It was a gift especially for the grandparents, aged 88 and 92 so was viewed with some apprehension. We did not need to worry, as when we arrived and saw the "Tented Lodge" with all its facilities, including a full sized walk in shower, bath, with hot and cold running water, etc, together with a large log burning oven, we soon realised that this was something special. Comfortable beds, in 3 bedrooms, in beautiful surroundings ensured that we enjoyed a wonderful family holiday, with fantastic BBQs each evening, listening to the sounds of the countryside. Our wedding reception was held at the Gathering and we used an additional Marquee in the courtyard for the wedding breakfast. We recently celebrated our wedding at the Gathering, and could not be happier with how it all turned out. It was the only venue we looked at when thinking of where to get married, and everything about it was perfect, from the location, to the accommodation and, most of all, the people. Tommy, Lesley, Geoff and co were so incredibly kind, helpful and accommodating and allowed us to really put our own mark on the place so we could make it our own. We were really taken by their warmth and enthusiasm, and it was obvious they were keen to ensure we had the very best time possible. House has all the home comforts you could need and the “tents” are pretty luxurious too, everyone was really impressed with the facilities and the setting is idyllic. Communication was spot on throughout the booking process, big thanks to Tommy and Lesley for helping me with my numerous questions on the lead up and also to Geoff for all his help on the weekend. Couldn’t have asked for anything more, although I was one of the fortunate ones to be in a tent with hot running water and heated blankets - what a treat! Some of the other girls were a bit chilly but I think that may have been down to them not paying full attention to Geoff’s instructions on keeping the fires going and using the hot water bottles provided! The gathering is a superb base for exploring the hope valley and the level of accommodation simply couldn't be better.||The glamping tent was clean, funky and was everything it said on the tin. Fantastic south facing accommodation which was just super tranquil if you get the good weather. Walks, pubs and shops on your doorstep also helps, albeit we sadly missed the outdoor wood fired pizza and next door chippy which only operate on Fridays and Saturdays....next time.!||Staff were very welcoming and accommodating throughout our trip and thanks to Mac the dog for looking after the kids for a bit.||||Loved the no phone signal too....||||We will be back. thanks. Wow what an amazing weekend we had at the Gathering for my sisters Hen Do!!! 21 girls had the best time starting with the pizza oven down the lane to sitting in the sun drinking wine and the barn is the perfect place for a projector screen to watch a movie! ! All the rooms in the barn were immaculate and decorated beautifully. The tents were so much fun and I was even too hot once he electric blanket was on!!! ||||The owners were completely accommodating from start to finish even with my many requests!!! As a family we enjoyed an overnight stay here during half term. The location is beautifully rural with surrounding hills and neighbouring stream. The building has plenty of character with a tasteful and well thought through conversion and refurbishment. The children’s beds worked really well in the family room and the main bed was very comfortable. Crank the under-floor heating up with caution, it’s highly effective so bear this in mind when setting temperature overnight. Breakfast is self-service with a couple of cereal options, bread, eggs and milk. I imagine the location and set-up is absolutely ideal for larger gatherings. Tommy was extremely friendly and helpful - sharing local knowledge for our Mam Tor walk with children and good advice for a scenic route to our onward destination. We tried the pub at the end of the lane ... it filled hungry tummy’s but the food wasn’t great. Not that this is associated with the B&B but worth seeing what the other nearby options are. But it was amazing, the stove kept us warm and the electric blankets kept the kids cozy all night and in their beds until morning!||||Really warm welcome from Tommy, Kirsty and Jeff (and Mac the dog), they could of treat us any better and often helped with the kids. It made the whole holiday really magical.||||The tent was was excellent, very luxurious and well kitted out, it perfect to sit at night after the kids had gone to bed with the oil lamps on a bottle of wine.||||The walks around the tents were excellent, Edale is a lovely village as were the trips out to Castleton, Buxton and the caves.||||We're hoping to come back when its a bit warmer and take some strolls and go in the streams. We celebrated a 50th birthday with a group of not yet old girlfriends in the most beautiful setting of the Gathering in Edale. The tent we stayed in was not a tent, it was a palace! The surroundings are stunning, there is wood fired pizza down the lane at the weekend and the pub down the same lane serves a great breakfast. ||We had a brilliant time catching up around the log burner, the wood and the home made fire lighters were replenished every morning by Geoff and Tommy when Geoff was off. Both were lovely, chatty and super helpful. Thank you guys for the warm welcome and a wonderful stay. We got married at The Gathering in August 2017. We had fallen in love with The Gathering on first sight and knew it would make the perfect venue for our special day! ||We took the apartment in the shooting lodge as the bridal base and then all our friends and family stayed in the beautiful safari tents/ shooting lodge. Our guests absolutely loved the accommodation and we had so many positive comments. The tents have everything you could need to make your weekend perfect. The shooting lodge is a fab base for Friday night family time and the stone walled hall made the best dancefloor!