I honestly didn't know that this was a guest ranch when I made reservations on the way to Tucson. I was just utterly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the horse rides, outdoor steak supper and breakfast ride. I will return.

Amazing people on an amazing property. Beyond exceeded our expectations.
Awesome grounds, peaceful, great staff. Really enjoyed our visit. Previously enjoyed a Family Christmas party
Such a beautiful ranch!
This place was amazing! I went for a conference and had an amazing time. The view from every bit of the ranch is amazing. The food was delicious, the bar was nice, and the buildings were gorgeous!
It's so beautiful .
We tried the Under Canvas Glamping. Awesome experience Staff was exceptional and the accomadations were extremely comfortable I highly recommend the experience.
Wonderful inauguration of The New Barn !
Grand opening. Beautiful place to have a special event.
Beautiful. A dream.
What a magical place. One of my very favorite getaways!
First let me say that Angela, Emma, Tara, Sidney and Bill were fabulous wranglers. They tolerated our group of 60 female physicians well. .. it’s obvious they are great at managing things since they manage a huge herd of geldings. Anyway, fabulous location, great food, fun rides.. and wonderful staff. Love this place! Here is me on Dude the day he learned how to do barrels! More...
Work party, was outdoors, but had heaters and big fire pits with awesome fires in each one. We roped fake bulls. The food was great. Great place to hold any gathering. They even had carts to transport us to the secluded area the party was held in. Everyone had a great time. More...
I basically only slept one night so did not experience much other than the breakfast which was included and was really good. I missed not having a TV in the room. The ranch offers a lot of activities for cost, but I did not do any activities at the ranch, but went to nearby parks. More...
Stayed at the ranch for 2 nights. The wedding was a beautiful event with 100 or so guests. From arrival to departure the hospitality was great. I spent my extra time riding the trails with the wonderful stable hands. Can't wait to go back and spend more time taking in everything else the ranch has to offer. More...
I didn't stay overnight but had a great time singing at the Doghouse bar. The twin brothers Theo and Hugh are awesome bartenders and very friendly.
Beautiful place and wonderful hiking on Douglas Trail. No dogs allowed though.

Guest ranch is right next to Saguaro National Park (east). There is a hiking/horse trail head into the park at the front gate to the ranch.

Peaceful and beautiful place to relax . Friendly staff makes you feel comfortable and at your service 24/7 if you need anything . Great Staff!
Wonderful venue- excellent Friendly service, very nice rooms, excellent dining, Fun for Family and groups, lots to do and beautiful trail riding!
5-night Girls' Trip to celebrate our birthdays. Expected basic comfort food and rustic accommodations. Blown away by the beautiful room and view and the fantastic food, everything from blueberry pancakes on a wood-fired grill and pulled pork, to seared scallops and crème brûlée . Staff warm and approachable and eager to please. The manager even drove to town to get a memory card for one of us. Borders the Saguaro National Park, so hikes and mountain biking are amazing. Loved the horseback rides and instruction, especially the breakfast ride and the sunset ride. Cowboy Cookouts offered great food and live entertainment in an intimate outdoor grove setting. Also enjoyed the spa on site. Can do as much as you want or just relax by the pool. We were very sad to leave! More...

