The tea service was delicious and voluminous, many savory and sweet delights which kept us very full. Anna provided very personalized service in her house and even offered extra sandwiches if we were still hungry (we were not). The house itself was filled with ornate antiques, and Anna offered us children's and guidebooks with pictures that she has personally authored to view during the meal which tell a bit about castle Combe and its history. Very quiet and quaint tea room. We loved it and highly recommend! MUST prebook, which can be done via email. More...

Lovely experience. Great staff good food. Worth the travel.
Loved the furnishings and the food was delicious
The scones x2 were divine with clotted cream and strawberry jam thoroughly enjoyed in a beautiful house, this is a must for anyone visiting the area.
My wife and I first stumbled onto this tea room - Thanksgiving day, 2011. It was early afternoon and we stumbled across the "tea room" sign as we were walking down the main street in Castle Combe. We rang the bell and Anna immediately welcomed us in. The tea room is in the main level of their home - a delightful old rectory. We felt welcome immediately! Anna had a warm fire in the fire place and we chose a spot on the couch next to the fire. Soon we had hot tea, the best scones we have ever had - with lots of Cornish clotted cream - as well as ginger cake. We could not believe how good the food was - and just how nice it felt to be in such an authentic building having home made scones and ginger cake. When we complemented Anna on the ginger cake she offered to share the recipe with us! It was such a warm and memorable experience that last week - five years later, we chose to return to Castle Combe, spend the night at the Manor House hotel next door and go by and see Anna again the following day. We stopped by the tea shop the next day and noticed Anna had added a little gift shop with tea cups and novelty tea and small decorations. Sadly, the shop and tea room was closed and we had to continue our trip - so unfortunately we weren't able to stop for tea and see Anna. I found her website online and sent her a quick note that we would love to purchase a small tea cup from her shop that we could use as a Christmas ornament. We collect little pieces of memorabilia from our favorite travel experiences. I asked if there was anyway we could purchase a little tea cup for our little girls to hang on our tree - over the phone and have it shipped to us before we left for the US in a few days. I got the nicest response back from Anna saying that she regretted not being open when we came by, and that she had found a small tea cup, packaged it up and sent it express mail to us so that we would have it before we flew back. We were so touched! I doubt she could remember us from five years ago - so as near strangers, she took the initiative to do that for us - and on top of it, wouldn't accept payment! I have lived in the UK for years when I was younger, and feel particularly fond of the British - but was simply blown away that Anna would go to all the trouble from a simple email. When I told our girls the story they thought we should leave the tea cup out all year to remind us each day to do something kind for someone else. Anyway, I'm sure if you are lucky enough to go to Castle Combe and stop in the Tea Room - you will be well taken care of. You may want to call, text, or email ahead to see what the hours are before you go. More...

I had a photo shoot at the Garbo studio, the photos were Great. By the time Anna has finished you look like a movie star.
Thank you Sam. One of the things I love about the type of photo shoot you had was being able to show you how easy it is to look and feel utterly glamorous. And you certainly managed to do that. It was great fun, hope you'll have another one in the future. Best wishes ANNA
An amazing experience. Anna made me feel completely at ease and did an fabulous job with the photoshoot. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Anna was very sensitive and sympathetic at understanding how I wanted to look. As an author, I wanted to look attractive and approachable and I think she has achieved that with some lovely photographs. I enjoyed the whole experience! Thanks you! More...
Thank you so much for your lovely review Pat. I look forward to and enjoy all my photoshoots, but I have to say, I particularly enjoyed photographing you and it was nice to have a relevant prop. I'm very pleased with how the photos have come out and look forward to perhaps seeing one on the back of your next novel!. With very best wishes Anna
I can't recommend this place high enough. I am 45 years old and I thought I would treat myself to some nice photographs so I can have something to look back on when I get old. I have always considered myself not to be very photogenic but I had heard from a friend how great Anna the photographer was, so I thought I would give it a go. On arriving at the studio which is in such a beautiful place in Castle Coombe, Anna sat me down and asked me what exactly what I wanted from the shoot and really made me feel at ease. The few hours I was there was great fun and I have never felt so relaxed in front of the camera, Anna was so easy to chat to and I had a great time. When I actually saw the photographs what had been taken I was speechless, I looked amazing and I couldn't wait to show my family and friends. I honestly can't rate this experience high enough and I would happily show anyone the photos if in doubt. More...
Hi Colette, thanks so much for your lovely review. I really enjoyed doing the photo shoot for you and despite all your doubts about being able to take a good photo or pose well, I think I proved you wrong!. You really did look wonderful in them and it was great fun to meet you. Hope you'll come back again sometime, perhaps with the family. Many thanks Anna
Anna is friendly and professional and immediately puts you at your ease - even when you are not comfortable in front of a camera. The results are lovely and I have some rare and precious photographs of my children that I actually feature in for once. More...
Hello Dorcas, thank you for your review. I thought the children were great sports and really got into the spirit of things. We had great fun and the girls looked amazing in all my totally over the top hats!. Ruben was more interested in the guinea pig though and we did get some lovely shots of him. Hope you'll come back with the whole family sometime and the dog and we can do an outdoor shoot for you. Many thanks once again. Anna

