Absolutely awesome! I had the Smoked Tasso and Chickpea salad. I was in heaven after my first bite. Every component on the sandwich and in the salad was flavorful and complimented each other. If you're looking for "flavor town" (I hate myself for saying that) do not miss this place! More...

Tasso is my favorite restaurant in Boise! The food is always delicious. The vibe is indie and beautiful. The bread is perfectly complemented by the eclectic combinations. This will satisfy every type of diet - vegans included. I have taken friends, family and coworkers here and it never disappoints. Everyone that is there is so warm and inviting and helpful. It's the kind of meal where you smile with each bite because it's so good! More...

I walked into this place at random, and honestly, it's probably my favorite place to eat in Boise. They have excellent sandwiches, and big portions for the price you pay. Ingredients are high quality, and the bread is seriously in a category of its own.I tried a few sandwiches, and all were good, but Country Devil is my favorite thing here. More...

Recently stopped by Tasso for lunch, and I've been back twice in one week! I normally pack my own lunch during the work week but I think I'm going to have to make it a habit to treat myself to some Tasso once a week from here on out. It's quickly become my new favorite sandwich shop in the Northwest. The food, atmosphere and service are beyond five stars. All of their sandwiches include a fresh & delicious side salad, complimentary lemonade, and seasoned popcorn (so yum!!) My favorite sandwich is the chickpea. They have options for vegans and omnivores. A few different soups (I haven't tried those yet but look & smell so good) and daily lunch specials. The full portions are BIG and super filling, but you have the option of a half sandwich/half soup or salad lunch meal too. I can't say enough great things about Tasso. They are one of a kind! Boise has a lot of great spots these days, but Tasso is at the top of the list. The bread is always perfectly baked, the toppings are just right (all options are good but I'm partial to the Duck dip), and the greens are crisp, never over-dressed. The bonus popcorn is always a delight. Can't wait to stop back on my next trip! More...

Wonderful lunch spot. My only problem is that I can't seem to stop ordering the Country Devil sandwich. The dressed salad that comes with the salad is fresh, and perfectly constructed. Clean, cutesy sandwich shop in downtown Boise. Every time I've gone in, I've been greeted right when I walk in and overall have been impressed with their hospitality. Have been wanting to try Tasso for a while now, and finally did . WOW !!! Soo good. I am a sandwich guy, and this place just took first place in my heart. It is located in the BoDo section of downtown Boise. The inside is sparse, kinda 70's dinner feel. We were greeted by a very friendly woman who described the process, and shared some of her favorites. You basically get to choose from a dozen or so sandwich combinations. There were many that looked fantastic, but we both decided on the Country Devil. A mixture of ham, roasted pork, and gruyere cheese. Fantastic !! It comes on artisan, crunchy french bread softened by the pork juices..... A side salad also came with the sandwich. I will be back soon to try a few other sandwiches. The Kimchi Club is next on my list !! More...

Three of us had lunch at Tasso on a Friday just after noon. We had never been before and did not know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. Though I would describe it as "fast food casual", it had adequate seating if you don't mind sharing a table or sitting at the "bar". The menu is written on a white board above the hostess/cashier/order desk and is quite extensive. There is an open window to the kitchen allowing for conversation with the staff (nice friendly folk back there!!!). Serve yourself popcorn (it was fennel flavored Friday) and lemonade accompany all orders. Draft beer selection is good, though not extensive. We each had different sandwiches: the Country Devil, Tasso Sandwich and the Duck Dip. All three were excellent! So, good food, good service, friendly and comfortable atmosphere, plus killer popcorn!!!! More...

Service at the counter was phenomenal today! The staffer was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. My wife had the Pink Lady, which is a vegan option that I had a bite of and it was really good. I had the Kimchi Club and Tomatillo Stew. Both were really really good and you can tell that they put a lot of thought and effort behind their food. We were pleased all the way around with service, food, atmosphere, and beer selection on draft. Some reviews here have commented that this place doesn't live up to a Bluebird replacement, but I completely disagree. The ingredients, creativity, and flavor are all easily on that level! More...

Okay, bold statement coming up. Ready? Best sandwiches in America, probably the world. (if Elon Musk gets his rocket in gear, these could be the best sandwiches in the known galaxy). I know that you think that can't be true, but it is. AND, if we were in NY, London, Paris, Munich ..oh wait that's a song....well if we were in any of those places even Austin or Chicago, there would be a line out of the door and Seinfeld would make an episode on how good these sandwiches are. The good thing is that we aren't in those places, so we don't have to wait in that annoying line, instead we  get the greatest sandwiches ever put in your mouth without a long line and the perils of an overpopulated urban metropolis. Yes these sandwiches cost more than a Subway sandwich but if you want that, go eat there, but this is a great sandwich and good food costs a little more. The owner has whipped up the most tasty selection of things we all love.... slow roasted pork, spicy meats, honey ham combined with tasty cheeses and spreads that are better than any Tinder match you will ever get. The veggie sandwiches are also off the chart good, you won't even know the meat is missing. The French know food and they do a darn good sandwich, but Tasso's sandwiches are how sandwiches should be, how you need them to be. So be happy you live in Boise and go get a sandwich that will make your eyes roll back in your head. They also have a cool selection of beverages including beer, wine and authentic cider from Normandy, the land of cider. More...