Under Canvas at Tanque Verde Ranch. Coolest new staycation place...
Excellent all around. The room had a terrific viewing window, was very clean, offered plenty of bottled water, and had an updated bathroom. The beds were comfortable as were the pillows. The kid program is done very well and a special thank you to Valerie Friend (occupanamous) for her courteous attitude. ||||The dude ranch has a kids program, horseback riding, tennis, nature hikes and other activities. ||||We stayed with the rise and dine package. Breakfast was amazing - our elementary aged child has never ate so much. ||||We ate dinner at the restaurant and everything was also very good. And they offer the prickly pear margarita (as did the on-site saloon, opened daily starting at 4pm).||||The highlight of the stay was the cowboy cookout dinner. Offering up ribs, salmon and brisket as well as hamburgers and hot dogs (mainly for kids), the food was terrific. But nothing beat the outside oven cooked peach cobbler.||||The cowboy cookout area had horseshoes and an area for kids to practice their lasso abilities. A musician taking western requests did an outstanding job.||||A great thing to see was the javelinas (that routinely stop by hoping for scraps of food). More...
We recently celebrated our 49th West Point Reunion, thus a herd of Seniors. My wife and I were this year’s hosts. Being Arizona residents, we selected Tanque Verde Ranch (TVR) in Tucson as the Destination Resort for our get together. Alumni with spouses traveled from as far as Maine and as near as Scottsdale to attend. ||The planning process began a year ago. We traveled and tested numerous Arizona locations and venues before reaching our final decision. Living in the Old West, we opted ultimately for a true Western Venue, complete with horses, wholesome activities and the natural beauty of the Sonoran desert to woo our friends…The Tanque Verde “DUDE” Ranch won the honors. It provided a great theme …completely authentic and unique, and it turned out to be a GREAT SUCCESS!!! Much to our satisfaction, everyone loved it!!||This 150+ year Ranch is authentic, well preserved and its location remote… perfect for relaxation and enjoying the solitude and beauty of the Sonoran Desert. Our friends, particularly from the East, marveled at the unobstructed Panoramic Vistas of mountains, cacti and vegetation…not to mention the Sunsets! Tranquility yet only a short walk from action.||The Resort speaks old west and graciousness from the get-go. Leaving Tucson, driving up to the base of the Rincon Mountains and entrance to the Saguaro National Forest, the road finally dead ends. Veering to the left one enters the Ranch. Passing corrals and horses while driving in, the attitude immediately signals “Rawhide”…put on those hats and boots, you’re in Cowboy land. The Ranch grounds are beautiful, immaculate, well maintained and many of the original buildings are still intact. The staff reflects management and is pleasant and friendly throughout…down to earth, but always professional and happy to help. ||The clientele is an extremely interesting mix… ranging from wedding parties, to large families and children, to International Equestrians from all over the world, to business groups, couples… and of course reunions. ||Available activities cater to a wide array of interests. While Horses are Prime Time, they are by no means the only source of entertainment. Members from our group also participated in silversmithing, water-coloring, yoga, meditation, mountain biking, hiking, nature presentations, the pool, the spa and others. The feedback was tremendous. Being competitive still, we participated in Team Penning and also the Salsa Margarita Challenge…A real blast! ||All of this was planned and coordinated through the TVR Event and Catering Department. Most especially, our gratitude and praise goes to Sarah Lee who guided us every step of the way and was with us until the end! Loving her work, always pleasant and happy, she knows her stuff and wastes no time getting the job done…what a gem! We were super impressed by the entire operation. The folks at TVR certainly know their business. They are specialists in catering to groups of any size. No detail is too small. ||Our Thanks also to Terry…the hardest working GM I have ever seen and Valerie, his Assistant. A special thanks also to Rick at the Nature Center and Bill the Wrangler! We stayed at the Tanque Verde ranch during parents weekend for the U of A. ||We had an excellent stay except for dinner at their restaurant. Unfortunately the wait staff seemed completely overwhelmed even tho the dining room was barely half full. ||It took ten minutes before a waiter came over with water no bread. We were ready to find somewhere else to eat but finally he took our order. ||When the door came it was the wrong order. ||We ate anyway because we were starving. ||The next day we mentioned the issue and they knocked off twenty five dollars. ||Aside the food the horse ride was fun. ||We will go back. Although I go to Tucson at least once a year, I had never visited the Tanque Verde Ranch. It was easy to find. We had a great time, lots to do and loved the horseback riding. The cowboy cookout which brought back lots of memories, lots of food, great music and a dance floor. Just good fun and a great place just to get up in the morning and take a walk, a bike ride or a horseback ride. It is close to the Saguaro National Park and the scenery is fantastic. The grounds to the resort are kept up and are beautiful. The staff is wonderful. If you get a chance do not pass this up, it is a great experience. More...

