What makes a great website?
Design - Key for a visitors experience to ensure they find what they are looking for and enjoy they experience whilst navigating a site with ease.
Content - Quality of the content within the site ensure the visitor finds the visit informative and worthwhile whilst at the same time ensures the site retains a strong internet presence.
Up keep - Ensuring a site stays current with new information, images and feeds for example ensures a website appears well managed up to date and relative. Additional to this search engines favour sites that are seen to be being well maintained.
A website is like the shop from window, it needs to look good, contain quality contents and remain current to keep the shopper from getting bored and walking on past.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What is the key purpose of the site (selling items, strong internet presence, point of referral)?
What content do you already have or are able to provide such as images and text copy?
What is your target audience?
Is a website something you want to maintain for yourself going forward?
Describe your creative process.
We like to understand in detail what our clients requirements in detail as a 'Needs Analysis'.
We then like to prepare a development spec for sign off.
We then release a versions of the site for approval
Then we release a final version of the site for client sign off
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
We need to understand the website layout (Sitemap), what pages are required and what in summary is contained within them.
We then need to know if there is any branding / styling to consider?
After this we like to start design prototypes to get the ball rolling for our clients.
What do you love most about your job?
Designing - Providing something unique which will do justice and represent our client on the internet.
Success - Seeing a site climb up through search engines and provide our clients with a reliable internet presence.
