Knowledgeable coaches! Shout out to both Coach Sean and Coach Daniel for their hard work, time and dedication to the gym. Had a back injury in July which fortunately wasn't horrible, but it did keep me from exercising consistently for 3 months due to back pain . This event showed me the importance of good form when exercising, which I can say is better thanks to my coaches. To me, anything to improve my exercise technique is important since exercise is a lifestyle, sometimes like therapy. I am a Outrigger Canoe paddler and I have been paddling for over 17 years. I have always cross-trained outside of the canoe. I have done lots of different types of weight training, cardio, circuit, spin, Etc. This workout to me is so unique because it incorporates my sport into my strength and cross training, the guys at the fit lab understand the Dynamics of paddling which most personal trainers do not. I have had several personal trainers and you tell them about what you want but they don't get it unless they do it. So this is a whole new Avenue for me and everyday that I am there I get to work on my fitness level, my strength, and my stroke technique. I not only can watch myself on a ERG that is set up for Outrigger paddling someone else is watching me too. The crazy thing is you always think you're doing something a certain way because in our minds we know what we should be doing but our bodies aren't always doing it. Cant tell you how pleased I am with my RMR testing. Sean the owner made me feel extremely comfortable, explained each step of the test and was extremely knowledgeable about the test in general. It was a very comfortable test where I simply had to calmly breathe into a tube for about 12-22 min max while wearing a heart-rate monitor. As the test finished Sean gave me a detailed explanation of my results and I was very happy to find out I'm not "over working out" i do not have any alarming numbers and my RMR is about 3 % lower than my theoretical so overall very pleased and can wait to come back and check again to make sure i'm keeping safe ! As a figure bodybuilder on prep i push my metabolism hard and im happy to say i found a great marker of health along with a critical number to determine where to set my TDEE as i try to cut or add mass! Reasons I love the Fit Lab (and why you want to call Sean asap) 1. STATS. The Dunk Test tells all. Total weight is down ~8 lbs in a few months, but I've actually shed 17. 5 lbs. of fat and have built 10 lbs. of new lean muscle, which helps burn a ton of calories while I sit at my office desk all day every day. My body fat % is down from 32% to 21% (and I am aiming for 18% in the next month or two). My shape has completely changed, and my clothing size is now an XS in most things - down from a tight fitting Medium previously. 2. Sean P. (owner of the Fit Lab) is kind and intelligent trainer with a solid background in kinesiology. He is also a bad-ass Olympian. 3. The training at the Fit Lab is very UNIQUE. The methods are based on a highly-effective combination of functional/strength-training techniques & physique-defining techniques. Not only will you get stronger and feel great, but you'll also LOOK YOUR BEST. (My husband is achieving a sculpted, strong upper body & abs. I, on the other hand, am achieving lean muscles, flat abs, and a round, strong booty.) Their workouts are specifically designed to make the visual results happen quickly. 4. I get to tell my old orthopedic surgeon that he was 100% wrong when he said I would 'probably never be able to do a squat/lunge for the rest of my life with my knee injury'. I was doing both comfortably - with a lot of weight on my back - this AM at the Fit Lab, just a few months into one-on-one personal training with Sean!! I am blown away by how far I've come. 5. I am free of chronic knee pain in my daily life and can enjoy concerts/sporting events, hiking, swimming, and bike-riding again. Oh, and dancing in stiletto heels all night at 8 weddings this year! 6. My results were incredibly FAST and apparent, so I never worried that it was a waste of time or financial resources. 7. My husband has never looked better or stronger, and I appreciate the extra confidence it gave him - in all general aspects of his life - when he realized what he is capable of accomplishing. 8. I have never been as fit - or so happy in a bathing suit. 9. The sessions are one-on-one and you know that you have Sean's full attention throughout each training for max. safety and motivation. He is constantly providing exercise feedback, encouragement, and high fives. And he's great at counting reps in a way that pushes you through the struggle! 10. Sean is patient - but tough when he needs to be. I honestly don't know how he puts up with my whining some days, but I always leave feeling amazing and ready to tackle my day. Gym days used to be dreaded. Now they're my favorite part of the week. I cannot thank you enough, Sean P, for changing our lives! I had no idea it could be so fun or easy to achieve this. I went to The Fit Lab for hydrostatic bodyfat, BMR, and VO2 Max readings.  On those services I have the following to say:Extremely accurate (as long as you follow instructions properly), and very friendly staff.  I only interacted with Shaun for my testing, however he was professional, courteous, and surprisingly intuitive.  Very understanding of goals and life situation as well, and was able to even help out with my diet plan.  The service overall is pricey, yes, but no more so than other facilities and, given the equipment required for accurate testing, understandable.  