The Kimchi Club? Brilliant. Popcorn instead of potato chips as a side dish? Brilliant. Pork rinds on a sandwich? I can't believe I'm saying this, brilliant.I called Tasso twenty five minutes before they closed tonight to place a take-out order. I asked the girl who helped me on the phone what she suggested trying and she said the Kimchi Club. Perhaps I'm too trusting, but without hesitation I went with her recommendation. It was incredible! Bread that has a slight crunch on the outside yet is soft and chewy on the inside, tangy kimchi, Tasso's fancy rendition on coleslaw, house-cured ham and turkey and...pork rinds! Part of me thought about pulling the pork rinds off, but I decided I should give them a shot first. Oh. My. Word. They pulled all of the other flavors in this sandwich together. It is the strangest combination of ingredients, but it works. The sandwich is so delicious it can stand alone, but to take it to the next level, Tasso serves popcorn along with every order. This is no regular salted butter popcorn, this stuff is thoughtfully seasoned. It has a sweet, smokey and savory taste to it. In addition to the popcorn, they also give you a pickle that is cured in house - this was also fantastic. Each of the items were tasty on their own, but altogether they made for a meal where each dish complimented the other! The total with tax came out to $10.60 - I'd say this is fair considering how huge their sandwiches are and the generous portion sizes of their side dishes. This is a below-the-radar lunch and happy hour sandwich spot that has quickly become one of our favorites. They get all the important things right: really kind staff, delicious artisan sandwiches (even their turkey sandwich is distinctive and quite good), and reasonable prices. They recently started including both salads and popcorn with all sandwiches, so now you're getting a full meal. Also, they have a small but distinct collection of beer and cider with solid happy hour deals on drinks.Despite the name, this business also has good vegan and vegetarian options.  GIve this place a shot. Tasso is a great place for lunch. The pork is done perfectly and the sandwiches are a delicious mix of flavors and textures. All ordering is done at the counter and the menu is small, which isn't a bad thing because each thing is done so well. I love that they have free popcorn and lemonade. The last time I visited it was curry popcorn and that in itself was almost my meal! The lemonade is very good but a bit sweet for my taste.I'm not crazy about the layout having separated dining areas because it feels like once you have your food they forget about you. I get that it is a deli style experience but everything else they do is so good, I'd like someone to walk by and see how things are going or if I need anything else.Ask them how the place came to be, it's a cool story. This is a place I'll eat often when I'm downtown, I hope soon they'll open a West Boise location. I am not a sandwich fan, because typically the bread overpowers the other sandwich components. This place has it optimized. Even though the bread is crusty like a baguette, it's not hard or bitter. We'd been hearing about how great this place is, and Tasso definitely lived up to the hype. We stopped by on a Sunday and were pleasantly surprised. They turned a formerly dull space into a light, airy dining room with quirky artwork, plants, and beautiful modern décor. The people behind the counter are super friendly. Just from reading the ingredients on the menu, you know you're in for an elevated sandwich experience. It's hard to decide where to start, but we shared the Curry-buta and the Honey'd ham sandwiches and also a Moroccan Chicken salad. The Curry Buta was amazing. Just thinking about the Cuban mojo slaw is making me salivate. Combined with the ginger and and lemongrass aioli, it's just perfection. The Honey'd ham melts in your mouth. All  the meats are cured and seasoned in house, and the bread is just the right amount of chewy on the inside and crisp on the outside. The Moroccan Chicken salad was also tasty. You can tell that the team at Tasso really care about the flavors and quality of their food. Last, the free popcorn is no afterthought. I tried the curry flavor and it was excellent. It's just another example of what Tasso does best: take a food you think you know and elevate it to a brand new experience. Bravo! Can't wait for my next visit! More...

