The Animal Behaviour Business provides behaviour modification and training for dogs, cats, horses and rabbits using reward-based positive reinforcement methods.
My name is Valerie Bennett and I founded the Animal Behaviour Business after completing an MSc in Clinical Animal Behaviour from the University of Lincoln. I work with animals that exhibit all problem behaviours. Through the use of positive reinforcement techniques that have been proven to work scientifically, I teach owners how they can change their pet's behaviour kindly and effectively. As a highly qualified and experienced animal behaviourist, I will ensure that you and your pet will always receive a professional and caring service.
I specialise in offering a tailored programme of home-based support to identify the causes of problem behaviours and build and maintain positive relationships between you and your pet. Behaviour modification plans and training strategies are tailored to your particular circumstances and I make sure you understand and are comfortable with carrying out the exercises you need to implement. You need never feel alone as email and telephone support are available for as long as you require.
The initial consultation is the most important first step to being able to help you and your pet as this enables me to make an assessment and diagnosis of why your pet is behaving as they are. From this I can put together the behaviour modification plan that will best suit your pet. The initial consultation costs £115 for dogs; and £150 for cats. Ongoing training costs £80/hour.
My behaviour modification plans really make a difference and are based on scientifically-proven techniques. I do not offer quick fixes that don’t work in the long term.
In addition to carrying out behaviour consultations, I also run training courses for dogs and their owners. These include classes for adult dogs; adolescent dogs; puppies and reactive dogs (dogs that react to other dogs and/or people by barking, growling, snapping and lunging).
As well as working with private clients I run a Behaviour Clinic at my local veterinary practice and work as a volunteer at my local dog rescue centre providing rehabilitation and behaviour modification to help the dogs find a permanent home.