Fantastic food!Beautiful scenery! Great adventure horseback riding. Educational horseback riding lessons. Wonderful staff.
We dropped daughter off at University of Tucson and wanted to stay somewhere different. Thats what we got. We had the most relaxing time here. We went to the Dog house Saloon and had some good drinks and food. The pool and hot tub was nice and refreshing. The views of the storms over the mountain range was beautiful. The property landscaping was perfect and very natural. We went for strolls throughout paths and ran into a dingo dog, colorado toad, 5 javelinas, and a turkey. They have many events to choose from throughout the day. They do have WIFi but we couldn’t get cell service but that was ok. We had a nice breakfast and the room was cozy and comfortable. The room we stayed in was like a 4plex building so you feel like you have your own house. Had a wood burning fireplace for winter months. Well worth it but i would stay next time more than one night to enjoy the amenities. More...

We love the Southwest United States and Tanque Verde Ranch has been our favorite western experience for the last 13 years. Almost 200 riding horses live here most of the year, with names like Derringer, Rawhide, and Tophat. The horses take us on trails in and near the Saguaro National Park and sometimes up into the mountains to the east. The horse wranglers guide us on the trails, teach us how to ride better in organized lessons, and even show us how to drive cattle in penning competitions.||We've stayed in many of the unique and varied rooms over our years at the ranch. The rooms are single-story generous spaces with varying numbers of beds, and newly remodeled modern bathrooms and western decor. The dining room allows for ordering from a menu and choosing buffet offerings for all three daily meals, We also enjoy the large pools, hot pool, and occasionally the spa services.||The grounds are fantastic, with many varieties of cactus and flowering plants everywhere. Probably our favorite thing about TVR is the staff in every area, who are consistently helpful and friendly. We always have a good time visiting with them and meeting guests from all over the world. We're are mid in our 50's with a tween son from the east coast and we're novice horse riders. We showed up at this ranch during low season. The staff was amazing! They really wanted to help us understand horses and become better riders. After any session with the horse, I felt that I accomplished something. Was there any discomfort? Never during the ride, and nothing that a prickly pear margarita or smoothie couldn't soothe.||||We also hiked and biked at the ranch. Our hiking guide was an expert at the desert flora and fauna and Colleen was the best mountain bike guide - again, we were novice here as well.||||The food was phenomenal. There short list of selections every night included vegetarian, beef, chicken and seafood (even during low season), but further - the menu included 'foodie type' selections as well as comfort food for the less adventurous.||||I'm not a spa person, so I can't talk about their ample spa selections.||||While I was here I saw Mule Deer, hummingbirds, bats, road runners, turkeys, spinky lizards, and horses. Nostalgic, enjoyable family ranch experience. The Tanque Verde is what it is -- and has been for so many years: good family fun, without fuss. Yes, it sometimes wobbles with the complicated weight of multiple guest ranch elements, but overall, you can't really go wrong if your expectations are not overly high for fancy pampering. The food, most years, is subpar but plentiful and the service is typically worse (there are exceptions!), but the experience is still iconic, special, and always fun. More...

I came to the ranch as part of a retreat and had a wonderful time. The staff at Tanque Verde Ranch is awesome. They remembered my children's name in the few short days we were there. There is so much good to say about these place. When driving in ignore the Dead End signs the dead end is the ranch itself so keep going because once there you will find nothing dead about this place. The area itself is beautiful and so tranquil. The rooms don't have televisions so if you plan to hang in your room or need the sound to sleep be aware of this. We were fine after the first night. Food: delicious I am a very picky eater, actually more like a food snob and the food served was delicious. Pancake breakfast awesome if I wasn't watching my calories I would of ate a ton more. The brunch again delicious, lunches good and dinner was amazing. I did not take pictures of my food but would go there again if in the area for meals alone. Activities for youth: my 17 y/o had no plans to horse back ride but I made her go "to watch" in jeans. Someway somehow they cajoled her onto the horse and she had a great time! My 8 year old who had never rode a horse before was on the trail riding. While I'd like to think he is a natural I attribute it more to the great staff. I missed fishing while there but saw they had an intro to fishing which is something my son had asked to do so I signed him up and we returned the day after the retreat. Steve was so patient and took his time showing us how to cast, etc. We got there a few minutes late and he was already going through fishing knots but he gave a great overview for us. My son caught 3 fish and I even caught 1! He showed us not only how to bait but how to remove the fish as well. I won't say they should charge more but Steve is worth his weight in gold Pool: the outdoor pool was beautiful and clean. The indoor hot tub and pool was nice as well. There were only two things we left disappointed about 1. having to leave and 2. my son never got to see a tarantula while out and about. More...

