I'm all about supporting the community in different ways. I originally heard about this place because of one of our friends being in the acts, but not only did we love his show, we had a blast watching the other skits as well. I've had many laughs at this place. The seats are first-come first-serve and you get to enjoy the work of a few improv comedy groups putting on a show. I'm usually leaving this place in tears because of how funny some of the skits are. The Improv Space is a very small room with a stage and enough room for definitely less than 100 people (rough estimate). All we paid was $5 for the Friday night shows. It's next to the In N' Out and other spots that UCLA peeps go to in the area. It's definitely a nice change from going to the movies and it's for a great cause when you're supporting people who want to get their name out in this industry. Take a look at their website to learn more about each performer.PARKINGWe parked in a small public lot a little walk away, paid a few bucks More...

I mean. It's improv. Like. . .what am I really supposed to say. It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't "Who's Line Is It Anyway". Was there to support a friend, who did well, he was funny. It's a really tiny space. You literally walk into the show. It's great for those who want to begin a career in stand-up comedy or just practice their craft of improvisation. They offer all types of classes at different levels and have a open mic on Mondays with no cover starting at 9pm. Also no drink minimum which is great! I went on a Monday and was greeted with an array of talent. Some funnier than others but overall a good time especially since there is no cover. They do accept donations at the end of the show, so show some love. It's unpretentious and super casual. More...

For five bucks a person, you can have a really good time here. Â Added bonus--if you want to stay after an hour that you paid for, you get grandfathered in to the next show. I've made a mental note of this spot while getting falafel next door--great date night idea, you guys!--and finally we kinda had nothing to do one night and decided to check out the performances. As a comedy junkie, I very rarely take particular acts or performers into my reviews of venues because the unpredictability and the highs and the lows are what you go out for. Â You're basically playing Russian roulette with your funny bone whenever you step foot into a comedy club, so take the lumps with the rest of us and don't blame the club when someone standing in front of the mic is all kinds of rotten. Â Shit happens. The night we stopped in, we got to see two improv teams and one was demonstrably better put together than the other. Â The acts were still fun, though. Â Most of the performers are SUPER young and so here you have your chance to catch all the future up and comers as they're getting their pacing worked out.Insofar as the venue goes, I liked how intimate and friendly it is. Â It was packed and the air quality did get *a little* stagnant as the night went on so I would HIGHLY recommend they work out a better ventilation system. But yeah, overall, I'm a fan. Â Hope a lot of folks come out and support the club. More...

Great place! Cool community of people. If you are an actor, there is free improv on Wednesday nights and open mics on Mondays! I would give it five stars but apparently there's some algorithm on Yelp that ignores five star reviews as false. So, yeah. Come to the Improv Space! Have fun and make a fool of yourself! Cheers! This place is absolutely great. From the performers and shows that I have seen, to the general atmosphere of the theater. Everyone is really supportive and there are a lot of talented creative people at the theater . I like to think that the Improv Space has so much potential to become a more well known comedy spot in LA. The last time I went there last I saw Judah Friedlander from 30 Rock, one of the my favorite shows of all time. Aside from him, I've seen Jonah Ryan perform regularly, from VEEP, and there are a lot of Buzzfeed people that perform too. Basically, if you want a laugh, or want to take classes, this place has an amazing environment for it. I just finished level 3 with Ben Crutcher and he, along with my other coaches, are all so great. If Yelp wouldn't cap stars at 5, I would be more accurately given this place 10. You'd never get this kind of comedy and community for 5 dollars for an entire night. It is a smaller theater, but it can make for some great moments. My only thing is that I hope people donate to keep that theater as awesome as it is now! More...

For those out there who aren't sure about this place, check out Thursday night. Five bucks at the door, bring some friends, grab some munchies and chill out. The Thursday night teams are hilarious, but if there is a time to show up, be there before nine for: The Wait List and MAN CAMP I didn't know too much about improv and decided one day to take their level 1 class:First off, it's easily the most REASONABLY PRICED improv theater in LA where you will get some legit training. Secondly, everyone is welcoming, supportive and wants to see you succeed, so it was easy for me to instantly fall in love with improv. Six months later, I'm doing improv every week and loving every second of it. Unsure if it's for you? Give it a shot. Seriously, there is nothing to lose and don't be that guy. Take it from me. The Improv Space is a great place to play, to learn, and to see shows. The audience is very supportive and welcoming for people who are new to improv, and there are shows almost every night of the week. It's very convenient from UCLA and the Westside, and there's even some street parking available by the time most of the shows start, which is insane for Westwood.Highlights:Wednesday night jam @ 9 pm--without a doubt the best improv jam in Los Angeles. After the show the groups shake hands with you and talk to you for a bit.The type of improv done here varies from night to night, group to group.
