This was my first visit and I loved it. Service was extremely friendly but professional. We were attended to very quickly and our drinks order was taken immediately. The food were delivered within 15 mins of our order. The manager was present in the dining area and helping to ensure a great experience. Style over substance was our experience of the Castle Inn unfortunately. You couldn't wish to meet nicer, more helpful staff ,however, that's where the great experience stopped for us.
We stayed at the Castle Inn with our dogs and on first impression we were pleased with our room but ,however, it soon became apparent the rooms facilities were totally impractical: Windows which wouldn't stay open, the shower flodded the wet room & no counter or shelving to place toiletries/make up on when getting ready.
In the morning we were shocked to be told that our room deal only included the price of a continental breakfast?! This was not made clear during the booking process and was the icing on the cake for us not to return!
The Castle Inn also charge £10 per dog which when added on to the pricey room charge makes the stay very expensive.
When paying I shared my disappointment with that checking out staff who took note of my complaint but to be honest I wished I'd requested the manager as I feel
I was due a reduced price on the room/experience. Over priced & overated which is such a shame for a hotel with so much promise.

Excellent fit us in at short notice. Very dog friendly and we were looked after really well. Only negative was my sandwich cane dripped in cheese and that wasn’t the description on the menu.

Recently visited for breakfast. Ordered toast and coffee for 4 which came to £18.20. When it came, we were each served only one slice of thin toast each (a slice of cheap loaf of bread at that) with such a small amount of butter we only had enough for one of the four slices and had to ask for more. When we queried the amount, it emerged we had been charged £6.20 for the 4 slices of measly toast. We called afterwards to query this as didn't want to make a fuss but were told 'that's just what it costs'. I am not ordinarily one to complain but I think this is a case of being disgustingly overcharged. More...

We randomly stopped on our travels and had a late lunch! Beautiful place, very helpful and friendly staff and had the best ever Ribeye Steak, served with Garlic Fries, Home-made Onion Rings and attention to detail on the grilled fresh Tomato (the core was taken out by the chef, which I always leave!!). Went again today for Sunday lunch we took our Bulldog the food was lovely big thanks to the staff for helping out when our dog was having issues with low blood sugar nothing was too much trouble bringing honey out for him which did the trick...definitely a dog friendly pub! We only ever use the Conservatory as it allows our dogs - but the food as always was excellent, the 10 meals priced at £10 option gives a greater choice and staff were happy to add sides to these. I’m afraid to say it, but yet again we are left disappointed. This was our second time to visit The Castle Inn. The first time was within the first month of opening under new management (Last year) We were a table of 10 seated in the Stable block. The food was mediocre, and the service was slow. We got left and forgotten. We put this down to teething troubles and finding there feet.
This was our second experience. And I’m gutted to say, they haven’t up’t their game at all.
My husband asked for a gluten free alternative to the Sunday roast menu. He chose the roast chicken. What came was two pieces of chicken, two potatoes, two mange tout (yes you read that right�) some uncooked courgette, and a thimble full of gravy. There was no substitute at all for having no Yorkshire pudding and no stuffing.
Although we were compensated for the lack of food on my husbands plate by the manager knocked it off the bill, it wasn’t just the food that let them down.
It wasn’t busy when we arrived with only a handful of tables occupied. We were seated at a table in the corner. It was filthy with the remnants of the previous guests lunch all over it. We bought this to the attention of the young waitress who had just brought over a jug of water and some glasses. She apologised and came back with a disinfectant spray and cloth. She then began spraying, well, everything. The table, our water glasses (she had just put down) my sons toys, and anything in its path.
It took 15 minutes for her to return and wanting to take our food order. At which point we had to ask where were our drinks that she had taken our order on. To which she replied ‘oh, haven’t they arrived yet?’ Looking at a table with no drinks on it. No apology given.

I am in the customer service and catering industry myself. And it is the smallest of detail that can have the biggest impact and also the potential to rectify all the other ‘bigger’ problems! Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of understanding and empathy from a staff member.
This restaurant/pub has the potential to be amazing. It has a gorgeous setting and beautiful interior. But due to its poor customer service and lack of attention to detail it will only ever be mediocre.

We enjoyed lunch here as a group of 14 and the service and food were both fantastic. Everyone commented on how perfect it was - all delicious, vegan option catered for as well as being fully wheelchair accessible. We had the barn room and had plenty of space for push chairs etc. too and the team were so accommodating and happy to help, we could take our time and had an amazing afternoon. A big shout out to all the staff at the Castle Inn who helped to make my husbands 50th so special and made sure the evening went really smoothly and all of our guests were well looked after and catered for. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
The food is always delicious and good quality even when managing a large group of people.
This is the first time staying over - we stayed in the Skipton room and it was magical we loved it. I have no hesitation recommending the Inn to any of my friends - thank you �
