Having eaten at the Ivy in Kingston, I was delighted to discover a branch in Winchester and to discover that the same excellent vegan menu was available there. In terms of quality this was very good, and not unreasonably prices (though it was frustrating that the 2-course fixed-price lunch menu wasn’t available, despite the holiday period being concluded). The portions were very generous - one might almost say too generous? - and service was efficient and friendly. My only criticism would be of the general atmosphere: it was quite noisy with more of a bar than a restaurant ‘vibe’ to it, though that’s probably got more to do with the approach of the clientele to dining rather than the venue itself. Had brunch for my birthday with a friend, eggs were a bit overcooked, so we were given an apology and provided with free coffees, also a lovely surprise of a small dessert with a candle for my birthday. I wasn’t complaining about the eggs, but as the waitress asked if the food was ok, I mentioned they were a little overdone for my taste. The staff were lovely and immediately responded positively in a friendly and professional manner. We had an overall very good experience on New Years Eve.A few days before I tried to add one more person to our table, because they were so busy it was agreed we could have 1 more but would need to be in the private dinning area as the main restaurant was full I agreed. On arrival we were told good news they had managed to get us into the main restaurant we were keen to sit here because of the love music, Which was fantastic !My only complaint was the table they put us on was tucked away around the corner and was more like a coffee table than a dinning table, I then wish I had taken the table in the private dinning area! Confirmed the booking, as requested, tried to make contact to ensure we had a nice table, but was unsuccessful! On arrival, asked for a nice table and was informed that it was! !! The table in the middle of Restaurant and very, very close to two other tables. If I had been able to speak to someone before the day, which I was unable to do, this could have been avoided and hopefully we could have had a table by the window or to the side. We visited for lunch on the Saturday before Christmas to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary and our experience was fantastic from start to finish! I was a little concerned after reading some of the recent reviews, but we were made to feel extremely welcome, not once reminded of the 2 hour time limit on our table, all of our food was served in a timely manner and was absolutely perfect!
