Fantastic views , wonderful food and very friendly efficient staff . I would highly recommend The Newport Restaurant
Lovely lunch with a view. Great staff
Overnight stay and tasting menu with matched wines was absolutely lovely. Very nice rooms. We stayed in the Scottish room which had a nice view over the Tay. The tasting menu was superb. The ‘snacks’ to start were delicious and a great indicator of what was to come. Couldn’t fault any of the dishes and wines were superb and plentiful. Breakfast was another treat with a choice of starters and main. Homemade warm granola was my choice followed by girolles, hazelnut and goats curd toast. I was not disappointed. Beautiful setting and views. Very relaxed. Not stuffy or formal. Tasteful and professional. If you are thinking about going get booked! More...
Amazing food, prepared with local and fresh ingredients for a fair price!
We had a meal at the Newport last night for our wedding anniversary. The food was gorgeous and the service was incredible! Best night out we have had in ages, would definitely recommend. More...
Beware of the cancellation fee. Genuine reason for cancellation only to find it has cost us £110 !!!!!!! Yes, £110, because my wife is genuinely ill. Accept this is an impact and understand some sort of fee should be due, but really !!!!!! Difficult position to take in a very competitive marketplace. No offer of a deal, just a flat charge. Try and do it and see what happens ! More...
Just back from a tremendous birthday dinner at #thenewport - phwoar !! Start to finish totally looked after (cheers for the fizz Jamie ) waitress knowledgeable and lovely manner, but the food OMG amazing - left totally stuffed and waiting on another trip ower the water taster menu ahoy, you can bottle the lemon curd mate - stunning - two scooper of the blueberry would be lush on a sunny day inside a teddy bear cone
Delicious food and great staff.
Absolutely sensational tasting menu tonight from the lovely snacks to start to the 2 deserts it was an absolute pleasure. We will be back
Unfortunatly only went for a drink but good atmosphere nd choice. .next time MEAL!!!!
Great service and staff
Gorgeous views, great food, friendly atmosphere and an elegant venue
The food and service were first class. The waiting staff were knowledgeable- unfortunately, with the windows being open to let in the fresh air, the Newport wasp population decided to sample the food as well. Overall a great experience.

Great food - amazing 4 course Sunday lunch - great service, great views and great staff - all very knowledgeable and helpful - highly recommend!!
Amazing dining experience. The food was all locally sourced and clearly had a lot of thought put into it. The service team were also excellent, nothing was too much trouble. My wife and I will return.
Tolle Aussicht...etwas zu fein angehaucht...
Amazing food. Fantastic service. Stayed open late for us due to the bridge back to Dundee being shut.
Lovely view with tremendous view
Amazing food, great service, fantastic location. Love it.
Amazing food and service. Can highly recommend. Beautiful scenery to dine
Divine dining with a spectacular view
We had the 6 course tasting menu and it was amazing! Lots of snacks between courses. Service was outstanding, very knowledgeable staff and food was delicious. Nice view across to Dundee. Well worth the money. Nice little added touch at the end because it was our anniversary. Would highly recommend. X More...
Lovely location and although quite expensive it is worth it.
Food,drinks and hospitality 5/5
Fantastic from start to finish! Our first visit and certainly won't be our last. The taster menu was a discovery in every course. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive and took time to describe each dish. I don't eat fish or seafood so alternative dishes were offered. Great value for money and we were fortunate to have a glorious evening with an amazing sunset to view over the Tay and Dundee. More...
Posto particolare con menù particolare tutto molto buono con portate un po' ridotte
Fantastic fine dining restaurant.
Lovely place and amazing food. It was a Five **** Experience.
Fabulous place. Food is always first class, service very good and the rooms are wonderful. Ten minute taxi ride to the centre of Dundee. It's our favourite place to stay when we visit the city More...
The restaurant is simply first class...excellent service, imaginative ,creative and delicious menus. We have also spent time in the bar which again is friendly, nicely designed and has a great atmosphere. If you are visiting Fife the Newport is a ' must visit' for sure. More...
Excellent speedy service, and a spectacular view across the Tay to Dundee, make this restaurant worth a visit. We had a 5 course taster menu, and really enjoyed it.
