Had family coming over and wanted me to make a meal for them all (9). It's really good to have a visit from them all. I decided to try and get a table at the Wishing Well in Selby, a reservation which was only 2 days away and in mid-December. I had seen their Christmas advertising which listed a Christmas Fayre meal, so with nothing to lose, and everything to gain, I gave them a call. Against my expectations, they were able to accommodate my request. That’s the problem solved I thought but what would it be like, being of a pessimistic nature, I feared the worse but hoped for the best. I need not have been concerned. We were shown to a long table which was set out with festive crackers and large enough to accommodate all of us. Drinks were ordered and the service of starters commenced. If there was to be a downside, this was it, but only for me. The starters looked really nice as they were brought to the table and placed before each guest… except for me, I was the forgotten one. When the mistake was realised, it was speedily rectified with a fresh preparation. Main course was a carvery and I have to say the Turkey was one of the best I have tasted, it was so moist, contrary to the common belief of dried meat, this was a comment made by all who had it. Finishing off with Christmas pud and cream was a fitting end to the meal. Overall I would not fault this experience and would certainly recommend it. I understand the Wishing Well has a mid-week carvery which I will definitely be trying in the New Year. More...

Have stayed at The Wishing Well three times now and will continue to do so. The staff are all friendly and there's a decent enough pub menu. It's a twenty minute drive from the mcarthur glen outlet, and York park and ride (much cheaper than parking in york itself). The only thing that could be really improve upon is the breakast. It takes a while to come because it's cooked to order, the real issue is that the food seems to come out barely cooked, even when it was asked for well done, it came out how i would cook it normally. I would advise they look at the lift as the grating noise it makes between 1st and 2nd floor terrified my daughter. I will definitely stay again however. The niggles are outweighed by the overall postive experience. More...

stopped here for 2 nights while in the area visiting friends. Very happy with the hotel stay overall the room was clean and bed and pillows were comfortable. Overall i would say that it was starting to look tired in places and could be done with a lick of paint and a general refurb in places. ||On the accessibility side now its disappointing that the two entrance doors into the hotel aren't automatic this would be difficult for those in a wheelchair or scooter and not travelling with a carer. ||I have multiple disabilities but for me the main concern was there was only a shower over the bath in a disabled room i feel in a disabled room there should be at least a shower if not a wet room. There were also no shower stool in the bath which is something i need to use at home so i had to risk fainting in the shower because of the lack of stool and i couldn't go without on this occasion has i had a christmas party near by. ||Overall it's functional and no thrills approach and perfect for one maximum two night stay. ||They offer ground floor rooms but also have lift access to the upper floors. ||However when comparing to something of a similar rating like a travelodge it does need some improvements. ||The Food in the restaurant was very good however i will do a full review on the restaurant on there trip advisor page. || More...

We have stayed 2 times now and the food is good and the room is comfortable but the mattress was to singles pushed together and it needs to be a double to prevent it dipping in the middle bit over all a nice stay at a reasonable cost and would go back.

I was invited to a birthday party in Thorpe Willoughby,Selby and this was the nearest hotel to the location, So let me start by saying that this hotel has got alot of bad reviews and i really dont think its that bad, ok so its no Premier Inn and its no Travelodge, and i must admit that the room i stayed in does need a little bit of attention but it was clean, and i think £60. 00 was a bit steep in price, checked in at the hotel and the receptionist (i think she said her name was beth) very poilte and very friendly and was helpful, the only issue i had (which is no fault of the hotel) is that who ever was above me in room 14 was walking up and down at stupid 0clock and was making the ceiling creak, and i mean this was like at 4am in the morning, i didnt have breakfast in the morning as it was too late as i didnt wake till 9.30am (thanx to the idiot walking up and down his/her room) So would i stay there again Yes i would if i was in the area but its very rare that i go to Selby More...

The Fairway is a nice hotel for one or two nights, good value and comfortable. The bathroom could have been cleaner when we checked in but it was rectified the following morning. The bed was comfortable, good breakfast and friendly staff. We had a nice meal in the restaurant which was good value at 2 for 1. We would stay there again. More...
