Swensen Wedding Services

Beware – horrible service! Swensens is a family managed company with Paul and Eric Swensen being the primary points of contact. Eric also serves as DJ. We contracted Swensens for a photographer, Photo-booth and DJ. Photographer and Photobooth were wonderful, but the DJ service was awful. In fact, Eric the DJ ruined the bride's special moment. Every bride dreams on the moment when she first appears at the ceremony. Our bride sure did. In fact, she carefully selected the music, choreographed the times when each member of the bridal party would start to walk and timed her appearance to a key point in the song. All of this was typed up, minute by minute, and emailed to Eric the DJ. When she had her first call with him, it was clear he hadn't read what she sent so we scheduled another call. But Eric didn't call. After repeated tries to reach him, he said he misunderstood the time and said he'd call the next day - no call came. After frantic calls, texts and email, we finally ended up talking with him the day before the wedding! He assured us that he got all the details from the email and was all set. When we expressed our concerns, he said ‘I do this all the time. Don’t worry.” We knew we were in trouble as soon as the procession started. He was playing toe WRONG music. The mother of the bride had to get up from her seat and run and tell him to switch but by then it was too late. He didn’t have the right song queued up. One bridesmaid walked to silence, and the bride’s moment that she had so carefully planned was lost forever. If that had been the only issue, we might have rolled with it. But throughout the night, other things were not as we had requested. We had asked for 'classy dinner music - like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, etc' - he was playing pop music! He didn't get names of the wedding party correct; he got the father-of-the -brides name wrong when introducing the toast. He didn't get the dances started till we asked him why there was a delay in getting things going. Another example, the bride and groom had explicitly said no songs with the ‘N’ word. It was in every email the bride had sent Eric, but yet, he played it. The bride had to go stop a song! Each time he had an excuse – “there was no one telling him when to start songs for the procession”, “we said he could plan explicit versions of songs after 10pm”. But it was clear he wasn't prepared. He just showed up and did his usual routine - even if it wasn't what we had requested. He made sure he got paid though and then left without another word. I delayed posting this review until we got our photographs. In fact, the photographer let us know they were done and that we’d be getting them from Eric the DJ! We waited and waited and finally started texting and calling to see where the pictures were. After 9 days, we finally got a call from Eric saying he’d put the flash drive in the mail. Again, we waited another 5 days but still nothing. We called again and said we were coming to his office to get them that evening. He said he wasn’t there but he’d overnight them to us. We did finally get them. But it took weeks and many calls to get them to fulfill the contract. This lack of professionalism was beyond frustrating. The only time they were responsive was in making the initial sale and collecting their money. Swensens might do this kind of work weekend after weekend, but this isn't a routine day for the bride/groom and their family; this is their once-in-a-lifetime event. I hope Swensens understands that what they do matters and that they need to take it seriously and be more professional. I also hope to save another bride the same missed moment. Swensens Wedding Services thank you for doing such an amazing job at our wedding. You guys kept everyone out of their seats and onto the dance floor. Eric was amazing at our wedding. We were very impressed with his patience and how outgoing he was throughout the day. He kept the guests involved and gave us back so much that we missed with all the common wedding chaos. Go with Swensens, you will not regret it. More...
