Staff were very kind and welcoming and helpful when we deactivated our cards haha, went for a wedding a few months ago and it made the experience so much nicer, definitely recommend for a nice weekend away! What a great find this was!||We were made to feel very welcome by Vee and the team at the hotel. She has a great sense of humour. ...||Pleasantly surprised with the good clean standard of the rooms with essentials supplied - iron/board, hairdryer, coffee and tea, heater, fan. The heating was on and the bed was comfy.||Good choice of food, with vegetarian options, offered on the menu at reasonable prices. Hello, i just wanted to drop you a line to let you know about some great service i have received today at The Bear in hungerford from Vee and her team . .||||I had originally booked into the pelican a few miles up the road but when u arrived this afternoon the customer service i received caused me to leave instantly. Their room was cold and damp with both the windows broken and unable to close when mentioned they could not have been less bothered and i was told “well no one else has mentioned the windows” i promptly left and booked myself into the bear.||||VEe was the first person i met and her warmth and vibrance made me feel like i was in her own home... ||My room is warm and cosy and i instantly felt at home..||||The halloween and xmas decorations also look great may i say!||L||My food was cooked perfectly and cutomer service fromthe whole team was second to none ..||||I am so glad the pelican was rubbish abd that i came here instead ..||||I look forward to coming again, its a real home from home.. thank you Vee xx||||Amanda siviter||||||||||Sent from my iPhone More...

Today I was served by matty. What a lovely young man! He let us try a few of the wines before we purchased and his recommendation was spot on! Lovely hotel, prime position, room immaculate very clean. Staff very helpful and cheerful. Had one evening meal, that was enough, chicken pie tasteless, told waitress gravy was like glue, difficult to pour she just ignored us, the last morning went to breakfast, no orange juice left at 8. 15 in the morning !. Was in disabled room no.35, lovely large room. Few issues, no plug in basin, not sure where you would put it in the basin if you had one anyway ! We first came here in 2016 and enjoyed the experience and have been back several times to come back again.||||It is a very old building (like a lot of Hungerford) and like all old buildings has it's eccentricities but that all adds to the character of the place. It is just like the leaflet says - an Old English inn||||Facilities are good, staff very helpful and friendly, lots of car parking with plenty outdoor space/garden are too. And it is adjacent to a fast flowing river - a real babbling brook!||||The bar is well-stocked - good beer & lager on tap, huge array of gin varieties and their red wines are superb. Went there to have a quick drink and a little snack, and the service I received was just perfect. Brad, a wonderful bartender, was very sweet and welcoming. Firstly I was greeted with a bubbly personality from the lady on the bar, Jasmin. she took a general interest in our stay, and made the whole stay very welcoming. We stayed last week and it’s our 3rd time coming. She made sure we were happy after the horrible times we’ve had at Greeneking inns. Stayed here as stop off during a further a field travel requirement. I was welcomed by a lovely friendly Receptionist named Caroline, She was very informative and made the start of my stay very relaxed. As I went to my room which was located in the , it was well decorated and presented, the cleanliness was top class. Spring cleaned to the highest quality by my allocated Housekeeper - Kara. I also took the opportunity to enjoy a meal in the bar, could not fault the quality of the food. Very well cooked and presented on the plate. Booked a 15 birthday meal for 18 people, for a young man who's lost both his parents in 8 months||he had been local to the bear and had eaten there with his parents so he chose this pub||they decorated the table, were super efficient and even all joined in to sing happy birthday. Slightly shabby reception bar and dining areas. Service incl. breakfast was excellent. Room (20) quiet, compact, but nice bed and shower, with a stream outside our window. The treatment that we had for my grown up daughter’s birthday dinner on Sunday was second to none. ||Table for 18 family members (adults & children) was no trouble at all. Decided to go to the Bear Hotel for a meal whilst on holiday from N Ireland. Stayed in the Bear for 1 night, way back in 1973,as part of our honeymoon. Was visiting family in Lambourn and decided to have a meal here, before moving on to our hotel. Long time since we were last here, but pleasantly surprised how nice, clean and warm the Bear felt. My wife and I, son and granddaughter all enjoyed our meals, which were served hot and by very friendly staff.
