I understand that not everyone requires a complete project, so no matter how big or small your interior design needs are, I will work within your boundaries. I can provide project co ordination and co ordinate tradesmen in order to get the finish that you want on your project, whilst accommodating your budget, wants and needs. However if you prefer to take on the project yourself then I am happy to just design for you so that you have the direction and inspiration that you need to implement it with confidence.

Maria is very personable but also extremely professional. She listens carefully to your requirements or brief and comes up with solutions very promptly. She was clear about options and what I could expect from her and when and always delivered on time and was quick to answer any questions or queries. Maria at The Living Room Interiors has been amazing at helping me bring my Beauty treatment room ideas to life!
She has a great eye, listens to what you want and will work to any budget.
She gave me a great sample board to work with and a full 3D design of the room. I decided to complete the project myself but she regularly helped with links to my required furniture etc
Would definitely recommend for any project big or small!

What’s your interior design process?

The process starts with a free no obligation home consultation where I will discuss with you the finished space that you are looking for, along with your budget, needs and styling tastes. I prepare a design brief and then fee proposal, followed by a letter of acceptance before we continue to work together.
After a full Consultaton of 60 or 90 minutes i will prepare your design your package for you. Dependent on what service you have chosen, you will receive mood boards for new schemes; colour sample boards if changing a colour scheme; fabric sample boards if you are changing window treatments, and 2D & 3D drawings-it is all dependent on what we have discussed at your initial consultation. We will have also discussed time lines of delivering your boards and drawings, and if you are using my installation service, we will then get going on the next phase of measuring; sample sourcing and supply and installation.

Which interior design styles can you cater for?

I listen to my clients and what they like and dislike. I do not have a set ‘signature’ style, as designs trends are always moving and shifting so it important that I always keep abreast of these whilst making sure that my clients are going to love living within their new space-after all it is the client that is going to be living within the new space- not me!!! Therefore I cater to any design taste, as long as it works well within a particular space.

What do you love most about your job?

I love everything about my job! I love exploring new schemes for clients, and fulfilling their desires and needs. I love meeting people and talking to them and finding out about their lives and what interests them. I want to make people happy-Living in a space that you love is so important, and I love being able to make a difference to someone’s life, whether it’s through a small change such as a new colour scheme in their bedroom and new bed linen, or a completely new design.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have worked with my husband for over a decade in his Landscaping Business. For years I maintained gardens that had been designed and built by him and his partner and my plan was to go myself to become a garden designer. However it was when we were half way through renovating our second house that I realised that my passions lay within Interiors. So I studied and gained a diploma in Interior Design through the Interior Design Institute in 2016 and early in 2018 i completed a course at KLC college in Chelsea. After finishing my first course two and half years ago I got a job at a large high street retailer as a Home Consultant. In this role I gained valuable experience working within the Interiors industry, and working with clients both in store and in their homes. The time came after eighteen months for me to take the plunge and start my own business as I realised that I wanted to give a much more personal service, hand picking my own trade specialists, and being able to offer a much more personal experience than you would receive visiting a large chain. Now a year on I have a dedicated studio; website; extensive portfolio, and completed projects under my belt!!

Because I am a genuine person who has plenty of life experience that means I understand and empathise well with people. I can relate to the fact that not everyone has thousands of pounds to spend , but still has aspirations to achieve a beautiful home. I understand well how to run a business through running a business with my husband for over a decade, and am proud that I can work to any budget, however big or small, without the big overheads of a design studio that get passed onto a client.

Home Styling

Consultations are available if you need help with a specific area such as a new colour scheme; layout designs for specific rooms or an extension, changing window treatments, or product sourcing to furnish a new room. Following an initial free no obligation home consultation to discuss your project, i will prepare a design brief and fee proposal outlining what you will receive. Depending on your needs it will include a 60 or 90 minute consultation; mood board; sample board; samples supplied, and/or drawings, as well as spreadsheets if you need help with product sourcing. You may just need one package, or we can put multiple packages together if you require, for example: A colour consultation, bespoke window treatments as well as product sourcing-i tailor everything to your specific requirements. Home Staging

