Excellent intimate space, original to its roots and with an eye towards the future The Clarendon Hotel is a mid century wonder in the heart of Phoenix. They practice great customs service and the food at Tranquilo their in house option is actually worth the trip alone. From the experimental to the traditional the food does not disappoint. Last time I was there I asked for a custom order and the execution was flawless. Looking down at the burrito I asked for and tasting the authentic flavors truly transported me back to my childhood. Big thanks to whomever is behind the whole operation 💗

Won a two night stay at a charity auction and used it this weekend. The hotel is a remodeled older hotel downtown Phoenix. It is bright and very inviting. It is dog and kid friendly and a fun place to stay. The rooms are suites, with a spacious living room and large bedroom. The bed was very comfortable and the room updated and nice. There is a mini fridge and bar area, and all the usual amenities. One caution, it's was a bit warm despite having the air set as low as it could go...but it was 115° outside. The pool area is great and vibrant, with plenty of towels and chairs. I'd definitely recommend this hotel, great stay!

The hotel was recently renovated. Loved our room! The decor was great. The pool was smaller than other hotels I've been to, but still a lot of fun. There is plenty of seating around it, along with several cabanas. And the pool itself has a bench seat all the way around. Maybe it's the size or the adjacent, extra-large spa, but it was also really warm!

This is really an awesome hotel! Truly a hotel like no other that I have been to. The midtown location is perfect and you're close to everywhere you want to be. What I loved about this hotel is the amazing and interesting artwork, decor, colors, and the overall vibe! The guest rooms are absolutely clean, beautiful, and so comfortable. The beds and pillows were heavenly - I didn't want to get up! The service was friendly and professional. Let me not forget the awesome food in the restaurant, Cafe Tranquillo. Absolutely the BEST Mexican food that I've ever had. I brought a group of 10 friends and treated them to dinner. We had an amazing time catching up over fresh guacamole, street tacos, and hand-crafted cocktails. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an experience they won't soon forget!

Stayed an extra night just because we were loving the stay. Get the tacos downstairs and happy hour is daily from 11-7. Great prices for starters. The room was contemporary and accommodating to our needs which included hosting guests. Modern amenities and ash overall great nights rest. Amazing bed and will for sure return soon. Got to stay at least once to sample a Phoenix great.

Amazing staff, not a five star hotel, but very much could be. I would love to say 4.5. There are just a few small things that could be done with the right contracting company to give it the little boost it needs. However, the Staff is super friendly and accommodating, facility is very nice, and best near the hospital for the price they charge. Deff a five star staff, the pace just needs a little more renovation done and will be the best in town at any price.

This place is beautiful! We arrived late at night and we were still in awe when we saw it. Absolutely breathtaking landscaping. The rooms are really nice. They have very stylish decor and are very comfy.

Nice casual place. Hung out on rooftop until 10pm when they closed. Thought that was early for a Saturday night. Everyone was having a nice, casual time. Drinks are a bit pricey as well. Honestly though, it was a nice experience. It's not a party zone but a nice place to relax with a nice view.

This is a very young, hip hotel. The immaculate rooms are very modern and stylish. There were luxury items in the room like robes and high-end toiletries, but no ice buckets. It definitely is catering to a childless crowd. The on-site bar and restaurant were excellent. My only complaint is that I could not reach anyone at the spa to book an appointment, even though I started trying before our arrival. I hate it when a hotel advertises "and spa" but the front desk has zero information on how to access said spa because it is independent from hotel.

We only stayed one night, we did get to enjoy a cocktail on the rooftop and it was beautiful! We are looking forward to coming back and enjoying the pool! Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We usually stay downtown when we go to games, but this was a welcomed change up! $7 for a 10 minute Uber ride downtown...or you can take light rail which looked only a block away. Great alternative to some of the big chains! Oh and loved that the restaurant stayed open till midnight allowing us some great food and cocktails to end our evening!

Neat hotel off the beaten path. I had dinner & breakfast in the restaurant & was not disappointed. I would definitely stay again. The only negative was at breakfast when the server said the word, "can't." I have been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years & have always trained my staff to never use the word "can't." I am unable to eat eggs due to an allergy. I asked to substitute fruit instead of eggs and the word "can't" was used. No alternative was even offered.

Very nice and cozy hotel. This place is 1h away by walking from the city downtown. However, it is a nice place where spend your holiday. There’s a swimming pool accessible until 9 pm. The rooms are like mini apartments with spacious living room. Coffe machine and fridge available. The staff is very friendly and professional.

Close by there are restaurants and groceries shop.