Booked for a surprise 70th birthday. All the staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. The upstairs room did get very hot though and we struggled to cool it down.
Excellent food and service with wonderful views
Popped for a quick lunch in the bar, great food. Need to book a table for the tasting menu.
Nice restaurant. Nice food. Amazing view over the river Tay.
Lovely taster menu. And very attentive & knowledgeable staff
Absolutely outstanding. The tasting menu was an adventure in fine food. The staff are wonderful. We went with the wine flight to compliment the meal and it added to the whole experience. It was good value too, you certainly got your money's worth of wine. The meal for two, with the wine, came to around the £200 mark, which is a lot but it is money well spent as this meal will live on in my memory for a long time. A real event dining experience. The staff also told me that they do vegan dishes, on request. More...
Food and service was amazing. Friendly staff who were very knowledgeable of everything on the menu. Restaurant situated in a great place with a beautiful view over the Tay. Definitely be back.
Fantastic restaurant and bar. The tasting menu is a must for that special occasion.
Delicious Sunday lunch served by attentive staff in a relaxed environment. The fish main course was amazing and chocolate fondant delicious. Thanks Jamie and team.
Very relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. The quality of the food was excellent and extremely well presented.
We had Sunday lunch at the Newport, both our meals were fantastic, the cheese bread starter set the tone for a delicious lunch. We were upstairs and view was lovely. Initially we were at a table at the back of the room, but a cancellation meant we could be be moved near the window. All the staff were great, attentive without being intrusive. We'll be back for sure. One thing, the powerful hand dryers in both washrooms can be heard in the room. But it's a minor quibble. More...
The sparkling Sunday lunch ( three courses and generous bread and potato skin and dip starter for £35 ) enough variety and interesting food on small menu. The view is stunning and it would be well worth booking a window table. Enjoyed the lunch though missing a little out on atmosphere While I like to able to hear myself talk I don’t want to be able to hear the other tables talk too. Just a bit stilted. Would definitely recommend More...
Love it here.
Had the most incredible lunch here. It was so good, I involuntarily swore and then nearly cried when I tasted the chocolate avacado mousse with coconut sorbet they made me. They were so accommodating of my df/gf dietary requirements and the service was great. It's a truly special place to eat. More...
Pub has friendly natives.(I am one!) Food in the restaurant is excellent, as you would expect from a MasterChef winner. Views across the river Tay are stunning when the sun is setting over the Tay rail bridge.
Great Sunday lunch
Amazing food and service. It cannot be faulted. Highly recommended!
Great food and really nice rooms.
Surprised it did not get a star this year

Amazing food and hospitality at The Newport. Visit the bar for an aperitif or two, move on to the restaurant for some great scan before retiring for the night to a lovely, quiet room with stunning views across the Tay followed by a slap up breakfast in the restaurant the following morning.
A great local boozer. A lot different to how it used to be.
Verry gd food and staff
Great bar lunch today, will be back and would recommend
The Newport is just incredible, the best food experience you could ever have.
Great food, great laid back service, defo be back again
Amazing food, incredible service and a stunning view!!
Lovely restaurant with amazing views
Great location and cozy bar
Excellent location and wonderful staff
Great food with a gorgeous view across the Firth of Tay. We had the 6 course tasting menu, and it was fabulous. If it's a typical Scottish day, with a bit of rain and cloud cover, the full height, unshaded windows are great: but, if it's sunny, dress coolly, and bring your sunglasses! If you forget, they keep a box of glasses to lend. BTW the main door on the street marked as 'The Newport' doesn't open. Go around to the east side and enter through the bar. More...
Great food and deserts. Fine dining with a marvellous view on the Tay
Wonderful food, service and views
Fantastic day at the Newport for the food and drink festival. Amazing food on offer, treated our self to some oysters and yummy baked goods.
Nice place and staff were nice too.
Brilliant food. Taster menu is top notch. Amazing views and brilliant staff. Would highly recommend.
The food is amazing and the view even better. Really tasteful selection on each plate with some amazing combinations. The tasting menu did not excite but the a la carte was very enjoyable. Wine and drink selection was not huge but good and not overpriced for the quality. The staff were very informal, friendly and helpful. What more can you want. More...
