After teaching in schools as class teachers, we established Thameside Tutors in 1991. We have developed a reputation for delivering excellent one-to-one Maths and English tutoring in clients’ homes for students aged 7 to 16 years. We believe that ‘one-to-one’ tuition can be a perfect way of catering for children’s different individual learning needs as lessons can be truly tailored to meet student's requirements.

What do you love most about your job?
One to one tutoring is very different to classroom teaching and we passionately believe that we have developed very successful strategies with most children. We can often support students in a way that is slightly different to school. The relationship that develops with a tutor often allows them to ask us questions that they don't want to ask in class! However we value good working relationships with our students’ schools and are happy to liaise with heads, class teachers, special needs staff and other educational professionals. Most of our business comes through referrals from one client to another and we can provide testimonies if required. We often work with siblings, parents asking us to work with different children in the family as they approach significant points in their education.
What inspired you to start your own business?
We wanted to create the opportunity to be able to truly teach students in ways that are appropriate to their learning styles as individuals, free from the administration and constraints of the school system.

As our 27th year of business begins we are determined to continue to provide an honest, reliable and dedicated service to students and their parents.
