Looks a bit run down but absolutely the heart of the village .lots of events ..food usually avalible..cash more useful than a card . parking at rear..if you can sing (even a little bit)...Dan's open mike night might be for you! More...

I've always loved this pub. Superb beer, good quality pub grub and fabulous old school atmosphere. It's not Michelin star, but that's what makes it so fabulous. Highly recommended.

We stopped off here on Thursday on our way to a weekend break up in Wirksworth. We had a lovely lunch, I had the chilli and rice and my wife had the Bacon and Brie panini both very nice indeed and as for the portion of chips in a basket they were delicious. The pint I had was fantastic too from Great Oakley brewery, and I will be checking out more of there beers in the future Had a chat with a few people as well as our greyhound was getting a bit of fuss from them, and the girl who served us behind the bar was very friendly. Stopped off here en route to Lincoln, highly recommended, beautiful country pub with very friendly barstaff, great beer and good food. I had a pint of Nethergate Suffolk bitter and the chile con carne, not the biggest portion but delicious, great chips too, the ale was in top condition. More...
