Traditional town centre hotel with good parking, friendly helpful staff and high standards. Good value, special offers persuaded me to upgrade to a nice 4 poster bedroom and eat in at their restaurant and I was pleased to have done so. Business visit and happy to return there. More...

An excellent choice if you are looking for a town centre hotel. The George stands in the mould of traditional coaching inns so don’t look for a modern feel to the place. However, the welcome is warm, the rooms clean, the beds comfortable and the situation of the hotel is remarkably quiet and peaceful. For those wishing to dine out, numerous choices can be found within a short stone’s throw More...

My family and I stayed here for a wedding over the weekend and couldn’t be happier with our experience. ||The staff were fantastic, always going above and beyond to make sure everyone was happy. ||The breakfast has a great selection and can accommodate everybody's needs including GF and VG.||||The Bride and Groom seemed exceptionally happy with how the day went all thanks to the team at the hotel that made it happen :). ||||And it’s all around the corner from all the shops! A great night's entertainment if you wish to relive 40s 50s & 60s songs.||Usually in May and October the deal is for a three course evening meal, double or twin room, full English buffet breakfast. ||Lola is a beautiful lady, who with her husband Kevin, sings songs and gets the audience involved in the show. A very good entertainment.||The location is an updated old coaching inn with excellent service and food suitable for any occasion. More...

There's easy access internet, there's parking, there's pleasant staff, there's clean, comfortable rooms, there's a very nice restaurant, there's a very nice lounge with bar snacks, and it is slap bang in the centre of the town - what more could you want. When I go to Lichfield, if I can't get into the George, I swap the date of the visit rather than swap the hotel venue. More...

The George Hotel retains it's Georgian charm with sympathetic modernisation and is well maintained. ||The hotel's staff are friendly & approachable. The accommodation is spotless with good quality, comfortable furnishings. The lounge areas are roomy and well lit with excellent seating.||Food is of a very high standard and all tastes are catered for in the varied and imaginative menu. ||This is an excellent hotel, as a Best Western it is able to show independent character, which means a lot to me as I dislike 'non budget' hotels which still end up looking the same. |||| More...

We stopped in this hotel on our wedding night en route to Cornwall, and came back for our 30th wedding anniversary. What a wonderful hotel it still is. Old world charm with modern comfort and style. The staff were outstanding. Courteous, warm, kind and efficient. The food was excellent, from the well presented breakfast to the individual evening meals. So glad we chose to come back. It was probably one of the most special anniversary weekends we’ve had. I would highly recommend the beautiful hotel to anyone visiting, or passing through Lichfield. More...

One night B&B at The George. ||||A lovely hotel in a nice town. Very clean without being clinical. Comfortable bed in a good sized room. Free car park at rear. Covered outdoor seating area. Housekeeping lady was very nice. The other staff in bar and at breakfast could have been more friendly and relaxed. Particularly Holly at Reception. Far too officious to be approachable. Located right in the heart of the City with its own parking made getting out and about very easy.||||Old style hotel but it all works - the odd quirk (uneven floor/ steps) and rabbit warren like layout makes a change from the modern rather soulless city centre hotel chains. ||||Very friendly and chatty staff - good service at the bar and a more than decent breakfast to set you up for the day.||||The only negative has nothing to do with the hotel as such but with the late night entertainment on the streets outside/ around the hotel - very boisterous pub opposite the hotel entrance plus some sort of fracas in the car park at the rear provided for some unexpected activities in the early hours on Sunday! Excellent location right in the centre of the very pleasant small town of Lichfield. We have stayed in this hotel for two night breaks several times a year over a number of years. We always enjoy or stay there. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The lounge is a popular place fir friends to meet with a nice variety of foodstuffs available from the bar. The food is always good. We always stay in a superior room and find it very acceptable. Food in the main restaurant is varied and tasty. Nearby restaurant can be intrusively noisy at weekends. If you are looking for a hotel to explore Lichfield then look no further than The George. It’s a stones throw from the exquisite Lichfield Cathedral and is right in the centre to explore the shops, restaurants and attractions the City has to offer. The rooms are nicely furnished and clean. Breakfast is worth paying for. It’s freshly cooked. The hotel has a bar and beautiful Garrick Suite which was laid out beautifully for an event when we stopped. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Would stop again and would recommend! More...

We only spent one night at The George as we wanted to visit the National Memorial Arboretum the next day. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay at The George again if visiting the area. The hotel was clean and welcoming. Our room was very nice. The decor was slightly old fashioned but this is only a minor point. More importantly, the room and en suite were both clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The room was quite warm but there was an air conditioning unit which was very welcome. Breakfast was good and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is exceptionally well situated right in the middle of Lichfield but it has ample free parking at the back. The hotel has its own restaurant but there are lots of other places to eat nearby. The cathedral is just a short walk away. This is a great place to stay for a weekend break. Highly recommended. More...