The hotel pool was very pretty but the service was beyond terrible. Our group had paid for two cabanas and with the cost, you would assume there would be some sort of personalized service. There was only one waiter serving the entire pool and his pace was beyond slow. It took about 30 minutes for us to even be greeted. I requested to see a cocktail menu (my 1st mistake) and 40 minutes later the menu arrived. We ordered a round of drinks and those took another 25 minutes to show. Our group had come preparing to have several rounds of cocktails and potentially food as well. Quite the missed revenue for the hotel. I would not recommend the hotel to anyone looking for an Arizona pool day.

What a difference a few years makes. The place looks better than ever. Well appointed rooms. Very nice. Each room is spacious and set up like a true suite, the pool area did not skimp on the amenities either. Let me not forget the staff, always pleasant and knowledgeable about the hotel as well as the area.

I'm pretty sure this use to be an apartment building but there is little to no mark of that. This place is edgy and cool. The food at the restaurant was great and the staff was super nice.

The hotel was nice but how is it a suite when there is no door between the bedroom and sitting area. Not too mention, the furniture was a bit too modern for my taste. When they had first opened after the renovations on this hotel, the rooms were quite nice and had made many pieces of art into innovative and interactive design cues. They are all gone now and the hotel is sadder for it. I mourn their loss.

My stay was wonderful. Nice and helpful staff. Located in the middle of a lot of things. Room was clean, beds were comfortable. We received unlimited snacks and soda/water from the hotel which was pretty awesome. Would definitely stay again.

This is a hip, comfortable hotel near downtown Phoenix. It's pretty close to the light rail and has free bikes, so it's easy to get around. The beds are comfy, rooms are clean, and the wifi is free. The staff were friendly. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay.

Boutique awesomeness! Great Mexican restaurant on site. And a beautiful roof top terrace. Service is always number 1. Definitely a keeper and place to come back to.

Legendary queer chic boutique hotel in the heart of gay Phoenix, this is a great place to stay if you want to see and he seen, party and get naked, or just hide away in the spacious well appointed modern rooms. Pool area is fun, and the on-site Mexican restaurant is really, really good. Only complaint is the resort fee, but when you get half of it back in breakfast vouchers it doesn't hurt that much.

Good looking building, nice parking lot ( which you have to pay for a spot, $10, And this why they lose a star. I mean I pay for a room, why don't I get a spot..), nice staff. Room is very funky, 60-70s retro which was cool, the couch is very cool, nice big comfortable bed, tiny bathroom( don't expect to share the shower with your partner, another star loss). Over all cool experience but probably won't go again with all the additional costs.

Had a great stay here. Their service was fantastic, agents at the front were so nice and helpful. There was a discrepancy at the end but April and the GM took care of it so quickly.

There are open air hallways and the pool area is lovely. The restaurant is nice and the hotel is renovated and looks really awesome inside!

I could not be happier, would absolutely recommend them, and I will definitely be back!

This was our 2nd time staying there but the first as a staycation. The Clarendon Hotel has staff who are friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean, beautiful and stylish. The Tranquilo restaurant has incredibly delicious food and Jacob was the best server ever. The rooftop bar had such a beautiful of the city line. We had zero complaints. We will definitely be going back for another staycation.

Love the Clarendon! I’ve never stayed overnight but when I lived in Phoenix I used their pool often! It’s open to locals for a small fee. Beautiful & clean space, friendly staff. Food & drinks are yummy & reasonably priced. Definitely recommend :)

Mindy Loleng, the Catering, Events & Room Sales Manager, was a joy to work with on our event! She answered emails within 24 hours, always answered questions thoroughly, and was genuinely excited about the event we planned! It is rare these days to have an easy time planning a big event. A huge shout out and thank you to Ms. Mindy Loleng!

I had an amazing time at your oasis. I went to an event and by far this is the best venue in Arizona. From the rooftop and views to the way the entire building is laid out is just stunning. The staff behaved as if they had been throwing huge galas forever! Even during the busiest part of the night they took the time to find gluten-free options for me to eat. If I had my way I'd be there every night! ...home run all the way, love you all, I hope I get to stay overnight at the next function.
Part 2 WOW! I could write a book about the fantastic venue, service, staff, event, love... five stars are not enough. First, with an event that HAD to tax ANY staff to the max, they still found time to pull a miracle and get me a last minute room. When I arrived, hundreds people were there, my name wasn't on a list, this is where everything usually would unravel. People scurried off and in less than ten minutes I was in my room! Miracle number 2!
Next was the room, wow, I'm an OCD resort staff's nightmare and even I couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with the room. Even the temperature was perfect when I walked in. I felt like this was a VIP suite booked a year in advance in liue of being squeezed in an hour before. Mindy, the event coordinator must have a team of 100 amazing people working for her 24/7 because she handled the most amazing party I have ever been to like a champ. Flawless.
Miracle 3 so, it's 1 a.m. and I have not been prepared and I'm starving. I arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes too late, if you know me this is my luck LOL. I'm pouting in the lobby because I am allergic to wheat and there really are no snacks that I can have and honestly I need food. When it seems like there's absolutely nothing that can be done again in the middle of the night this time people and staff appear and make magic happen. They find me the most amazing pizza delivery that actually has gluten free crust to deliver to my room. I literally did a happy dance in the lobby. I couldn't have felt more catered to and I am nobody special and I definitely didn't have any kind of reservations! No one was expecting me and these people really went out of their way for everyone. I we'll stay here every chance I get definitely recommend it to everyone I know.

