates sessions. I have just had an amazing mummy MOT session with Harriet at the Allerton Physiotherapy Centre. It took me such a while to find the right support to help me address health issues lingering 20 months after giving birth and making my life difficult, including incontinence, back pain and general weakness of my core muscles. Harriet is amazing, she is so knowledgable about women's health issues and she has offered me a wealth of different options and exercises to address my problems. But most importantly it was such a reassurance to hear that my body actually healed well from pregnancy and labour. I wish I had find you before but better late than never! More...

I recently had mummy MOT after giving birth to my second child. I found this really beneficial to fully understand how my body has changed during pregnancy and the safe way in which I can start to try lose weight and attempt to return back to previous fitness. The session allowed me to stop being so harsh on myself and to allow my body time to recover, while giving me practical steps. I have a much better understanding of the wonderful things the female body goes through to create a little human. I had my six week check up from GP and sadly this was very lacking, without having the mummy MOT then there would be much I was doing which could cause my body more harm than good, I would definitely recommend this service. The session is of a fairly sensitive nature, and was done with the utmost professionalism, everything was explained to me in a way that I was able to fully understand.