The Tanque Verde Ranch exceeded all our expectations and made for a memorable vacation for our kiddos. The ranch offers a chill relaxed vibe with plenty of fun activities for the entire family (fishing with Steve is a must). Our children raved about the kids program and were able to trail ride with no experience thanks to the wonderful care of Tracy, Katelynn and Alyssa. The Doghouse Saloon offered unique local brews and was a perfect place to chill out after a long day. Finally, make sure you take advantage of the Cowboy Cookout and Sunrise Breakfast if you're visiting the ranch. Overall fantastic experience with amazing staff! We will be back. More...

Very peaceful place to have a staycation at.

Really nice place go to. Enjoy the outdoors
The oldest "dude ranch" in the US. Expected a Disney-esque experience but totally the opposite. Stayed 4 days and could have stayed longer. Everything done 1st class no matter what level of room or package you choose. Best: Guided Nature Walk in Saguaro Park and horseback ride in desert area along arroyos and dry washes. Peaceful and quiet. Do stay in mid May before summer rush begins. Good restaurant but limited selections. Cowboy Cookout was great fun with guitarist/singer under the stars and giant cottonwoods. We have stayed the night and had their "Fantastic" Breakfast the next morning. We love being there. We love the "Old Tucson" Romance of the real West. It is well kept in it's original beauty and simple Adobe style architecture. We appreciate it more every time we visit. As this world grows more and more hectic and busy it is such a refreshing Blessing for us to relax and feel part of the "Old Tucson" we love so much. More...
Cowboy cookout was great. Beauti out there in the cottonwoods
Beautiful place , loved my engagement pictures.......
Excellent place! The atmosphere is very relaxing giving you a full Southwestern feel. I often felt like I was stepping back in time. There is plenty of things to do, like touring the beautiful grounds, you can have a delicious meal in the dining room, take a cool dip in the refreshing pool, or have a drink at the bar. There is also horses and a beautiful sunset with mountain views. The staff, are amazing and very personable making you feel welcomed and at home. WOW what a GREAT stay! My last visit to Tanque Verde Ranch was over 45 years ago and my best vacation ever as a teenager. My husband and I decided to visit again after a trip to the Grand Canyon . I had told him about it for years and he too loved it….we will definitely be coming back soon! ||||From check in to check out our stay was flawless! John at the Front Desk was a wealth of information and made us feel so welcome. Our Chef prepared meals that were always terrific and the Dining Staff could not have been more fabulous! As far as Housekeeping, how nice to get back from an early morning ride and your room is already serviced! The Groundskeepers worked so endlessly to keep everything in such beautiful condition. All just as I had remembered it! Immaculate!||||As for riding…..thank you so much Angela, Felecia and Emma!!! Hope (Head Wrangler), you have a great group of Wranglers working with you!! As well, Joshua, the farrier, was so fun and informative to speak to. The girls were all experienced, knowledgeable, friendly, pleasant and made our trip so worth-while. Felecia….thank you for our 1pm hot/hot one-on-one rides….I really enjoyed them. ||||If you are looking for a “resort”, this may not be the place for you, but if you are looking for a Resort Dude Ranch….this is definitely it!! We travelled to Tanque Verde Ranch for a retreat with 80 or so others. All of us were treated like royalty. The ranch staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. From driving you to your gorgeously appointed guest room upon your arrival to assisting with your every need, to the service in the dining room, to breakfast at the Old Homestead, to the Cowboy Cookout, to the Dog House Saloon. The meals were FABULOUS!! I particularly enjoyed the Cookout with steak, tuna, hamburgers, hotdogs, and all the sides, including cobbler for dessert. The Sonoran desert is spectacular and the views of the landscape can be no better from Tanque Verde as the Saguaro National Park abuts the Ranch. There is so much to do there that I doubt you could get it all in even if you were there for a week. Maybe that’s why families have been making Tanque Verde Ranch an annual tradition for decades. I cannot wait to take my grandkids when they get a bit older. More...
This was our sixth trip to the ranch. We were a little uncertain as to how it would be as since we last visited it is now under new management, after the sad death of owner/manager Bob Cote. Fortunately we found little has changed. More activities have been added but as we mostly go for the riding, we didn't have much time to take advantage of them. Our daughter tried a massage in the spa for the first time and we both took a Yoga class, both to be highly recommended. They still have a wonderful stable of horses and the wranglers,(mostly female) are as good as ever, doing everything possible to make sure you have a great time. We have stayed in three different types of accommodation on our various trips and can't fault any of them. The food is of a high standard at all meals, although I did think there were fewer pastries on offer this year! Meeting Theo, the bartender in the Doghouse Saloon is an experience not to be missed. The ranch is an expensive holiday destination, but if you take full advantage of the all inclusive package, it's well worth it. Highly recommended. More...
We have lived in Arizona 50 years and never knew this place existed. We had an annual dinner meeting there and decided to stay overnight. More than we usually pay for a hotel but this is WAY more than a hotel. It is a beautiful ranch with the best views and topography ever! The staff was excellent and we enjoyed our stay very much. Company trip with agents from all across the country coming here. We arrived early in the afternoon after a brisk ride in the ranch’s van after being picked up at the Tucson airport. Caught a light lunch just before restaurant closed. The fish tacos were quite good. I had a huge room with a fireplace and sliding glass door @ back of room with a beautiful view. Date of stay 28 February 2019. Drinks for our group was out on a terrace just before sunset. Then we had a fabulous multi course meal with various wine parings. Had after dinner drink @ the Dog House Saloon, then back to a very comfortable bed. Next day I got an early morning start with a Jeep ride in the Sonoran desert with spectacular views. Then it was back to the ranch for a huge breakfast @ the Old Homestead. Steak cooked to perfection and eggs, juice, etc. Then too soon we were packing up in the van to go back to the airport. So many things to do here, but I was only here More...

