My favorite sandwich place in Chicago. Food truck guys turned food hall guys turned brick and mortar restaurant guys. I came on a very quiet Sunday afternoon and this hit the spot. Previously have had truffle BLT (appx 15 times cause it's so good). Ginger lemonade hits the spot with a Sammy when you don't feel like a beer. I recommend coming on a Sunday because I would hate to see this place go out of business More...

Glad I got the recommendation from a coworker to try them out. Shallot dishes out well portioned artisanal sandwiches on a range of fantastic breads. Leaned towards the pesto chicken which didn't disappoint. With a mix of arugula chicken pesto and artichokes the flavors were intense. The only down side is I would have liked the chicken a bit warmer but overall it was on point. Got a side of the tomato basil which was great on the breezy day and offered a nice side to dip my sandwich and get some of that delicious basil into the sandwich bread. They have massive cookies that you shouldn't miss out on if you have a few calories to spare. Overall I would say the food is great, line was fairly fast and the service was pretty good as well. Another great spot to visit in the revival market. More...

So I tried a few different things here and even though I can appreciate the effort to put something new out there, the flavors just didn't land for me. I liked the buffalo chicken sandwich the best. The coleslaw and potato salad had very strong flavors and it was just too much. I was not feeling the aoli and the cucumbers on the turkey sandwich. Decadence is the primary objective of The Fat Shallot. Pretty much everything on the menu is buttery and/or rich. The Reuben and Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches are my favorites. They cure the corned beef in house and it's really, really good. For the chicken sandwich they use breaded, fried then sauced chicken tenders.I suggest washing down the cholesterol with a refreshing Vodka Ginger-Lemonade. Another housemade ingredient that's addictive. During a recent visit I also tried the Vanilla Soft Serve with Chocolate Sauce and Caramel Corn. ..not as amazing as it looks or sounds, but very solid. Didn't go for 5-stars because they tend to over sauce the sammies throwing off the balance of flavors, even the Rosemary Truffle Fries have too much aïoli. I've mentioned to the chef, but dismissed the feedback saying it's intentional :-\ Still a great option for sandwich lovers. More...

I honestly didn't know that sandwiches could be so good until I came here. I've been to the Fat Shallot at the Revival Food Hall, but this locations menu is much larger. And honestly, everything is delicious.I came here with a die hard Reuben lover who was visiting from the east coast. Trust me, this guy has had many a Reuben in his life. And his words, not mine, this place has the best Reuben BY FAR that he had ever had in his life. The truffle BLT is also fresh, light, delicious, and stacked with bacon and flavor. (See that sweet sweet cross section in the photos)The fries are also remarkable. I prefer the spicy aioli to the truffle fries, but both haunt me in my sleep. There is not a single thing about this place that I dislike. They serve alcohol plus lychee and mango flavored beverages, which they let you sample if you ask. The food and the service are both the highest quality you could possibly find in this city. Chewie (forgive me if I misspell this name) was the person at the register when I was here, and his kindness, consideration, and all-in-all incredible personality made this experience better than I could imagine. He will always stop to answer any questions you have about the food, give awesome recommendations, and any requests you have will be heard and followed.Best sandwiches in Chicago and definitely one of my favorite places to eat. Have y'all heard of Ravinia Food Truck Thursdays? No? Well, it's a gathering of different food trucks at Jens Jensen Park in Highland Park that runs from June 'til September. I found out that the Fat Shallot is gonna be there this year, so I did some major Insta-sleuthing, drooled from the photos, and made it a mission to pop in and see what's up. Fast-forward to the moment I finally bit into their truffle BLT. Wowza. First and foremost, they did not skimp on the bacon. I'm a bacon crusader, so there's no such thing as too much bacon. Bacon kept falling out of the sandwich every time I bit into it, and it wasn't too crispy, in fact, it's a bit chewy just how I like it. Second, the truffle flavor and distinctive aroma were there but it didn't overpower the sandwich. 'Truffle' gets thrown around so easily these days -- truffle-flavored this and that but it's rare to actually taste it. Even though it's truffle oil that they use, this is the closest thing I can get to the stuff, so it was a win for me. Went straight to umami town. More...

I was skeptical about the Truffle BLT, but how could anyone ever go wrong with a classic BLT with the added bonus of TRUFFLE aioli? ! Slices of buttered challah bread house the layers of crispy bacon, fresh avocados, peppery arugula, and tomatoes. An elevated classic I must say. Would recommend to anyone who has a truffle fetish like moi. Also, tried the Spicy fries, recommended by the guy behind the register. Good choice, I loved it. Fries were golden crisp. The sesame flavor in the sauce was delicious, but I wish there was an option to make it spicier because for someone who enjoys spice on the regular it wasn't spicy at all for me. Fat Shallot is a terrific addition to the neighborhood - my only regret is that it's taken me so long to visit this location! I came on a Friday evening with my fiancé and there were just a handful of patrons scattered about the restaurant. We already snacked a bit before coming, so we just ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich, truffle fries, and the lychee iced tea.EVerythign was amazing! The buffalo chicken sandwich had the perfect balance of sauce (with a kick of spice) and chicken. Even though the chicken was slathered in sauce, it was still crispy. The shaved celery also added a nice crunch to the whole sandwich. The fries were seasoned perfectly with salt and herbs. You could really taste the truffle in the aioli. I was a big fan of the lychee iced tea too because it wasn't too sweet. Even though we technically only ordered 1 meal to share, we were both SO FULL by the end. This will probably be a go-to for us moving forward whenever we're craving a heavier meal. I can see this being a very effective hangover cure. More...

Welcome to the neighborhood, Fat Shallot! After hearing such fantastic things about the food truck version of this spot, I was psyched to give it a try recently on a Sunday evening. .. especially after learning alcohol was available inside. :)My boyfriend and I showed up around 7pm on a somewhat rainy evening and there were plenty of seats available. I perused the menu and though there weren't an overwhelming amount of sandwich options, every possible choice looked INCREDIBLE, so it was difficult to choose. After going back and forth between several options, I landed on the pulled pork sandwich, topped with slaw and jalapeño, with a can of Lil' Rascal rosè to pair with it. My boyfriend ordered the ginger salad and a bourbon iced tea. I would also love to note that there were so many creative alcohol options that I am already excited to come back, even just to grab a drink. We both really enjoyed our food. The pulled pork portion was gigantic and was served with a fork because it was literally overflowing with slaw and pork, just as it should be! The Fat Shallot was a bright spot in my day! I've had lunch from their food truck, but it's been a while since my schedule has allowed me to coordinate with their curbside sightings on Clark. The brick and mortar installation in Revival Hall Food Court is a guaranteed way to get my fix whenever I'm downtown during business hours.I love a good quality, substantial sandwich, but most places leave me feeling cheated when ordering one from their menu. Therefore, I usually stick to making my own at home to satisfy my crave. Enter Fat Shallot with their winsome ways, nerdy names, and cunning combinations. It's topped with remoulade sauce, slaw and pickled jalapeños in a French roll. The remoulade sauce is delicious and added just the right spicy kick.I suggest using a fork to start with since the roll can't contain the meat.