If you want excellent customer service, beautiful rooms with all accommodations you will love this hotel. I had a wonderful vacation at this beautifully decorated hotel. If I am staying in Phoenix this will be my home away from home. The owner Ben introduced himself and we had a lovely conversation he takes pride in his establishment. Thanks for a fabulous stay.

My daughter moved to Phoenix. Her apartment is too small for me and my wife. This place was close. Rooms are fine. If you book direct with hotel, you get 10 off breakfast. The breakfast is a la carte. It's better than a buffet. I will use this place next time I come.

I absolutely love the Clarendon and the staff! Mindy is amazing and made sure we had a great time, as well as making sure we got the free night stay since we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. We'll be back very shortly. This is a great go-to destination for out of town guests and staycations!

The Clarendon is a boutique motel. It's not 5-star but I don't think it's trying to be. Room was decent, amazingly comfortable bed and AC kept the room nicely cold. My room was on the first floor and the pool was right outside my door. It was noisy, not gonna lie, but once the pool closes it's nice and quiet. Would definitely stay again.

Love! I've stayed many times over the years and it just keeps getting better! The staff are super nice and friendly, and the restaurant, Tranquilo, is outstanding; fish & shrimp tacos! For breakfast, the homemade granola with fruit, whipped cream and honey is soooo good. The wait staff are great too. I didn't want to leave! Jacuzzi was just what I needed after a long day, sax player was warming up on the roof top for their gig that night and I felt like he was playing just for me! Hotel is in a great location, close to great restaurants. Beds are super luxurious and with the thick walls at this hotel, you will sleep so soundly. My 5 yr old and I can't wait to go back. Her fave things...the pool and elevator. My fave things..everything! Can't think of one bad thing, and I'm pretty critical.

I stay in hotels a lot. I'm obsessed with staycations, and this is by far my favorite place to stay. The staff is incredibly accommodating and go out of their way to make each stay memorable. The rooms are fun and colorful, and the beds super comfortable. There's always something to do whether it's delicious food & drinks at Tranquilo, taking in the sunset at the rooftop lounge, or swimming in the pool and lounging in the massive hot tub. Free snacks, candy and soda are also available at the front desk 24/7! Such a fun property and can't wait to get back

Could be a nice hotel, however got in to check in and they had a paper saying pool was closed for two more weeks (nothing posted on website) THEN icing on the cake, woke up to jack hammering in the pool! Thank goodness for Hotwire understanding and moving us hotels. They should not be advertising hotel with pool, right now, when booking. Their resort fees were still outrageous, and they waived our $10 parking fee for being disappointed about the pool. Disappointed, I was excited to stay here and seemed to look like a good atmosphere otherwise.

We spent most of the day at the pool in the cabana. There was only one server for outside and it took forever to get anything. When it was time to go to our room they had checked someone else into the same room and the keys didn’t work. We had to spend time figuring out what was going on before it was finally resolved. The staff was friendly but the overall experience was poor.

My Wife and I had a great staycation at The Clarendon. Loved the renovation to the Hotel. Both the phone & TV didnt work in the room but we didnt spend much time in there anyway. The pool was nice but does need to be re-done and made bigger. (Get rid of the hot tub or just make it smaller and use the space for the pool.) Customer service is really dry. I thought it was just the server working the pool area but later in the evening we found the same dry personality from the bartender and from our waitress. That being said the food and drinks were excellent, and the free unlimited snacks is an excellent perk to the visit. We will be back and might even make it a Memorial weekend tradition.

Went to here to have a mini staycation with friends and was very disappointed. Bought a cabana with our friends and what it came with is hardly what we got. They only had 1 server serving the entire outside pool area and she was completely overworked and overwhelmed. Our drinks and food took more than an acceptable amount of time even with only one server. Constantly asking for pool towels and were told “only ten more mins” several times. 2.5 hours later they only brought out 7 towels for at least 40 people out there This is just the pool area.

Now on to the actual hotel: We checked into our room smoothly but was later inconvenienced because they had our reservation confused and double booked our room because of a “computer glitch” and tried to move us. Went to take a shower and come to find out only 1 towel in out entire room for 2 people. Not even a hand towel. Terrible experience but nice enough staff.