The facility is fabulous and the staff was wonderful, (mostly all). We live locally and wanted to enjoy our first night at the TV ranch, over the Easter weekend. The grounds, the pool, the restaurant, are all fabulous. One reason I chose the ranch is because my 10-yr daughter is an avid horseback rider, and I was excited to have her ride at the ranch. She has been in lessons weekly for three years (TRAK). She gallops, does barrels, jumps, etc., all 70 pounds of her. My only complaint is that the wranglers were very dismissive of her, they took one look at her standing on the platform and suggested I put her in the “kid” beginning class - which would have been laughable. I told them she tested out of that right when we got there and they had told me they would not even allow her to join that group. It would be a total bore for her, as she could run that lesson. After passing her team penning test and corralling the cows with the adults yesterday, she ended up in the intermediate lesson with the adults today, and all of the guests were talking about what an amazing rider she was. I was very surprised anybody would “assume” she had to ride with the other children, just because she is small, young, and light. She is skilled, and has been on probably 200 rides and lessons - what she works on is confidence, and it certainly didn’t help to have her completely dismissed with a quick look. Once they saw her ride I think they gave me perhaps an apologetic look. I understand wanting to be safe, but let’s not discriminate against a kid, just because they are a kid. I am not one of those “mom’s “. When I tell you she is a rider, you should take me seriously, and not suggest she go on the pony walk with the seven-year-olds when you have not even seen her on a horse - I didn’t pay $700/night to get completely dismissed, certainly I could have gone anywhere for one night. She ended up having a great time and wants to go back, and I will think about it. Hopefully they took some notes and we don’t have to go through that again. Don’t make assumptions because of how somebody looks. Young, old, fat, skinny, short - I think she proved her ability. More...

