We stayed here in August and didn’t know what to expect as the price was so reasonable. We had a lovely room overlooking the gardens, which we sat in having made use of the charming bar. The staff that worked there were so helpful, nothing was too much trouble.|Typical English room, lots of space, and a new bathroom. Breakfast was great too!|Will stay again. More...

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for a night while visiting the area and we had such a wonderful evening. We were originally staying in a lovely room but decided to pay for an upgrade to the Honeymoon room which was absolutely beautiful, and the bath was amazing. |The lady who was on the front desk that evening was really lovely and helpfully, and the rest of the staff were friendly as well. |We arrive a little later than we had planned and were delighted that although there was no room service available they were happy for us to take our evening meal up to the room, and we weren’t waiting around long either. The evening menu and breakfast were really nice and filling. |We could not fault this hotel, we were welcomed with smiles and plan on coming back soon. | More...

My small family had a lovely lunch for our Mother's 80th Birthday. We were running late and when we called ahead were reassured that this would not be a problem. Our meal was relaxed and the food delicious. The staff went out of their way to assist and even thawed the ice cream my Mother was finding a bit too cold. Will definitely return. More...

We held our wedding here a few days ago and it's a great venue. The ceremony room is a separate purpose-built building set in the grounds and is unlike anything I've seen, the light in there is brilliant and the gallery offers additional seating and an excellent angle for photos. The grounds are vast and is excellent for photos and kids running about. We held the reception for 120 people in the Garden Suite which adjoins the ground floor of the main building and has transparent sides so you have great views of the grounds. There is also a larger and a smaller space available. The food was very nice - canapes, three courses and the evening buffet. We stayed in room number 1 which is very luxurious. We'd particularly like to thank the staff. They were all very accommodating, professional and friendly. Vicky, Tom and Simone all did a great job in helping our wedding day go perfectly. More...

We booked a room for a special birthday lunch for 10 adults and a2 year old. The room was nice and included a small table and a few seats in the bay, so some were able to sit and enjoy pre dinner drinks. The table was nicely set with flowers for our party. Staff were polite and drinks were promptly served. Our meal choices from a restricted menu (4 choices for each course) whichwas adequatefor our party. Most selected roast beef for the main course which was cooked to perfection for all of the different requests. Mine was tender and very tasty. The Alberino white and the 2015 Chianti wine were most enjoyable and served at correct temperatures. Surprisingly our first choice red, a Gamay, had to be rejected as cloudy but was promptly replaced without fuss.|The bar is smallish and intimate but adequate for the number of diners. The terrace and outer grounds are also good, especially for young children to use excess energy!|I cannot recommended the venue more highly. Indeed, we have booked it again in a week's time for a similar sized group so are hopeful that the visit will prove as enjoyable. More...

The whole feel of the building was comfortable and spacious. The decoration was eclectic, old in style with a modern flare which was on a soectrum if luxury; this all made me feel relaxed instantly. Kate and Peter combined were the best welcoming party I could have wished for being a single traveller but whilst being professional they felt like instant friends. A very rare but so important capability for anyone in the hotel industry. June and Simone were a terrific team in departure too, nothing was too much trouble for them and the warmth and kindness of all staff (one lady, the conference and banqueting manager, made themselves known to me to make me feel part of the furniture too and the 2 housekeepers were also cheery - just perfect!) makes this hotel the best I have ever stayed in - and I’ve stayed in the QM2 (deck 10), The Waldorf (NY) and Le Touessrok when it was the best on the island! Thank you very much indeed, I hope to see you all again one day.. More...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in July for three nights. This is a hotel with very impressive and beautifully kept grounds, and also has a huge car park. The building, although clearly classically old, radiated modernity and was excellently maintained. The staff were about the best that we have ever had the pleasure of dealing with anywhere in the world. They were in the main mature ladies, who were full of confidence and self-assurance. When they enquired after us on returning to the hotel you could tell that they were genuinely interested in our day and how we were finding our stay. Early one morning the fire alarm sounded, it proved to be a false alarm from another room, however, it was calmly and very professionally dealt with by the night staff. Breakfast we loved. It was not an extensive menu, however, whatever we chose was excellent and was also so well presented. We will definitely stay here agin on our next visit in December of this year. More...

I stayed here with a big group of ladies this weekend for my friends hen do. ||We kicked off the weekend with an afternoon tea at the hotel. The tea and scones were lovely, and they were all more or less eaten. However, the sandwiches and cakes were all more or less left, as they weren’t very nice. Sandwiches were not to many tastes (beef and horseradish, egg and cress and ham and mustard) and the cakes had no taste at all. ||The rooms were nice and clean, the beds very comfortable and a good sized en suite bathroom. All rooms came with a tv and tea and coffee facilities. ||Breakfast was lovely the following morning, and the room looks out over the hotel grounds which are beautiful. ||All in all I would definitely stay again, just maybe not have the afternoon tea.
