The Old Tollgate Hotel

Good food with a varied selection and nice ambience. However they use the same carving tong and knife for all meats. My wife and I don't eat pork for religious reasons, but others may have allergies so not good practice in my opinion.

Beautiful hotel to stay as well as just go for lunch or dinner. Lovely location. Plenty of parking. Very friendly and welcoming.

Ben,who looked after us at the Baby Shower yesterday, was absolutely amazing! We were in a private lounge which had been set up beautifully! ! He made sure we were 'topped up' with tea and coffee during the afternoon and the Afternoon Tea was delicious!! We had a fantastic New Years Eve at The Old Tollgate . The food was excellent, the Haggis (piped in by The Scottish Piper) was superb, and the disco brilliant. However, the ambience of the night was set by the staff who all dressed accordingly ( to the theme of the night) and made the evening so special. I love this hotel. Something different than hotels I stayed so far. Opposite of the bed is a Jacuzzi, not usual. Usually they have Jacuzzi in bath room. I loved to use it to read newspapers and to relax. The hotel itself and the surrounding very nice too. If I come again to Shoreham, I would stay here again. I miss also the fish and chip in the pub just in walking distance from this hotel. I tried later 'fish and chip' in other pubs and restaurants around England. But the one close to our hotel is the best so far. More...

A great place to eat after a nice long walk along the river Adur to work up an an appetite. Went on a Sunday afternoon which means they are serving a three course all-you-can-eat Sunday Roast. Plenty of options on the starters from meats/fish to salads to soup. Just don't go mad so you have enough space for the other two courses. Mains are several types of meats if you want, or a few meal options such as mushroom stroganoff. They are not stingy with meat . I went for turkey which was tasty and not dry. Plenty of vegetables on offer and all tasted great, particularly the cauliflower cheese. Feeling quite full, we went to have a look at the desserts. So many options. At the time we went up there was no one to ask about allergens and it's not written on the board so I went for the safe option, the fruit salad and ice cream which was fresh and delicious. Fabulous hotel in every way! The reception staff were cheerful, friendly and efficient. The double room was beautifully furnished , comfortable and very clean. The choice of food was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for the dining staff, who made sure our party of 17 people were very well catered for. Excellent restaurant for a roast. Hot and Cold starters, awesome selection of roast meats plus specials and fabulous desserts. Have as much starter and dessert as you dare and maybe even squeeze in some delicious fromage from the cheese board. A large hotel with two quarters, the Old Tollgate Hotel is located just outside Steyning in Bramber. Rooms are comfortable, clean and offer all the amenities you could expect. Breakfast is good, as is dinner.

Very clean Hotel with a very comfortable bed. What more do you need? Didn't try the Carvery but looked lovely. Cooked breakfast was served by very hot lady under the heat lamps.
