Lovely cosy country pub with a warm atmosphere and friendly staff.There is a fantastic log burner which keeps you toasty warm. Visited The Farmers Boy Inn on Friday and was completely amazed with all the changes. Fantastic newly refurbished restaurant and beer garden. Manager Matt and his team were so welcoming on our arrival and it was great to see Phil again. It was only supposed to be a flying visit however I took the best option to stay over in the rooms for 1 Night and have to say I love the decor. Managed to get a last minute table this evening for myself, the Husband and our 2 children. Heard really good things but nothing quite prepared us for just how good it is. We had a bit of a wait for our starters but we couldn’t complain as we were so last minute and they were very busy however the barman came over and offered us a free round of drinks ( really kind but he didn’t have to ) Starters were worth the wait and mains were to die for. Best steak He has had in a long time and I highly recommend the steak and Stilton short crust pie.. out of this world! The children loves theirs. The staff clearly work very hard and the guy running the show was brilliant! Made time to fuss with my son and even brought the out free ice cream even though their cakes were en route. All the staff are incredible, The Farmers boy inn is an absolute Gem in the forest Looking forward to our return! More...

Arrived at around 12.30 on a Friday for lunch, we’re greeted warmly and seated on a lovely cosy table by the window. Plenty of choice on the main menu as well as the specials along with ample selection of beers, ciders, wines and spirits. We chose to skip starters, though they looked great, and both ordered from the award winning pie menu; my wife chose a ‘small’ chicken & chorizo pie with puff pastry and I had a large ‘dirty feckin pie’ with steak, black pudding and Stilton. A choice of potatoes (had chips, got to be chips) along with seasonal vegetables for me, mushy peas for my wife. Outstanding main course, plenty of good food to keep us going. Offered and accepted dessert menu, again, decent choices and I had the fantastic chocolate mousse and my wife, the strawberry cheesecake which she declared as delicious. All in all, a great meal experience. Warm welcome, well paced excellent service, great food and beer. We live locally so will be back as there are so many pies to choose from! More...