||Tommy and his staff couldn't have been more amazing. They were happy for us to decorate the venue as we wanted and were on hand to help us out over the whole weekend. On our wedding day they set up all the firepits so people could toast marshmallows and Tommy set up the bbqs for a family bbq on Sunday.||One of the most amazing thing about this venue, is that it is yours for the whole weekend, so you get to have a whole wedding weekend. It is so unique and you can absolutely make it your own. I doubt any two weddings at this venue would look the same. I would not hesitate to The Gathering. We have just come home from our second visit to this gem of a place. Our first was last year when our daughter's wedding was here and this year we celebrated their first wedding anniversary. We can't speak too highly of the hospitality, welcome, accommodation, cleanliness, quality of experience etc etc. Tommy, Geoff and the team are so helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. We recently had a wonderful time here for a family wedding. We stayed in one of the fabulous tents which were very special, my 3 year old will now have a very unrealistic view of what 'camping' is! From the heated blankets in each bed to the pile of logs and kindling for the log burner every last detail was thought of. I would definitely recommend it as a venue and as a place just to stay. This is the most amazing place. We visited for the first time a couple of years ago when we were first searching for wedding venues and they were just starting out doing weddings. We arrived late at night in the dark in February, found our little apartment in the keepers lodge (it had lights on and was warm and cozy!) We slept on the comfiest bed ever and woke up to the frost covered sunny hills with chickens wandering past our front door. In the fridge were all the best local ingredients to make our breakfast. Before we even met Tommy or had our tour we knew this was where we wanted to marry! We were both besotted!||||Since then we have stayed a few times and we celebrated our wedding in July! Tommy, Kirstie and their kids are such a great family! They’ve built a really special place and are part of why we loved and chose it. Over the months Tommy put up with A LOT of questions and special requests from me :-) From the reports from our friends and family ALL of the rooms and tents are really comfortable and so beautifully decorated (Kirstie!). In the few days leading up to our wedding we met Geoff and his team who could not have done any more for us. His beautiful dog Mac kept us entertained (my niece was obsessed with him!) whilst they were up ladders, moving hay bales, driving people around, hanging origami cranes, you name it… we had a crazy amount of decorations and honestly couldn’t have done it without them. ||||We had the most incredible weekend and wedding day we could have imagined! Mike and Viv (Edale Pizza Company) made us pizzas on the Friday night. On Saturday we had our ceremony outside surrounded by hills, followed by a picnic, a huge South African braai (we had a bit of a South African theme!) in the evening we danced in the shooting lodge and toasted marshmallows over the fire. 3 happy kids, 2 refreshed adults and 1 tired dog. We all loved our holiday at The Gathering this week. Tommy and his amazing team could not have done more to make our holiday perfect. ||Getting away from the busyness of our day to day lives and enjoying the beautiful countryside and hidden gems, such as the waterfall and dipping pool, was just what we needed. The kids had so much fun building dens and dams and living in the very well equipped Safari tent for a week. It was our second year at The Gathering and it won’t be the last. Our group of 5 adults stayed in the Ryedale for a 4 night midweek break.||||The tent is extremely comfortable and well-equipped. We were there during a heat wave so didn't need to use the under-bed heaters or wood burning stove, although we did use the outdoor firepit and oil lamps in the evenings. The bathroom was modern and well laid out, with plenty of towels and some lovely toiletries provided. There was a selection of board games suitable for various ages. Tommy and his team were very friendly and helpful.||||We ate out every evening at one or the other of the two village pubs, both of which we found to have a good selection of food including plenty of vegetarian options. We ate breakfast at the local cafe on one morning, again good food and a pleasant atmosphere. ||||There is no mobile reception / internet at the Gathering, but none of us missed this. We did use the wifi in the pubs to catch up on anything urgent in the evenings.||||The walk into the village is pretty level with very little traffic, with the closest pub only about 5 minutes from the tents. There are lots of footpaths starting from the village including the start of the Pennine Way, or you can walk in the opposite direction alongside the sheep pastures to reach a ford and join the footpaths over the moors from there.||||My favourite part of the stay was falling asleep to the sounds of sheep bleating in the distance and the Grinds Brook bubbling behind the tent which made for a very restful ||night's sleep. Our family of five stay at The Gathering was different class. Our kids are no longer babies and hence just the right age to scamper around the beautiful surroundings. The trees outside our well equipped tent provided the perfect backdrop. We weren’t there to party hard but have a relaxing family time and The Gathering certainly delivered on that front. Down by the river leading to be waterfall and swimming in the pond was one of the most incredible settings. Tommy, his family and great team (shout out to Geoff) were incredibly welcoming. Views were fabulous, and Tommy and his team made it very easy. ||||The tent was very well equipped, and anything we didn't have was provided. Tommy even took delivery of an online shop in advance so everything was packed away and ready on arrival.||||Lots for the kids to do, with the barn table tennis a highlight for my 8 year old son, and the garden jenga / boules championships another.
