THEY MADE MY WEDDING CAKE !I was recommended to a different bakery (from a photographer) for my wedding cake and I wasn't happy at that place so I asked a couple different wedding venues I was considering to recommend a bakery and almost every single venue I was considering recommended Swiss Confectionery. We called them on our last day of one of our planning trips to NOLA; 20 minutes later we were at their place because they let us having a tasting with no reservation. They are almost 100 years old and I know why, the cakes are great and the people working here are amazing. We chose their standard Almond Cake with Pineapple Jelly layer (although all the fillings/layers were delicious). We ordered a couple weeks later over the phone and emailed back and forth for the design and colors. We delivered our cake topper to them also and on our wedding day, they delivered the cake with our cake topper perfectly set on top to Antoine's Restaurant for our wedding. We used Swiss for my wedding cake through City Park and they did a great job! It was such an easy process to go to the bakery and pick out what I wanted. They were helpful with deciding how much cake we needed in order to not over do the amount of cake regarding having a groom's cake also. The cake was delicious and light and beautiful! We used Swiss Confectionery for our wedding cake and the experience was excellent from start to finish. I didn't have to make an appointment to do a tasting, and took my friend with me as my fiancé (now husband) was busy at work. The cake was tasty, the designs were nice, the price was right, and the service was on point. My husband and I weren't sure we wanted traditional wedding cake flavor with the almond so I emailed them asking if I could buy a small cupcake or something in their yellow cake flavor. They told me they would have yellow cake the next day and of course no charge to taste it. The cake was delivered early the day of our wedding and looked gorgeous. We received a lot of compliments on how it looked and tasted. Somehow Swiss is one of the most affordable places in town for wedding cake, significantly lower than a lot of the other places we looked at. I am always looking for good cakes! I'd tried them years ago, but nothing stood out to me about the cake. Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I was on Instagram, and saw someone post about how good and fresh the cake was! So I came on Yelp and read some reviews. I decided to get a 4th of July cake to try out, and MY GOODNESS!! I'm a sucker for white almond cake with buttercream icing. This cake was heaven in my mouth :) The crazy part is I almost forgot to order it! I called at 10am July 3rd. I thought sure they weren't going to be able to accommodate me. They took my order and told me it'd be ready after 12:00pm! After growing up in New Orleans and having Swiss' cakes for almost every major event, there was NO WAY I was not going to have my wedding cake be from Swiss; even though my wedding was in Atlanta, GA.

Swiss was 100% on board with my cake vision, and packaged it so that it could be transported from New Orleans to Atlanta. Needless to say, it went off without a hitch, and it was absolutely delicious! Only a few pieces were left!

These guys were amazing!

I was (ashamedly) an indecisive bride...and these guys were great. They were professional and patient. ....and then- the cake was amazing! My guests loved it so much- they asked the caterers to take the leftovers home in boxes!

BEST. CAKE. EVER! My guests were raving about the wedding cake. It was moist and super flavorful. It was sooooo good that my husband and I decided to eat the top right away instead of waiting for our anniversary. We are just going to order a small cake from them again next year! They were easy to work with; we did everything over the phone since I was from out of town (although I did get to go taste it). The cake design was beautiful and classy. Fantastic job!!!

