We stayed for 2 nights recently. What can i say...other than amazing. The building is old and rundown on the outside however inside its a totally different experience. The 3 course meal was cooked to perfection and the simple yet effective dessert was a great way to finish it off. They had 2 young men serving us. So friendly and so polite, made sure we had everything we needed. The restaraunt was full and gave the same high level service to everyone. Jay and Dan. The rooms are comfortable and cleaned to a high level. The area is beautiful and we are so glad we listened to the recommendation from a friend. Keep the good work up! Will be staying again. More...

This hotel has had some negative reviews in the past, which I would say are no longer justified. There is clearly something going on to make it a very pleasant place to stay. There are some bedrooms still being refurbished, but ours (no. 3) was fully decorated and comfortable - and with a fantastic view across the garden towards the hills. The lounge is light and airy, with the same view. The ballroom has a super surface for dancing.|We ate all our meals in the hotel and enjoyed all of them. The hotel is set in a lovely location, and our room looked out onto a large paddock bordering the Wye. In the early morning, mist would settle on the tree tops, and was as good as I have seen anywhere. The hotel evening meal was good, and the buffet breakfast plentiful and fresh. There was a TV lounge and bar that can be used to relax in if you didn't wish to spend too much time in your room. The hotel is well placed for Ross on Wye, and a number of English Heritage attractions. I would stay again when in this area, as it also represents good value for your money. More...

Food was really good both for dinner and breakfast. The staff were really helpful. On a slight negative, some of our friends had rooms of both smaller size and smaller beds. A lovely location, right on the river Wye, great base for a variety of walks and only a short walk to two pubs that are well worth a visit, including the unusual river crossing by hand pulled boat (unfortunately out of use due to the river being in flood at the time of our visit). ||||The hotel itself is a little worn in places but the rooms are good, the bar comfortable and the food of good quality. We had a full breakfast, with lovely bacon and all the trimmings. Our evening meal was three courses with three choices for each. The sea bass was so lovely on the first night that I chose fish every night. Everything was cooked beautifully, including the fresh veg.||||Unfortunately the water pressure to my shower was low but it’s all I have to complain about.
