Tabla in Ridgewood, NJ is the best Indian restaurant in town. Seating is comfortable and the dining rooms are spacious. Service is outstanding and non-intrusive. The menu lists a great variety of dishes in a most appetizing manner. Food arrives steaming hot and seasoned to your specifications.Tabla is not just another Indian restaurant; it is a category of its own. Went here with my family. We all ordered something different - lamb chops, biryani, tandoori & tikka masala and all really enjoyed it. Portions were good as was the service. My wife and I went there on a Monday night and there were just a handful of people there but that didn't stop the kitchen from making excellent food. It was delicious and we would totally go back again. The atmosphere is bright and easy. The service was very attentive and hospitable. We were very appreciative of all the gluten free options and the server was very patient as we asked lots of questions. Love the BYOB. We've eaten here twice and both visits were outstanding. All of the wait staff is very friendly, super efficient and helpful with the menu. Don't be afraid of allergies here, they know their ingredients so just tell them. Prices are great, especially considering the location, and the food is some of the best Indian I've ever had. We were very excited about a new Indian restaurant that advertised as Upscale dining. It is a lovely space, with beautiful tableware. The food was delicious and we will be back. The only reason I gave 4 of 5 was I was going based upon the OPENING WEEK MENU listed which offers dosas. Sadly, their dosa equipment was re-ordered. We had the tandoori chicken on the bone, Goan salmon curry and two types of naan. All were exceptional. So glad to see a new Indian restaurant in Ridgewood! When you first enter, you are shocked by the non-traditional Indian decor (I did not miss the giant paintings of Mughal emperors and draped fabric! ) that is tastefully done with dark blue walls, black iron Einstein bulb light fixtures, and ceiling medallions. We came for the soft tasting which included a full buffet including classic north Indian dishes such as tandoori chicken (that was juicy), saag paneer (creamy and well spiced), naan (pillowy soft and crisp on the edges), and delicious mango kheer. I'm intrigued by the Indian tapas concept they plan to launch, and anxiously await to see that menu. This would be a great way to introduce friends to Indian food or get a bit of all of your favorite dishes on the menu! Prices are on point for Ridgewood. Best Indian place is Ridgewood. Same owners at Nirvana in Allendale but the menu in Ridgewood is different. We've been there for weekend buffets and also for table service dinner. Both are great. Very good service.

The chana masala is delicious. The first time we ordered it, it was good, but needed a bit more sweetness. The second time, they must have done something different because it was one of the best chana masalas thay I've had! I called to say that whatever they did that day, keep doing! (They added more sweetness to it.)I will agree with one of the posts below, that sometimes the naan is a little crispier/dry and less chewy than some other indian restaurants i've been to, but I think this can be corrected with less cooking time and evem enhanced with some GEE, parsley, and garlic (for those who like the garlic naan!)The staff is very friendly and seems to care a lot about their food and customer experience. The owner kept returning to our table to make sure everything came out alright and even gave us some extra unique desserts to try!Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience and consider Tabla our Go-To for Indian cuisine in the area!