I loved my cakes from Swiss! I had a vision for exactly what I wanted in mind & was very disappointed when a different cake vendor tried to charge an arm and a leg for fondant instead of buttercream . When I went to Swiss, they said the addition of fondant would be 1/3 of what I was previously quoted at the other venue and the bakers were actually excited to make it. I appreciated the intamacy at Swiss, the samples weren't pre-packaged trays, but were fresh from that day's cakes; I felt like they really cared. I also enjoyed their variety of cake pulls beyond the "traditional" ones in a variety of price ranges. The wedding cake was beautiful & very delicious!!
The one issue I had was around the grooms cake. While it looked great under the mood lighting of the venue, when the real lights swapped on we saw that the cake was the wrong color (blue instead of purple). I was pretty disappointed, especially since I provided a color image of what I wanted. My fiancee could still tell what it was supposed to be though, and other than one small detail, they were a fabulous vendor that I would still recommend, although you might want to do a follow up for the more obscure cake ideas. Swiss provided my wedding cake and groom's cake. I wish I had the photo right now to show you. I literally went in with a photo and they made it a reality. It was more beautiful than I imagined! Everyone said that my cake was the most beautiful cake they had ever seen and it also tasted simply amazing. My cake was not the typical swiss cake. This just goes to show you that they can do anything. Don't be fooled by the people that tell you Swiss only does one type of cake....not true. I had a 4 tier, triple layer cake with a pattern that I wanted and fresh flowers in between each layer and on top. The tiers were not all the same shape. I honestly do not know why you would look anywhere else for a wedding cake. Swiss is an New Orleans staple, and will make any bride's vision come to light. They were so professional, and amazing to work with for my April 22nd wedding. All I literally had to do, was pick out my cake and get married! Everything else was taken care of, and that really means a lot - especially for someone that was planning their own wedding, from out-of-town! Also, as a tip to anyone looking - one huge advantage of going with Swiss versus another bakery - is that they have worked with practically every venue in town and because of that I didn't have to worry about having them connect and coordinate with cake delivery and setup the day of. My entire life we have gotten our "big occasion" cakes from Swiss, so my wedding was no different. If you're looking for super fancy, this isn't your place. If you're looking for simple and amazingly delicious, welcome to Swiss. Our cake was not only beautiful, but delicious. We did all three flavors; one on each layer. Swiss Confectionery is a New Orleans staple. My wedding cake tasted like a little piece of heaven. My cake was light and not overly sweet. The wedding cake was beautifully decorated. Swiss Confectionery did not disappoint. Everyone in New Orleans knows that Swiss has good cakes but it is the customer service that exceeded my expectations. I sent my mother in law to choose our cake and keep it a surprise until our reception. The staff was able to help her choose a design and filling. They even helped her locate the cake pulls that she had to have. My sister was impressed that the cake came along with an escort when it was delivered. Their cakes are amazing. Here I am 2.5 years later thinking about the cake they did for my wedding. It was perfect!  Living out of state, and with my upcoming wedding taking place in New Orleans, I talked w/ someone via phone to begin the order process and used fax where needed to send cake details, and then during my visit to the wedding location in NOLA, I stopped by to sample cake. . OMG.  One of the highlights for me on that day.  On the wedding day, they delivered and set the cake up.  It smelled w/ delight, was made to order, and I loved it.  I opted for simplicity, but it was by far the best cake I and my new husband and guests had.Our top-layer (1st year anniversary cake) was just as fresh as the day of the wedding!   Can't wait to visit home again with hopes to indulge in their cake. Swiss made my wedding cake and my groom cake. My wedding cake was beautiful. It was exactly how I wanted, and it tasted so moist and delicious. We absolutely loved our cakes! I was able to take one of their designs, pick my own colors (which they provide color chips to choose from, clipped a sample, and saved with our order), make a few adjustments, and make it ours! Having some artistic background, I especially appreciated the color chips as it allowed me to pick specific shades rather than just saying blue and purple. And the cakes tasted just as I remembered from the tasting.

If you are looking for great service, great cake, and a great experience: go to Swiss Confectionery! They may not be as big name brand as others in the New Orleans area (or at least they weren't to me before), but Swiss Confectionery provides a great taste for a great price, and doesn't nickle-and-dime you. Their pricing is very simple and easy to understand.

The amount we spent with our vendor includes both our wedding cake and grooms cake with about 150 servings combined.

(P.S. I did also have a tasting with Gambino's on Veterans in Metairie, had a bad experience, wrote them a review and they had it taken down because I couldn't provide a receipt of service - I didn't buy anything because of the bad service!) More...

It was on the last day of our wonderful trip to New Orleans that we discovered Swiss Confectionary by chance. In the style of true southern hospitality, Don, one of the members of the family who has owned this bakery for 95 years, embraced our touristy questions with open arms. He told us tales of their history while we marveled over their custom cakes prepared for multiple special events. As we were about to leave, he gave us a box of petifores to try on our way back home. We traveled from Louisville Kentucky to New Orleans for my boyfriend's 50th Bday. Swiss went out of their way to make us a certain cake. They nailed it!! We knew we wants to use Swiss from the beginning, it was only a matter of tasting their cakes, fillings, and how we wanted it to look! We went in for a cake tasting, choose traditional with a strawberry filling and we were NOT disappointed. The service during the cake tasting wasn't the best, as we waiting around for a while, but our service with them after that was fine. And the cake was delicious! We also weren't big on having a cake topper, so they created a beautiful gold bow made of fondant to go on top. They incorporated gold ribbon we wanted as well, which we purchased from Michaels. Ordered a birthday cake to be delivered to our hotel for my boyfriend as a surprise and everything worked out. He loved the cake - the flavor was very good (almond cake with white icing).
