Sweet Auburn is a great local BBQ joint. They have a rotating selection of local brews, great cocktail specials, and all the hipster aesthetics you could desire in the Poncey Highlands dominion. The staff is all super nice. It's a busy restaurant - and neighborhood haunt- but I usually don't have any trouble getting a table. Definitely one of the stand out restaurants in the Poncey-Highlands neighborhood. Great if you want authentic barbecue or if you’d prefer a twist on the norm. Stopped in on a whim and left with full bellies. I would have left 5 stars had the wait staff been a bit better. I ordered fatty brisket and was served the lean cut. Went on a Sunday afternoon and was seated immediately. Fast service, great barbecue sandwich, cheesy mac n cheese but the collard greens seemed to be diced which is not the norm for typical "southern" style collards. Went to Sweet Auburn during the Atlanta Film Festival. The food was AMAZING! Brisket is really melt-in-your mouth and the mac and cheese is perfect. Most places around here have their brisket "pulled apart" but theirs is chopped, Texas style, which is what I prefer. 3 different sauces, one sweet, one spicy, & the last very vinegar based (Carolina style). The string beans will have you begging for more. If my mother would've cooked string beans in bacon fat I would've ate my vegetables every time. ,the food is great and the sweet tea is perfect. Sweet Auburn Barbecue catered our son and daughter-in-law's wedding rehearsal dinner this past Friday evening at Rogers Bridge Park. The food was amazing and the staff was super friendly and easy to work with. They wanted nothing more than to help make this special occasion a success. I had made a special dessert request of banana pudding in mason jars and it was AWESOME. The service was fast and everyone really enjoyed it.