This restaurant is a gem. They are punching way above their weight-class, offering up a truly unique experience of flavors and techniques. To start, you should know the bread they use is truly world-class; something you will not be able to fully appreciate until you sink your teeth into one of their many amazing sandwiches.Everything is homemade. The attention to detail belies the seemingly "simple" menu they have, with each item offering complex layers of acid, crunch, herbaceousness, seasonal veggies, meats, etc. This place is a one of a kind establishment in Boise, and arguably in the US.Yes. These guys are truly sandwich connoisseurs. Pure magic of uniquely delicious ingredients sandwiched between two perfect halves of a crusty roll of bread. Where have you been all my life Tasso? I appreciate their simple menu comprised of 8 sandwich options. Trust me, any more options would make it nearly impossible to decide what delicious concoction you want to order. After going back and forth between the Curry-buta and the Turkey, I finally made a full fledged commitment to the Turkey. Not just any turkey- sous vide turkey. Yes that's right folks- this isn't your usual deli slice of ham or turkey kinda joint. Every little detail and ingredient is well thought out and nurtured to bring out the best flavor. I was surprised by how much I liked the pickled fennel and carrots, but with the cilantro it made it incredibly flavorful and refreshing. I also really loved how easy the bread was to bite through- there's nothing I hate more than when you have to tug and pull at chewy bread just to get a bite and in the process destroy your sandwich and mess up your pretty little face. Well done Tasso. At first bite, I had hit sandwich euphoria. I don't even think I'm capable of going back to work. The sandwiches are super hearty and large enough to split if you wanted to give up half of your heavenly sandwich which would be painstakingly painful to part ways with. I should also give credit to the potato salad. They did Idaho justice, and the portion was very generous for $4. Very creamy and loved the subtle bite from the mustard and horseradish. Too bad I only had room left for a nibble. Bottom line. This was the best sandwich I've ever had. The sandwich game has officially been up'd. I will be back, again and again and again. More...

I had read a lot about Tasos in a couple reviews; so I really wanted to try out the hot new sandwich eatery in the Bodo district. I was little surprised walked in at 1:15 the place was deserted. I loved the eclectic artwork that adorns the walls. The menu itself small which helps if you are new (all their sandwiches are $11). I went with the beef dip; your sandwich included popcorn with their unique salt and your choice of lemonade or water. The sandwich was served on a French baguette (perfect bread for the sandwich held up well with the aujus) thinly juicy sliced beef with a side of a delicious aujus that perfectly complemented the sandwich. The sandwich was very delicious!! Outside of bluebird best sandwich I've had in downtown. My grip is this; I know it's the trend in boise upscale casual dining destinations. $10 for two tacos etc..I don't know how sustainable that is quite honestly I guess call me cheap lol it just seems a little pricey to me to have a sandwich for $11 I'd much prefer a sandwich in the $8 price point I'd be more likely to frequent not saying I won't be back just at $11 a sandwich may prevent more frequent visits. Oh the popcorn as a side I have to admit is a little odd; a a fresh made potato salad, side salad, or chips would be a better option I think. Anyways those were the only two things that I didn't like.Overall they have a great sandwich not the usual sandwich flare a welcome addition to the post bluebird downtown sandwich scene!! More...