I will definitely be coming back here after a few months to see my progress!Thanks again for your help, Shaun! I truly cannot say enough great things about The Fit Lab. As a person who has never worked out before I was a little timid about signing up. I am super pleased to say that I had absolutely NOTHING to worry about. I currently train with Sean, who is super patient, very knowledgeable,  and incredibly supportive and motivating. He is always pushing me to do better than I think I can do, all within healthy boundaries and making me feel really comfortable. His attitude is always positive and uplifting. The environment is fun and clean. I have learned so much, have seen real results, and actually look forward to workouts. Would highly recommend to anyone regardless of fitness level. I completed the 3 months personal training program with Sean, and I am so happy about my body which have not happened in a very long time. Sean gave me a detailed exercise and nutrition plan based on fitness testing and hydrostatic dunk test which was easy to follow, and I was able to drop down 2 dress sizes without stressing out. I have been driving by The Fit Lab daily on my way to work since it opened and finally decided to look it up online. A convenient exercise plan is the only way i could make something stick and not start and stop like I have before. I called and spoke to Sean and decided to get dunked to get my body fat tested. Needless to say I thought I was much less fat but it was interesting to have a statistic to show you that you need to work on yourself. Sean was super friendly and explained the whole process and we carved out some realistic goals and a diet plan to wrap everything together. Sean is the perfect fit for a personal trainer and business owner. He's always happy, energetic and super knowledgeable. My plan has been going very well and after going 3x/ week for 6 weeks I feel so much better. Im stoked to see what 4 full months does to my mind and body. There is no set in stone number of session or hard sell workout packages. Sean keeps me accountable to show up and I don't dread coming. It's the highlight of my morning and yes it does take hard work during the workout and I want to quit. If you're on the fence go see him and get dunked. You won't regret it and if you think it will be too expensive it won't be. It's worth every dime and more to take care of yourself. I contact Sean at the fit lab after a Google search of Hydrostatic body composition analysts. After reading a few different pages I sent Sean a email which he replied to at 8:30pm and after a few questions by 9pm I had a appointment set up for the next day. Sean was super informative and coached me through the whole process. We spoke about my goals, diet and training and he spent over all about an hour with me sharing his ideas of how to reach my goals. If you have been thinking about getting this type of test done Sean and the fit lab was perfect. I hope to be back in 2 months having reached my goal of 8%! More...

I have not hired a personal trainer before the fit lab. I used to wrestle and never thought i would let myself go so much. Realizing I need help to get me back on track, I decided to give the fit lab a shot. I could not have been more pleased. I have a personalized routine to achieve my goals and noticed more energy and I am more active after just 2 weeks of training. I would recommend fit lab to anyone who would like to be better than they are. I wanted to gain some weight, but I didn't realize not all weight is equal. I read about different forms of body fat testing and how hydrostatic dunk testing is considered the gold standard. I though it was going to be difficult because I had to be underwater but the team at the fit lab made the experience easy. I now know my body fat percentage and Sean and Mike educated me about lean mass vs fat mass and tips to gain the proper weight. These guys are not only pros but friendly and cool. More...

Love it here! It's away from the hustle and bustle so it's really private, which is what I was looking for. It's close to the freeways and easy to get to. Plenty of parking in the lot. All their equipment is brand spanking new and the facility is clean and well maintained. The lab offers personal training with nutrition planning and they also offer fitness testings. I've been athletic all my life but wanted to take my fitness up a notch so I decided to get some personal training. It's so worth the money! I like that I don't have to wait to use the equipment, don't feel self-conscious, I get corrected throughout my exercises so I don't injure myself, and I learn so much about health and fitness, which I think is key to a healthy happy and long life. Sean P has been an amazing trainer and have helped me define and reach my fitness goals. I just wanted to "get fit" but together we figured out what that means for me and what I needed to do in order to get fit. I always look forward to my bi-weekly hydrostatic body fat composition test aka dunks because the test results will tell me how I am improving and if I am close to reaching my goals. The dunk tank does not lie!! We've adjusted my training and nutrition program accordingly with the results so I can stay on track to achieve my goals. I have been going to The Fit Lab for almost 2 weeks +. The staff is friendly but also focused on getting the best results for you personal goals. I am totally getting results from the personal training and nutrition guidance for the best results with Sean Pangelinan. I have a broken back, but with the focused training and supervision, I am getting stronger! My family and friends have noticed changes. I have gotten compliments from a lot of my family and friends and it shows in my overall attitude! Progress to a healthier and fit me!I love the TRX exercises that I have never tried before. I have known Mike for ten years now (I am about to drop so much needed knowledge for all you in San Diego). Mike took me under his wing guiding me step by step through the process of what needed to be done to reach my fitness goals. I went from having general knowledge of nutrition and exercise to taking command of what I saw in the mirror because of him. He is more than just your average run of the mill trainer.
