Starters better than mains, but credit to the staff: when I made a slight complaint that the meat wasn't to the standard I expected, they offered to replace with an alternative and deducted from the bill without prompt. Special credit to Lewis and manager James for the excellent customer service. More...

Some of the most friendly and welcoming staff you will come across. Great atmosphere and interior. Food is excellent and well worth the extra price you pay.

Great evening, staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely atmosphere, get there before 7 to get a few 241 cocktails in, they were delicious. I am lactose intolerance and they were very helpful when ordering and it was no issue to substitute items on the dish- this was fantastic as I have had issues at other restaurants in the past. Food was amazing :) overall fantastic evening! More...

The bar and atmosphere are great, but the food was underwhelming. For a drink and social vibe: great!

Great food, great vibe. The only thing that lets it down are a clue of the staff who were a bit rude to me when I came in recently.
I'm sure they'll be disposed of soon ;-)
Sorry I answered no outside seating but there is. Oops.

The old blind school never fails to deliver.
I have been to the old blind school 3 times now, most recently was the week beginning 16/07/16.
On the most recent visit I had the schnitzel. The dish came with fried potato.
The schnitzel was beautifully spiced and they got the blend perfect. Equally the fried potato was a nice compliment to the dish.
The criticism that I do have is that there wasn't enough to bulk the dish out, so if you're a big eater like myself then you will want to add a side to this dish. It would also be nice to see this dish come with a Jaeger sauce in the future, to add something different.

Visited with a group of six and was invited to wait in the bar area while our table was getting ready as they were quite busy. Sat upstairs and it is quite a loud restaurant so if you want somewhere quiet, maybe try elsewhere. But still food was beautiful and fairly well priced. Staff were very helpful and friendly. More...

It's fantastic to see how well this wonderful old building has been restored and updated... a great place to come for either a drink or a meal and impeccably decorated.
The food was beautiful (especially the beef and ale pie), the service was friendly, polite and unobtrusive whilst always there when you need it.
My one niggle was the speed of service, i.e. how quickly the food arrived. Starters arrived very quickly but there was quite a wait before the mains. Then a further longish wait for deserts. It seems that, whilst the kitchen staff certainly have the skills, they don't quite have the hustle of some of the other great restaurants in the city.
In terms of price you can't complain - it's not cheap but I'd say it's certainly great value. I'll definitely be coming back again, despite the wait. If they sort that one element out it could easily become one of my favourites!