My Home Staging Service aims to help the home owner ensure that the positive aspects of the property and the presentation increases buyer appeal and maximises the sales potential of the property. Appropriate presentation in a cost effective way increases the visual appeal of the property to ensure buyer interest. A buyer need to imagine your home as their home, and so i aim to create a look which has universal appeal with a style that enhances the best features of your home. To maximise buyer appeal and selling price, you will receive a full consultation. From there i will prepare a Home Staging Report and action plan, along with suggestions of furnishings & decoration, as well as details of Contractors & Trades to use if you decide to implement the staging report. I can also work alongside my trade specialists to provide project co ordination. Boy’s Bedroom-Design Concept & Drawings Packages

An interior design project where the client didn’t require project co ordination, just design, a new colour scheme and layout with drawings. The client received 2D and 3D digital drawings of the new layout and scheme, & painted sample boards to allow my client to see the colors in her son’s bedroom without having to put paint on the walls. The digital drawings allowed her to see how the room would look with different layouts and colours.

Classic Living Room-Interior Design: Design Concept; FF&E & Project Co ordination

A living room that was updated and redesigned around the existing curtains. The room was decorated in warm neutrals to compliment the window treatments; new furniture was sourced and purchased within the client’s budget, and soft furnishings, including light shades, were handmade by my soft furnishings specialist to bring the whole scheme together. Decorating was carried out by my painting and decorating specialist.

Master Bedroom -Interior Design: Design Concept; FF&E & Project Co ordination

This bedroom was redesigned with existing furniture. It has a new modern color scheme, and decorating carried out by my painting and decorating specialist. Handmade triple pinch pleat curtains and co ordinating hand made cushions were made by my soft furnishings specialist, and in addition new bed linen and lighting was sourced and purchased which brought the whole scheme together.

Hallway/Landing & Stairs-Colour Consultation & Installation

After a Colour consultation, this hallway landing and stairs was brought up to date with a modern scheme. A new colour scheme was chosen, including a stunning feature Wall, as well a new carpet for the stairs and landing to compliment the existing hallway floor and entrance tiles. I took care of the project co ordination and work was undertaken by my Painting & Decorating and flooring specialists. Because of the nature of the work that needed to be done, I was able to visit my client; provide Sampleboards and floor samples, and book the work in to be done and completed within 6 weeks of the initial consultation. Norfolk Cottage-Window Treatments Consultation & Installation

I have just finished working on a cottage in Norfolk that has been renovated for letting. I am providing Window Treatments, including bespoke Curtains; Shutters, and Venetian Blinds, as well as soft furnishings, all undertaken by my curtains & soft furnishings, and Shutters & Blinds specialists. As well as a consultation at the client’s cottage, I have designed Sampleboards to show potential colour schemes; provided all samples, and taken both my specialists to Norfolk to measure all windows once fabrics and materials have been chosen. Ground Floor Refurbishment - Interior Design: Design Concept; Drawings Package; FF&E & Project Co ordination

I have just finished working on a project in North Cambridge for a client who required a complete refurbishment of their ground floor with project management. After a full interior design consultation, and discussing in full a design brief as well as practical needs, likes and dislikes, I have designed the project and they have received Sampleboards for colour schemes and window treatments & soft furnishings; floor samples and tile samples, as well as digital drawings in 2D and 3D to show design, colour schemes, and new layouts. They have also had their kitchen redesigned which has been fitted by my building specialist. The second phase of the project began in March with building work to include the living/dining room which has been made open plan; some re wiring; complete redecoration of the kitchen, new living area and hallway, landing and stairs; new flooring; new doors, and finally new Venetian blinds have been supplied and fitted to complete the makeover. All work has been undertaken by my trade specialists and co ordinated by myself. Pictures of this project will follow as well as on my Facebook page.

Modern Cambridge New Build Apartment - Interior Design: Design Concept; Drawings Package; FF&E & Project Co ordination

I have just finished working on a new build apartment in Cambridge City. After a full interior design consultation, I have provided all schemes and samples for window treatments which have been handmade in a stunning ‘Wave’ style with made to measure poles, and have been installed in the master bedroom and open plan living area, (pictures in gallery above). Bespoke soft furnishings, including all light fittings and floor cushions have complimented the scheme in each room.I have taken my client personal shopping-where I have taken her to a showroom for bespoke furniture, as well as retail stores that fit within her budget, and helped her choose furniture for her bedroom living room and hallway. She also received digital drawings in 2D and 3D to show new schemes and layouts, as well as help with product sourcing for shopping for beds and accessories. Phase two of the project is now finished where we have just completed the second bedroom and a bespoke ‘boot room’ style entrance hallway.