We just returned from a fabulous week in Tucson for our early April spring break. We had a wonderful glamping experience for 2 night in the Under Canvas tents, that are partnered with the TV Ranch, then spent the rest of the week in a Roadrunner suite at TV Ranch. I was traveling as a solo adult with my kids, ages 7 and 10 from Seattle. I loved the Roadrunner suites as they were just far enough removed from the main facilities and yet a straight shot from the pool for my kids. The other 2 groups of ridge rooms would have had beautiful views, I'm sure, but the hill walks multiple times a day probably would have been too much for the kids. The RR rooms also follow one of 2 river beds that border the ranch - a fun little excursion mid-day to see the Green Tanks that the area is named after. As a little family of 3, it was our preference to stick together for our daily adventures. We enjoyed the guided fishing very much - the pond was super stocked! The cowboy cookouts were delicious and it was quite enjoyable to be outside. The Saloon was a daily afternoon treat for smoothies and popcorn/fries before/during/after pool time. My kids do well with the adult menus and we enjoyed eating most meals at the ranch. With my young kids, I did pay the extra fees to get us on a sunset horse ride and it was totally worth it - beautiful sights, and an engaging trail ride.||||Now that I have been there, I totally do not understand how/why anyone would be critical of the horses and their accommodations. It is a ranch in a hot desert, and there are lots of animals present. Otherwise, it's a beautiful place with lovely facilities, and I would totally go back again. ||||My only feedback would be around the kids' programs and wishing there were options for smaller groups for nature led activities. For the record, the Nature Center on the property does indeed offer a few nature walks - the timing didn't always work for us. ||||The TV Ranch was super close to the Saguaro National Park East entrance. The Cactus Forest Loop Drive was beautiful. With kids, do note the Desert Ecology Trail (paved & short), and the Javelina Rocks for some easy bouldering. The loop includes 2 picnic areas. ||||We also did the Collassal Cavern tour, which is just another 30 min from the park entrance. A great experience for my kid's first cave experience. A dry cave so it is not cold, stinky or popular with bats for the majority of the year. And a fun gift shop... lol. ||||And an hour drive across town, you absolutely must see the Desert Museum (zoo!). And there are options for eating there! It can be combined with the West National Park entrance, as well as Old Tucson if that is of interest. ||||We found that Street Tacos and Beer Co. to be the perfect in-town family-friendly spot to grab a tasty and quick bite to eat! More...
We were looking for a family vacation with our two young children that would also allow my husband and me some “alone time. ” This trip provided the best of both worlds and exceeded our expectations! We honestly can’t say enough good things about the ranch and the staff. The employees were so kind and accommodating, especially in the kids’ programs. You have the option to drop your kids off from 8-4, then again from 5-8. But, you also have the option of pulling them out whenever you’d like. So, we checked our kids in, did some early morning rides, pulled them out to swim as a family and let them nap, then brought them back. Our girls had no horseback riding experience prior to going, but absolutely loved it and are still talking about it now that we are back home! I was a little nervous about them riding, initially, but the staff quickly put me at ease. As for our rides, the horses are beautiful and very well-tempered. I was worried going in that the trail rides might get old if you’re unable to pass a lope check (something that is difficult to do,) but the scenery is so stunning and the trails are challenging enough that I didn’t mind repeating the walk rides one bit. The guides we had let us soak in the scenery, but if you have questions feel free to ask, they seemed happy to answer any questions we had and were very knowledgeable, especially Felicia. We also loved the lessons! My husband and I have always tried to ride horses on any vacation we’ve taken, so we have some experience, although no formal training. Still, we learned things we’d never heard from other guides before thanks to our instructor, Dylan. We also got to trot in the lesson, which was a ton of fun! As for the food, it was incredible. We probably gained 5 pounds, but it was worth it. We also did the nature hike one night that was really interesting, learning about the local animals and plants which was fascinating. Our only regret was that we didn’t stay longer, although we booked our trip for a shorter stay since we weren’t sure how our kids would like it. We definitely plan on going back, though!||||Tips: Book your activities early (at least a week out.) We made the mistake of waiting till the night before and a lot of activities were full. But, an employee named Bea is very helpful and comes around to dinner each night to help you get on a waiting list or squeeze in where you can. Also, take both the fundamental and intermediate lessons early in the trip! They’re so fun, and from what we gather that could help you pass the lope check, should you try. Definitely do the breakfast ride! The pancakes are amazing and the view is incredible! Finally, if you like to fish, be forewarned, the guided fishing is definitely for beginners. My husband loves fishing, so he was a little disappointed it was too easy, although he did catch a huge catfish that was pretty cool! But, if you have kids, this would be perfect for them. More...