Thank you Marilyn for your kind review. It was fun and you looked wonderful. I'm glad the canvas prints came out well and you liked them. Hope you'll come back again in the future to do some more. Hi Charlaine, I'm so pleased you liked your family photo shoot. I know we only managed to squeeze in a few of you on your own at the end of your session, but I'm really excited and looking forward to doing you on your own hopefully during half term. You are going to look quite stunning and I have so many lovely outfits for you to pose in. Thank you also for your lovely review and editorial piece on Families Online. Looking forward to pampering and spoiling you when you return!. Best wishes Anna
We popped in today for a cream tea while visiting this lovely area. Great decision. Anna was a wonderful hostess, the scones and cakes were delicious and the Old Rectory was charming. So well worth a visit. A real treat. We will be back.. More...
I had some photos done at the Garbo studio, it was a great experience. Anna was really informative and passionate about the style of photos she takes. She has a grandma's attic style photo studio, packed full of vintage hats, costume jewellery and furs and outfits. Im not a natural poser suiting that era but Anna was great in showing me poses and put me at ease....I have some stunning pictures that I will proudly display for years. I highly recommend this for you if you fancy having some photos done and want them that little bit different. Thank you Anna x More...

A beautiful village, and the tea rooms are perfectly located in a gorgeous little cottage. The food was amazing, a lovely afternoon tea and great scones with jam and cream, all presented really nicely. Definitely would recommend!!
I had the pleasure of eating at The Old Rectory Tearooms last week. The welcome was second to none, the cream tea was fantastic-and having grown up in Cornwall I am hard to please on that score! I look forward to my next visit to these idyllic Tearooms More...

We had a really lovely time - the hostess was very welcoming and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend The Old Rectory Tearoom - it is charming.
Fabulous tearoom in the most beautiful village of Castle Coombe. I was recommended this place by a friend of mine who had visited a while ago. We booked for high tea for a group of six people as a treat for my mothers 60th birthday and we had a lovely afternoon. I have been to quite a few places for high tea and this was definitely one of my favourites. Everything was so fresh and plentiful with home made scones to die for.. The setting is just beautiful, so much character in one space. The lady who owns the tearoom Anna was lovely and really did go all out to make sure my mother had a fantastic afternoon. I would definitely recommend this place if you were to visit one of the prettiest villages in England. More...
My second visit. Excellent fresh scones with clotted cream and jam, washed down by a great pot of tea. Ambiance is very homely, and the hostess is charming, friendly and very welcoming, even though we were very wet as it was deluging outside. Thoroughly recommended.
We visited Castle Combe again recently and had a very nice afternoon tea in this charming, hospitable tea room, set in the heart of this historic and pretty village..Would definitely visit the village and tea room again! More...
Wonderful Tearoom, delicious chocolate cake. My husband had the cream tea and said it was the best scone he had ever tasted. Well worth a visit, not to be missed if you are visiting Castle Combe. The owner was very welcoming and as it was a quiet day (miserable and raining), she sat and chatted with us and told us all about the house and village life. Highly recommended. More...
When I visit Castle Coombe it's a little like travelling back in time, and the welcome I get whenever I stop at this cosy tearoom with its wonderful interiors makes me feel like I belong to this village, even if it's just for a few hours... Anna's scones are simply the best I have ever tried, and her artistic flair is obvious everywhere you look in the Rectory. A secret gem, truly recommended. More...
I don't normally write reviews but the owner requested us to do so if we had a good time. We felt the service, food and ambiance at this beautiful tearoom in Castle Combe warranted a write up. I visited today with a good friend of mine and we had a cream tea. Probably one of the best we've ever tasted. Anna, the owner also told us that you could hire the tearoom for a private party and she was a photographer and offered photo-shoot parties. We really enjoyed our visit and were made to feel so welcome. Well worth a visit . Will definitely come back again and recommend to friends. More...
Just wished to leave a review to thank the hostess so much for making our visit so worthwhile. As part of our visit we decided to treat ourselves to a lunch out. There was six of us and after a very scenic and pleasant walk in this beautiful area we descended upon her. Nothing was too much trouble and we we were so well looked after. Although we opted for toasted sandwiches and chips the food was displayed attractively and the tableware was so elegant. Everything tasted so appetising especially the homemade ginger cake. I just loved the decor felt i was dining in another era Thanks again and see you soon we hope. More...
I have been a couple of times and can only recommend it to every one wanting a first class experience. Anna, the host, is very warm and welcoming. Her tea is meticulously prepared and I have yet to manage to eat everything put in front of me! The place itself is beautifully presented and full of little quirky thing that she has lovingly collected over the years. If you want great afternoon tea, this is THE place to go! More...
