I could bite myself for not doing this sooner, it's a new world here now, and it only took a 3hour appointment. Everything was explained so we'd understand and we both have learning difficulties, wasn't an issue, and the aftercare sounds amazing. I recently became the proud 'Parent' of a toy poodle puppy.
I named him Pippin, after one of the Hobbits featured in The Lord of the Rings.
I had visions of Pippin and myself becoming great friends, going for interesting walks, play fighting, hunting the treat.
Running in slow motion as they do in movies. In short, everything would be wonderful...............
'REALITY' arrived with a screech worthy of the sound of nails down a black board followed by an almighty crash/bang.
I naturally expected to see the other houses next to me squashed by the sheer force of this 'REALITY.'
Amazingly enough there were no squashed houses, not even a roof tile out of place. If you are or ever have been the proud parent etc, etc you have no doubt whatsoever the chaos, distructon and sheer amount of energy a small puppy can produce.
Enter The Balanced Dog Company Ltd. The trainer was amazing, very patient and explained each step, a true gentleman indeed.
Within the space of a couple of hours, Pippin was a different dog. Gone was the paper shredding, the chewing and the charging around the house. Everything went at a comfortable pace, nothing felt rushed.
The problem or difficulties were not completely solved by any means.
This is now the time for you, the proud 'Doggy Parent' to use the techniques you have learned in this session to help your puppy learn all the things he needs to know to become a calm, obedient member of the family. You will need to spend time and put in the effort to help your puppy learn.
He's really just like a toddler at the moment. Your dog will eventually become a true companiond and will be much happier once he accepts who's actually in charge.
Hint:- He's not in charge. You're the one in charge, top dog, leader of the pack.

We spent around 3 hours one to one with Kenny from the Balanced Dog Company to help deal with very specific anxiety issues with our new rescue puppy. All of the online information online we had previously looked at was conflicting, and confusing, Kenny was able to immediatley identify and explain where we were going wrong in simple terms, and his advice and practical demonstration saw immediate positive changes to little Ramseys behaviour in relation to us and his nervoussness in busy places. We were amazed at how instant the changes in Ramsey were when we altered our own behaviour to follow Kenny's teachings. Ramsey is a much happier, healthier little pup now and we would recommend Kenny and the Balanced Dog Company to anyone looking for a bit of problem solving, or just to improve their own dog handling skills. I had the best training session with Kenny from The Balanced Dog Company. Lola, my rescue dog, was very nervous, continuously barked at the door, pulled on the lead, couldn't approach other dogs.
In ONE SESSION, the changes are unbelievable. Couldn't recommend any higher. Kenny was so informative in explaining to us why she was like this, and taught us the best techniques to help her.

What do you love most about your job?
Mother Nature......... Dealing with animals is not really a 'job'. I get a lot of joy watching my customers re-connect with their dogs and how much they can actually do, when given the correct direction. The 'Light Bulb' moment when the customers gets their dogs to do what they wanted and get results easier and quicker than they thought.
Working outside, meeting people from all walks of life, giving back........
What inspired you to start your own business?
I decided to start The Balanced Dog Company with an ethos of what dogs need from us. I have been brought up with dogs all my life which gave me countless hours of watching and learning how they interacted with each other (with and without them knowing I was watching). I have a belief that every dog has the ability to help humans, from just being a companion, opening a door or giving protection.
I knew I could train any dog as I had growing up, from the basic commands to more advanced training techniques and the added knowledge of watching for all those years gave me an a good insight to body language, micro expressions and psychology of dog.

We are a company that listens to our customers, as all enquires are different. We tailor our services to suit your needs and try to go that extra mile (figuratively and literally) for you and your dog. We offer a one to one service for behaviour, training and more serious issues. We are fully insured for all our clients needs.
Exercise and Socialisation (Dog Walks)
(This is for Falkirk and Surrounding Areas Only)
Our Pack Members enjoy the choice in our walking service. We offer both on and off-leash walks to suit your dogs energy level. Whether its a trail walk or field play with balls and frisbees we have just the right adventure to keep any playful dog happy. Entire outings will typically 1-2 hours from pickup to drop-off.
The walks are led in a positive setting by an experienced and loving dog walker (Pack Leader). Pack Members enjoy a mixture of stimulating walks in some of the best parks and green spaces. Locations like Lionthorn Woods, Skinflats (by the shore line or woodland walk) and other secret locations.
When joining our pack, members are thoughtfully placed in groups with other like-minded dogs of similar ages, size and/or energy levels. We match up our groups to ensure that every dog is having fun, meaning no standing around, no bad behaviour etc.. We make this a super positive experience for our dogs. Additionally, we try to keep our packs consistent with the same dogs and walker.
Morning walks 07.30 hours - noon Afternoon Walks noon - 16.30

Next Class start date:- 20th March 2023 in Gilmerton Society Hall.
During the 5 weeks of classes, we will guide you on how to communicate with your puppy in their language and be able to understand what they need from you as their pack leader.
We will use our extensively researched guaranteed enrichment activities with reward based positive reinforcement to learn new skills each week with our for free training aids.
Our small sized group are designed to build you and your puppy’s confidence at a steady pace.
You will learn:-
How to engage with your puppy.
How to set Rules, Boundaries and Limitation at home and outside.
How to teach basic Commands
Socialisation skills.
Problem solving.
We welcome vaccinated puppies aged 12 weeks to 6 months old. All legal Breeds.
If the puppy belongs to a person under 16, then ‘junior pack leaders’ must be accompanied by an adult.

Behaviour Correction
At the BDC, we look at the full picture when dealing with unwanted behaviour in a dog and use natural dog laws to correct the problem(s).
'Bad Behaviour' usually happens when there is something missing from the dogs life to fulfil it. The psychology of dog is simple from them to follow as 'the natural dog laws' are set by 'Mother Nature'.
What defines 'Bad Behaviour'?
Well! Anything you don't want them to do!

We understand that group lesson aren’t for everyone for many reasons. Internal and external problems play a part, from not having the time in our schedule to feeling anxious in a new environment.
Our private one to one lessons can be adapted and adjusted, so the process and pace of the lesson, makes it easier to achieve your goals. This means the learning can be achieved easier.
We have the ability to schedule a lesson at a time that is convenient for you and we come you…Bonus!
