What a delightful oasis for those of us allergic to gluten. Eating out is a total minefield - constant vigilance about all the ways your food could hurt you. This is a truly gluten free place; I have never had any fear eating anything here. Having said that, the food here is REALLY good. The pastry, cakes, and other delights are not only tasty, but have beautiful texture and flavor.  (Their omelettes are wonderful)Food of all sorts is properly done here. The staff are great, the location is lovely, their coffee is excellent - top marks. More...

Quick sweet tooth cure.Lemon sugar cookie: great sugar cookie with a good lemon tang (not sure how the store associate picked it up in one piece because it fell apart with the slightest touch, nothing wrong with that though)Raspberry cream cheese turnover: initially the cream cheese was a bit too strong, but as you keep eating, it all works out, especially with the raspberry jam kinda dealCute place

Great gluten free breakfast/brunch/lunch and then some. !My savory egg and cheese crepe with added carmelized onions was luscious and so filling. Also tried the lemon sugar crepes. Could have used a few blueberries but still yummy. Biscuits and gravy were very good and so plentiful. Could very well be shared. Bought lots of baked goodies to take home!!! Can't wait!!! More...

That fully gluten free menu was a godsend. The chicken pot pie was /perfect/; it featured a light and flakey crust with a deeply soul-fueling inside of sauce, chicken, and greens. The herbal tea selection is perfect and each serving comes out in a low-waste tea-pot. The setting is quiet and the employees were all friendly. I totally recommend this place, especially if you have food allergies or simply enjoy gluten-free food. More...

My boyfriend and I come here almost every Sunday because we crave the delicious crepes and biscuits and gravy. Their herbal teas and baked goods are also delicious and you can't even tell they are gluten free. This is the best gluten free place I have ever been to. My only negative is that the restaurant is a bit hot and seems the AC does not run.Other than that it's a great breakfast/ lunch option. More...

It's rare to find a completely gluten free bakery. I had delicious, reasonably priced crepes. There's a nice atmosphere for a lunch out, but tables were fairly crumby and the hallway had a strong "pet" smell that made me uneasy. Still, it's hard to find Gluten free food, so we took the plunge and I don't regret it. More...

So happy to find an all gluten free place! Their quiche and crepes were amazing and I liked the eclair I got even though it was unconventional. They had lots of cupcake options and were very busy and popular. Their chai lattes were also amazing. Sitting outside was way too hot though and we couldn't get a seat inside. Good thing they had cold water and our food came out fast (except they forgot one of our dishes and we had to remind them). Bit expensive I thought but pretty good for brunch. Very delicious! Omg!!!! This is my new favorite little spot for pastries and coffee! I really love that everything was gluten-free because I really felt like I could enjoy it without feeling too conscious of some ingredients. As soon as you walk in, you walk into a little oasis of sweets and very kind staff! Warm spot with cozy books to enjoy coffee, tea, and catch up with a gal pal. I loved the red decor and unique touches that make this place so one of a kind. I saw that the restrooms are not ideal and seem to be in a hall leading out of the restaurant and more of the building itself. They were clean but had a little bit of a vibe to it that I didn't really enjoy. No touches of a care. On the way to the restroom on the left there is a private little tea room I suppose for special events or families which I thought was precious! I ended up trying a little bit of everything. I was in the mood for a scone...(when am I not) but I figured I would try something brand new today. I tried their spinach Florentine quiche which was incredible!! They really focused on the spinach and not so much on the cheese, but the amount of cheese that was there was that ooey- gooey, stringy melted cheese that you crave in a warm breakfast item. It was even warmed up and served to the table on a plate so that I could enjoy it with my pot of tea. I got the lavender Black tea which I found interesting. I don't know that I will get it again, it definitely would've done better if I had put a little honey in it but regardless it seemed of high-quality. It came in its own little pot and a and a mug which was just great for pictures or for that wholesome homey feel. I also got a fresh squeeze cup of orange juice that was great!! Nice portions.I also got one of each little interesting pastry. One apricot almond petit four, one chocolate covered coconut macaroon (of which I had never tried or seen before), one cheesecake, and one red velvet gluten-free cupcake (a previous reviewer raved about in a review) I definitely spent a little more than I was expecting...around $33 but with the quality that I experienced my first bite of quiche, along with a smile that is priceless, i feel like this was not a mistake. I felt like the right amount of foodie, meets, health-but, meets adventurer. I was not thrilled with the macaroon it seemed a little dry in the middle-but I would definitely return to try anything else and look forward to eating my cupcake, cheesecake, and mini cake later this evening.Love love love the Happy Tart. Name fits perfectly! More...

The Happy Tart is our family's "go to" for awesome brunch, coffee, and special days such as Mother's Day.   The food is always fabulous and we absolutely love the pot pies, quiches, and pastries/scones.  Coffee is also excellent. The Mother's Day tea was excellent, complete with mini scones, tarts, cucumber sandwiches, etc.  Can't go wrong. The staff are friendly. There's one young man, weekdays now, who is hilarious. You always leave with a smile. You need to be patient during busy times and for brunches, do not go when you are in a hurry. The food is worth waiting for. (There always seems to be a patron who is demanding instantaneous service. We wish people would stop being so cross and irritating. Slow down!  Happy Tart does its best to please them! Go Happy Tart! )The pastries and cupcakes are amazing.   The gluten free is perfect, and your digestive system will thank you. More...

I love the treats so much, they’re just as good as the gluten counterparts! I have had cupcakes, cakes and all sorts of treats there. My sister can’t eat gluten which makes this a good option. My one problem is how early it shuts on Sundays. It’s the main time I always go and I have had multiple times where I end up not going and buying stuff at all because it closed. A very pleasant, friendly bakery/restaurant in Falls Church.  Specializing in a totally gluten free menu, they have a remarkable selection of bakery items that you would never guess were gluten free.  Lunches/brunches have a nice selection of daily soup, crepes, meat pies, etc.  But, note, everything is made fresh daily.  That is great, but it is possible that they can run out of specific items. Do drop by and give this gem a try, even if gluten is not your concern!  It is THAT good! More...

I visited twice (so far) while in town. The first visit the service was grumpy, but the baguettes, macarons, and petitfours were outstanding. The coffee was fantastic. The second visit (I received a coupon after giving feedback on square about the bad service the first visit) was even better. It was busy, so it took a while, but that gave us plenty of time to make our selections. This time we tried raspberry cream cheese pastry (amazing), banana nutella strudel (divine), more petitfours (excited to try the earl gray - the strawberry, chocolate and raspberry ones we already know are delicious), a cupcake for the road and... More baguettes. We eat at gf bakeries everywhere we travel including Atlanta, Hawaii, Seattle, Vancouver... And this is the best so far. The pastries are just as delicious a gluten-full ones. The baguette is fresh, soft and chewy straight out of the bag and delicious toasted the next day. The only downside to this bakery is that there aren't any dairy free options, which we have needed in the past. Even one df cookie would be a great addition since so many celiacs also can't tolerate dairy. We can't eat much rice, so it was also great that the baguettes are a sorghum-millet mix. We will probably stop by again on our way out of town for more bread!Eta: we dream of these petit fours. My partner detours to come by this bakery when in the area - and flies them home. More...