Been a couple of times. Not been disappointed. Food is excellent with a Scottish flavour and feel. Prices are reasonable for the quality of food. Staff are friendly and attentive.
The setting is lovely with a great view over the Tay towards Dundee - both times it's been sunny! Yes sun in Scotland. More...
Super restaurant, great views and high quality food. The hotel rooms are lovely, an excellent location for a relaxing break.
Loved the food, its was a taste sensation. love the view across the tay. Definitely recommend it.
Fabulous wee bar. Great selection of beers and spirits. Many from small breweries
The Tasting Menu is supposedly six courses; however, there were many, many plates. The food is awesome: fresh, innovative, masterfully developed, and creatively presented. James Scott mingled with people in between delivering unbelievably delicious food. He was readily able to deal with gluten and lactose issues so I had variations of the set tasting menu.
I highly recommend the Newport and plan to have my graduation dinner here. More...
Great food served in a room with a view. Had the tasting menu a couple of times and hasn't disappointed.
Excellent food, will defiantly be coming back again for a different menu. The staff were very knowledgeable on each course, very friendly and professional.
Beautiful place, excellent views and really helpful stuff. Nice beers too!
Excellent food. Small plate menu on Mon to wed allows you to pick and choose which is an alternative to the tasting menu
Recently modernised Newport Hotel and pub great friendly welcome by staff, amazing food, and view of the tay,
Lovely views with food to match. Great service and knowledgeable staff for the food and wine
Very good, inventive food. Lovely atmosphere, and great playlist. Altogether a brilliant birthday lunch.
Fantastic 5 course taster menu. Beautiful quality and presentation. Stayed in French room overnight which was very comfortable and decorated to very high standard. Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. More...
I came here with a colleague and had VERY tasty dinner. The menu is simple but adventurous, the staff friendly and helpful, and prices reasonable... I look forward to my next visit.
Great staff amazing food
One Word Awesome. Been twice will be back
Amazing food and venue
Great food, great daytime views and friendly efficient staff
A small resturant/bar on the waterfront in Newport-on-Tay. I was there for Brunch which was generally good although the salmon dish was minute for the price (£8), also it came with a single fried egg rather that the scrambled eggs mentioned on the menu. Will visit again for dinner sometime in the future to see how they go with that. More...
Loved this place. Excellent food and setting. Much better than some far more expensive restaurants Ive tried.
Just had the loveliest afternoon at this delightful restaurant. Beautiful food drinks views and atmosphere. Will certainly be returning !
Wonderful eating, views etc etc.
Really good food beautiful presented. We will be back
I've visited here several times and it just gets better
Stunning yes ,but Nick Nairn when asked where should you eat before you die said here and yes it is positively breath taking . Although I think he has already got some angels in the kitchen as the food is so heavenly . Price thank goodness its not London very very reasonable . Jamie you are amazing ! Wee tip order several portions plates are small but boy out off the world . More...
Can't praise Jamie and his team highly enough. We visit at every opportunity, and are never disappointed. Most recently we tried the five course tasting menu, and were simply blown away. Creative presentations, great combinations of flavours and textures, always surprising things coming, and a very high standard throughout. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. More...
It's rare I get to stay anywhere genuinely pleasant when I go away for work but this was something else. First evening was a stunning sunny evening overlooking the river and the rail bridge in the distance. Second night was a cloud dour affair cheered up with amazing good, a great atmosphere and really pleasant service. Top notch!
Just be aware the restaurant isn't open on a Monday even if you're heading here during the hols, but the chippy up the road isn't bad at all :) More...
Went for a birthday celebration and loved every minute of it. Service is the best, food was amazing. Chef even took the time to come and talk. Views over the Tay are stunning. Can't wait to go again. More...

By far the best restaurant I've ever been
Never had mash in my life untill I tried the bone marrow mash and I absolutely enjoyed every bit of it. Food came really quickly and tastes amazing! The waitresses were very attentive and patiently explained the menu and to top it, the view is spectacular.
For a top restaurant the price is very very affordable. 10O% Enjoyed. Will definitely come back. More...
