We had dinner on Sunday. The staff was fantastic. Husband and I both enjoyed our meals. Our 2 girls said they had the best grilled cheese EVER. We found this gem 2 years ago and we went last week for our 3rd annual adventure. We go for dinner and grab the $4 cruise. This place is amazing, the staff is phenomenal. Food portions could be a little larger (for the crab cake at $23 for one, at least), but it is very tasty. My step-daughter had an issue with her meal, but it was rectified immediately, and removed from the bill. The manager checked in frequently and the accommodations were great. And the cruise didn't disappoint. The waters were rough in the ocean, but the captain let us experience them for a few minutes, which was very memorable! We like to go here every year for the boat ride- dinner has never been great but it has not been good at all the past two years. This year 4 of the appetizer plates that came out were dirty; the appetizer (shrimp dip) was very bland and the things it came with for dipping were pathetic (a few boxed crackers, tomatoes and cucumbers); someone in my party ordered a burger that had bleu cheese but asked for it on the side but it was put on the burger; two people in my party ordered shrimp tacos and the shrimp was bad (it smelled and tasted awful). I did tell them about all of this and they gave us our boat ride for free. For an FYI- the happy hour items are only if you are at the bar. Our waitress was nice and the boat ride never disappoints! Food was pretty good, not a fan of seafood so ordered the chicken sandwhich but the view cannot be beat! And the boat trip after is initially why I decided on this restaurant- will NOT disappoint. My daughter and i went on the 10hr trip on the 16th. It was pretty rough seas most of the day.We only made 2 stops and filled the boat with good sized sea bass. Usually you have to make 4-6 stops on other boats.we had a good time,We will be fishing this boat again!the only thing i would like to see is the rail is shot.hoping that it will be replaced over the winter.ALSO the mates only charged me 15 bucks to clean 30 fish. Phenomenal trip with an amazing crew.
They are definitely there to make sure you had a good time and catch fish!
You cannot get a more comfortable and productive trip anywhere else, the Angler has it.

After fishing every headboat in Oc I've found this one to be the most enjoyable even when the fish don't bite the crew still work's hard so you have a great day I fish the Angler 6 to 8 times a year and don't even think about getting on another boat anymore Captain Chris and co captain/mate Dean and mate Rich make everyone feel like a friend can't wait to come back next month

We had a great time better then the competition down the road. The wind picked up and the Captain tried everything to get us sturdy and fish. The only negative thing was I felt bad because I took a group down by bus and ended up paying for the driver who did not fish, we weren't looking at that extra expense, but overall good time will be back More...

Had an enjoyable trip with my husband and mom. Daily rates are affordable. The ride in and out to sea was peaceful and the view was great. Everything you need for equipment is provided. They'll help you out if your line is tangled or if you're having difficulty reeling in a big catch. You can enter a fish pool for $5 and they'll even filet your fish for only $2. I've been on fishing trips before but this was by far the best. The care they showed towards not only me and my family but to everyone else on the boat was amazing. My 7 year old son Brian went out with myself and his Pap for his first time and they answered every question he had, the one mate Dean danced around with him and let him help on the boat with little things making my son feel like a million dollars. The captain let him look in the wheel house and see the fish radar... all in all it was an amazing experience and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a great fishing trip with some really great and knowledgeable crew. My family and I have eaten at the Angler for years. The boat ride is the big pull for us. Just like any resort town, the waitstaff and cookstaff have fluctuated, but in the 20+ years we've eaten here, the good outweighs the bad. After eating at the Angler this evening we were very full and satisfied. My uncle and I got the fried flounder sandwich, my aunt the soft crab tacos and my cousin got the steak and cheese. We were all happy with our meals and the price is very family friendly and i was glad to see many other families hopefully carrying on the same tradition as ours. Our server, Rico, was friendly and helpful with the menu. Our family has changed throughout the years but the Angler is steadfast with a good meal for a reasonable price and an enjoyable $4 cruise afterwards (the polish ice stand outside was the same price so you tell me which is the better deal).
