FUCKING AMAZING! Was in town from Charleston to ring in the New Year. My crew visited a number of places, restaurants & breweries. Broken Spoke was on the list & they most certainly did not disappoint! Got to tour the place & enjoyed delicious Screw Drivers! We had a damn good time ringing in the New Year @ The Broken Spoke! I stopped by The Broken Spoke this afternoon with 3 other people, and I had a great experience. This Irish pub is next door to the Great Wagon Distillery Company, where homemade vodka and whiskey are distilled. Since The Broken Spoke is the taproom for the Great Wagon Distillery Company, I had to try a whiskey or vodka based drink. I tried  "The Other Irish Coffee" and got it cold (it can be ordered hot or cold). It was delicious, but all the whiskey-based drinks are pretty strong, so if you don't like the taste of alcohol or whiskey then you might think it's too heavy on the alcohol. I also tried the Key Lime Mule, and it was perfect. It's vodka based, and tasted just like key lime pie! You couldn't taste the alcohol at all. On the menu, my group tried the Garlic knot meatballs, the chimichurri steak bites, and the elk/gruyere flatbread. The 2 meatballs were perfectly seasoned in a flaky crust, the steak bites were too small a portion for my taste but were crispy and delicious, and the flatbread was both sweet and savory. The pub itself reminds me of a speakeasy; the decorations are dark but tasteful, and there's a lounge on the second floor. If you're into local whiskey or want to try some delicious food, you should definitely give The Broken Spoke a try ! More...

I've taken the tour twice and bought bottles of whiskey. Today a friend and I decided to have drinks and wings. She had old fashioned and rua bbq wings. I had Manhattan and lemon pepper wings. My wings were good but hers were better lol. Next time I'm I'm ordering rua bbq. My drink was awesome! I bought a bottle of Drumlish today. This is a good location with friendly staff. I'll be back again and again. More...

The atmosphere inside is one of the perks of this place. Honestly, you can get a drink anywhere, but most people go to a place for how it makes them feel. The inside is softly lit, but not dark. It's kind of comfortable and elegant without being snobbish. My company had their Christmas party here and it was great. There were two bartenders, which kept things moving. The Broken Spoke catered and the food was top notch. I had never had the food there, but would definitely try it again. More...

Phenomenal craft cocktails. It's really that simple. If you want a delicious cocktail, this is the place to come. Yes the prices for a cocktail are a bit high, but you're paying for the quality. They distill their own liquor right next door, and it's all they use in their drinks. So don't come here expecting to order a particular brand name liquor. We've tried some of the food, mostly as appetizers, and it's been very good. This is a great place for a date or just hanging out with a group. Upstairs is a very comfortable lounge environment. Downstairs is a little bit more boisterous environment. This is one of our favorite places. More...

Here we go. This place has some amazing spirits across the board and they have some "OMG-Take-It-Out-of-My-Mouth" spirits. The smoothest vodka you'll ever taste... EVER. With these amazing baseseseses they put out some fabulous mixed drinks. Key Lime Mule... BABG! A must for any human that is alive and enjoys the love of a good woman and touch of a cute puppy's belly. This thing is out of this world, I mean I Hate... Hate Key Lime Pie but I'm telling you, this is what puts Key West on the map for me, Now, we all know I'm all about the ambiance but the only drawback of the Broken Spoke is the 1. noise and 2. the ability to get service when not at the actual bar. When you walk in due to it's super cool architecture, it's high ceilings and concrete column creates an acoustic vortex that is perfect for loudness to occur and it does. It always seems like they are under staffed, weather or not they are it just feels like it. Really hard to get eyes on you when you need a drink. Still, I will go back. More...

Came for happy hour and apps after work on a Friday. First fo all, major points for the decor and layout inside. There is ample table, booth, bar, and even couch seating and the wooden bar and light fixtures look amazing. There is also a very sizable outdoor seating area. Parking was a breeze and the service was very attentive. The cocktail menu is somewhat on the small size, but those I tried were well-executed. I had a Rum Babalu and a Feisty Irish Margarita. The former was solid but the latter really stood out. The jalapeno flavor was intense and made this one of the better margs I've had.For food, my wife and I shared the Sausage Rolls and Chimichurri Steak Bites. The sausage rolls were perfect. The sausage was spicy, the puff pastry was flaky, and the delicious whiskey mustard took it to the next level. I wouldn't change a thing about this dish. The steak bites had good flavor, but the meat was not as tender as it could have been.I really liked this place overall. It's a bit pricey, but I think the top notch ambiance makes the extra $ worthwhile. More...

What a cool lill place. Met up with friends for drinks and apps this afternoon and the hubby wanted to try this place. So glad he did cuz it was great. We ordered the sausage roll and the steak bites with chimichurri. We also got two drink I forget the first one hubby ordered cuz it was pretty forgettable but then we got the Irish margarita and wow was that good! As for the food the sausage roll was the stand out in the whole table for sure! The steak bites were def tasty too all tho they were slightly too chewy. But that's often the case when you cut up steak in that way. The chimichurri sauce and the pickled onions helped compensate with flavor.  I also got to taste the meatball garlic knots which were just meh.  I would 100% go back here JUST for that sausage roll and that marg!  The menu also had a few other things I wouldn't mind trying either. After several of our local friends recommended the Broken Spoke, we decided to hit it for a few hours on our way out of Charlotte. When we arrived, there was a slight rush of not too many people, but the bartender said they don't wait on tables, so we would have to order from the bar.  Okay, no problem.  However, it took me 20 minutes to get an order in (that's a bit long).  Then the bartender only took one order at a time, and made one order at a time.  Of the 4 of us, 3 drank the same thing... finish taking the entire order... and then MAKE THEM TOGETHER!  While the lady behind the bar was fun and friendly, she had no business on that side of the bar. We ordered the Roasted Thai Chili Cauliflower Florets and they were really nice, but my favorite was the Cajun Sausage Rolls   I highly recommend them! They Key Lime mule was a great idea, but poorly executed, and the cream separated within minutes.  But the taste was pretty close, I was impressed. If I lived here this would be a fun place at happy hour, but I'm not a huge fan of the normal prices. It does have an amazing patio, and a really friendly staff.4 STARS More...

If you go in person this place is AMAZING! Downside is if you fall in love with their food and ever want to call in a to-go order. They rarely ever answer their phone. Very frustrating. A first timer at the broken spoke.  A friend highly recommended this bar after getting filled up on beer.  As a newbie I attempted to order a specific kind of liquor.  I quickly learned that they are their own distillery. Oops!  I hope I didn't insult them. After looking at their large menu of cocktails I selected the key lime pie mule. OMG.    If you are a lover of key lime pie you have to try this refreshing cocktail.  It was amazing.  I could have had a gallons worth if I had enough money.  They were a bit pricey but then again they are their own distillery and the atmosphere was very classy a great bar to take a date. My friend brought me here to try their brie garlic bread... Which she raved about.  It did not disappoint..... The thing is amazing. ... Hot, gooey, cheesy, garlicky deliciousness.  The restaurant/bar itself is attractive and comfortable.  We sat at the bar to enjoy our drinks and food.  We ordered the appetizer crab cake in addition to the brie garlic bread.  They were a little too lemony for my liking (but I am from Maryland and can be pretty picky about my crab cakes).  I asked for a Moscow Mule to drink and received a spruced up version it was pretty good.  Our bartender was friendly and helpful.  I will definitely be back for some more of their garlic bread.  The do have the distillery attached to the restaurant but we did not investigate it on this particular visit.