Remember a first date ending with a kiss so delicious you were still thinking about it the next day?  First lunch at Tasso was like that date and the sandwich was like that kiss.  So delicious that my husband and I were still talking about it the day after.  We returned for another delicious meal and concluded we may have had sandwiches as good as Tasso's but we can't remember having any better  - anywhere or ever.  If you think sandwich is art form, try Tasso.  Were I The Queen, I'd wave my scepter and bid them change a couple of space planning things.  So 4 stars not 5.  But all in all, so well done!THE DRILL:  Order at the counter from poster sized menu on the wall.  Divided into "Sandwiches" and "Deli" (sides) with 6-ish choices each, the menu is easy to read and helps move ordering along quickly.A very friendly person will take your order and deliver it to you at a table seat in the side dining room or counter stool at the front and on a generously sized metal tray lined with kitchen parchment - attractive and functional.Help yourself to seasoned, warm popcorn from the machine and barely cool lemonade from an urn with spigot.  Pick up plasticware and napkins on your way to your seat.  Bus your own when you are done at two open garbage cans at the dining room entry. VIBE: On "1/2 floor up" level in the Bodo located old Northrup building, Tasso's space is casually hip meets light and bright.  White walls with assortment of interesting art.  High ceilings.  Big windows look onto streets at front and side dining spaces.  Narrow counters on two walls in front space with backless, high perch stools.  Dining area has white standard height tables, some communal for about six and some two tops, spaced so tightly as to be a bit school-cafeteria awkward.SPACE PLANNING: Were I The Queen, I'd bid them...relocate trash cans so diners didn't gaze into the detritus when entering the dining space or waiting on takeout and...remove the long table pushed up against the dining room window. Only 4 seats lost and it would provide more interest for passers-by being able to see into the room to want to in come in to eat.  That also would create better flow into and out of the room for  more welcoming sense and elbow-room space for diners to want to come back more often.  In the end this would both generate more revenue for the owner and eliminate sardine tight seating.  EATS:  Everything is scratch made in this chef-owner kitchen with something to delight everyone's taste buds.  Owners' strategy to do a few items and do them perfectly with highest quality ingredients pays off for diners in deliciousness.  Acme breads and clever combinations of just enough but not too much filling so each flavor plays perfectly with the others. The so-memorable sandwich from our first visit was Country Devil on ciabatta with Tasso ham, "pork roasted with succulence", melted gruyere, pickled onion, whole grain mustard and "savory gravy" which was like a tart-delicious jus.  (So good that I asked what was in it, but ingredients are a secret not shared.)  A tip if you're planning takeout, there was enough 'gravy' on the Devil that it would have been soggy had we needed to transport it rather than eat it there where the "gravy" soaking into the great Acme bread was just right. The sandwich we chose next day was equally splendid.  Turkey cooked sous vide style with citrus and herbs served in generous slices on baguette with pickled fennel, carrots, cilantro, gochu cabbage, and shrub sauce.  Current sandwich menu also has four other options, including one vegan.  You'll find the menu at Tasso's website.Deli items are served in pint-sized Chinese take out cartons, except for the soup/stew served in a round.  The dee-luscious Tomatillo / Pork stew has to be among the best food values in the city.  We also enjoyed the Persian tomato - tomatillo-cucumber salad with orange vinaigrette.I would ask them to hold the pickle which was too briny for my palate. VALUE: Each sandwich is $11.  Worth every penny and so ample in size that it can easily be shared by two.  In particular if paired with one of the 6-ish options from the "Deli" (sides) that are only $4 each and large enough to be a meal on their own.  HAPPY HOUR:  4p - p - draft beer $4 and wine by bottle (choose from assortment on barrel top) only $13, snacks at $5 'minus' and daily sandwich $8.ACCESSIBILITY:  Accessible parking on Broad across from Tasso but main entry is up several stairs.  Level in door to building around corner on 8th street side.  Stairs inside but alongside a platform lift that goes to the "1/2 floor" level.  Turn right to double back to Tasso at end of hall.  Loo in hall is accessible.PARKING:  On street or garage 2 blocks down Broad.NEIGHBORS:  STIL ice cream is kitty corner on Broad.  Slow by Slow coffee next door on 8th. I was out in Boise to visit family and tried Tasso. I get out from MA 3 or 4 times a year  so I am well acquainted with the food scene there. We are always looking for something fast and delicious for lunch and boy did this spot deliver!   First of all, the vibe is friendly and laid back. The space is open and light and the staff was really friendly. In our week long visit we ended up eating there 3 times!  My first sandwich was the chickpea which I expected to be just your average hummus dip spread but it was far and away the best chickpea concoction I have ever run across. It had great texture and seasoning and the bread was yummy (I think it was naan) next two were the pastrami dip, (delicious) but my favorite was the turkey sandwich. So far from plain boring turkey with pickled slaw of some kind and again, bread was perfect . We ate in once and took away 2 times. I recommend staying and sitting near a window. Good people watching! We will definitely be back on our next trip out. Great find! More...

I came in here for lunch today, and was not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did.  From the outside, it looks like just another eye-roll worthy ~hipster~ joint, but the food really delivers!  This may be my new favorite lunch spot in Boise.  As far as sandwiches go, the menu is pretty limited with only maybe 4 or 5 sandwiches to choose from.  I ordered the turkey sandwich-- it was served on a wonderfully fresh and crusty baguette, and tasted similar to a Banh Mi sandwich.  They didn't skimp on any fillings, they didn't overdo it on the sauce-usage, and I was overall very satisfied with the size of the sandwich for the price I paid ($11, includes popcorn & a pickle).  There is self-serve lemonade and water, and unlimited popcorn!  The popcorn had a delicious seasoning that tasted like a sweet curry powder.  The service was fast & the employees at the counter were laid back, friendly, and informative without being pushy.I'm so glad a new lunch spot is in BoDo and I hope they expand their menu as they get more popular.  I can't wait to go back! I've had two sandwiches now, the chickpea and the Country Devil. Both were awesome and I plan to return again and again for a fast, simple but delicious lunch. Their complimentary seasoned popcorn and lemonade is a fun perk. The sandwich menu is simple but you won't go wrong with any choice. Such a great neighborhood addition for a work day lunch. More...

The three of us had the devil, turkey and pastrami sandwiches. All were excellent and really enjoyed the house cured meats. The meal came with excellent spiced popcorn, complimentary lemonade and house made pickle. The happy hour apps weren't available yet but look forward to given them a try as they seem very creative. Will be back for sure! More...

Stopped by today while I was working in the area.. I have to say, this place definitely lived up to the hype.... I had the hot Pastrami with the "Bone Dip" (au jus) it was fantastic. It was super tender, absolutely no fatty chewy pieces, the gruyere complimented the meat well,  then you have the dip which was icing on the cake!! Best pastrami in Boise so far, definitely will be back!! More...
