Q&As

In any job I have had in the past I have always been person focused concerned with how I can help those I work with and those I had contact through my job. Becoming a counsellor, clinical hypnotherapist, and NADA-GB auricular acupuncturist was just a natural progression to my ultimate goal. To make a difference in the world one person at a time.

It's having the freedom to utilize all my life experience and skills and not being restricted, to work where, when and how I see it. While maintaining the highest of standards in accords with the professional bodies I am associated with the National Counselling Society, National Hypnosis Society, Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council, Association Addition Professionals, NADA-GB, and Positive Psychology Guild.

Research suggests that provided the counsellor/therapist is appropriately trained and applying their approach correctly they are likely to achieve the desired outcome. But there are some types of help that work better than others on particular issues. This is why I have adopted a relational integrative approach using motivational interviewing, CBT, person-centred counselling which is strengths-based. Also Utilizing mindfulness, emotional freedom technique, EMDR, hypnotherapy and where appropriate auricular therapy. For the past three years, I have been working with a number of clients with complex and multiple issues and have had good results. What seems to matter most indicate in the research is the relationship between the counsellor/therapist and the client. This is something I have always done well, my client tell me when they feel safe, heard, valued, respected, and supported.

I spent several years volunteering on a helpline for First Steps Mental Health and Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care, I was one of the first adopters of the use of Zoom while working with Cruse Bereavement during the first outbreak of Covid-19, and have hypnotised clients over Teams. I provide both telephone and Teams/Zoom support. The only requirements is that the client has good phone reception and a consistent internet connection and somewhere private where they will not be disturbed during the session.

This issue is only relevant if we are having a face-to-face meeting. Whichever location this may be there will be a requirement for them to have a Covid-19 process in place. The Government guidelines at present states we should treat Covid like the flu. However, should I become ill I intend to perform a flow test, and if positive, I will reschedule. Should a client become ill we can talk about what we should do and may reschedule until after they have recovered.

Services

When I searched for a counsellor, my first thoughts were which person is best? Can they help me? Will they understand my situation? Does the type of therapy matter? The research states that provided the counsellor is correctly trained regardless of approach most will be able to help you, what is really important is the therapeutic relationship.
A little about me to help you consider if I could help you. Most physical and mental health issues do not occur in isolation other factors play their part. Because of my broad life experience, I have a unique skill set to draw on to help you: fitness, nutrition, health promotion, finance, and family life. I work with clients in a way that suits them, Teams, Zoom, face to face, while volunteering for Cruse Bereavement I became accustomed to visiting clients in their homes and can provide this service if you have a suitable and safe environment. The number of sessions varies, can be structured or fluid, and may be restricted to a single approach such as CBT or be integrated depending on your needs and what has been agreed by us.

My counselling approach is integrative person-centred; however, I am certified in Applied Positive Psychology, CBT therapist, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Relational-EMDR, EFT, and Auricular acupuncture NADA-GB.

My specialist fields are Addiction, Bereavement/Loss, and Trauma. Over the years I have helped clients with: Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Cancer, PTSD/ Complex PTSD, OCD, Divorced and Relationship issues, Smoking/ Vaping, Alcohol/Drug and other Addictions, Anger management, Assertiveness/ Self Confidence/ Self-esteem, Aging, Health Issues, Sports Performance, Life Skills and much more.

If you think I could help, we can have a chat to discuss your needs, there is no obligation to use my services.

There are a lot of myths surrounding hypnosis and hypnotherapy. The fact is having worked with a variety of clients over eight years and being an accredited counsellor, CBT therapist, addiction practitioner, trained in Applied Positive Psychology, and auricular therapist. I still find hypnotherapy to be one of the fastest ways and most effective methods to help people overcome a variety of issues.

I work with all Addictions, Phobias, illnesses, Pain, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Sleep, Self-image, PTSD, trauma, Performance -sport/public speaking etc. My approach is integrative, and I use all my knowledge and skills to help not only Hypnosis but also CBT, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, acceptance and compassion therapy, and schema therapy; taking a comprehensive meaning-centered existential therapeutic approach including EMDR, EFT, and auricular therapy to achieve the best outcome for you.