Traveled with 10 year old sons and had a great time. Is a fantastic location to become acquainted with the southwest and horses. Our room was nice with amazing window view of the desert (no TV in room which I also liked for unplugging kids!). Staff were generally friendly and helpful. During our visit girls far outnumbered the boys in the kids program (mine were the only boys in their age group until the second day when another boy showed up). This isn't good or bad but just so parents are aware when planning most kids and the kids wranglers are all women (might have been a male wrangler part of one day). When not riding there were arts and crafts activities that my kids don't enjoy. The days they went to the pool were much better. The kids schedule seems pretty loose/flexible and low key. You can pull kids out of kids program any time to join you and return them when you are on to next activity. I am not a rider and there are several opportunities to learn about horses from different wranglers and using different horses--they all have a unique personality. Food was good and afternoons at the doghouse were relaxing with beautiful views of the desert from the patio. Kids can eat popcorn and have prickly pear soda at the Doghouse until 7 pm. Highly recommend the cowboy cookout and breakfast ride. Hikes are informative. My kids enjoyed the little nature center they have on site and the naturalist was informative. There is a small giftshop with t-shirts, cowboy hats and a few essentials if you forgot to pack. There is a bike shop and they can equip you with helmet, gloves, water bottle for mountain biking. Laundry facilities are on-site. Lots of interesting history about the ranch. Tuscon is maybe 15 mins down the road if you need to shop. Also, one of the Saguaro Natl Park visitor centers is just 10 mins down the road. More...

Sunset ride is a must. Lovely.
Tanque Verde Ranch is the real deal - a working ranch. Though the amenities - pool, spa, tennis courts - are comparable to other resorts, choose Tanque Verde for an authentic experience of the Old West. Horseback lessons and trail rides, a nature center where hummingbirds buzz the feeders on the porch, hiking trails, chuck wagon dinners, and a pub for a cold beer at the end of the day. Bring your jeans and buy a proper hat at the gift shop, and live a different life for a day or a week or longer. It’s peaceful and beautiful (don’t be surprised to see a wedding or two). The food is plentiful and really good (and they have it all, from starters to yummy desserts!). If you want to visit the Old West, this is it. More...

I have been coming to this ranch for the last 24 years, and it is truly fantastic. The staff are incredibly nice, the ranch is gorgeous, and the horseback riding (both on ranch property and in Saguaro National Park) is incredible. Highlights include the Cottonwood Grove barbecue cookout, a morning breakfast ride to an historic homestead, wonderful astronomy, silver work classes, nature trail hikes, bicycling, and horseback riding (of both the walk and the lope variety). It's rare to find such a perfect balance of thrills and family friendly relaxation. TVR is possibly the best place on Earth! More...

We loved the ranch. Our room was a one-bedroom suite and was beautiful. Our 5 yr-old loved the kids camp, which allowed my husband and I time together to horseback ride and mountain bike. The dining room service was slow but that was our only complaint. |It was beautiful and so serene. Loved it!! More...

The property is very nice, there was a lot to do just taking in nature around the grounds. I found some of the guests to be a bit uptight, but it was a very nice time spent with my kids exploring.
