Susannah is amazing! I recently had 3 photoshoots with 3 different photographers in 2 months and she is by far as the best! Not only does she make you feel absolutely incredible before, during, and after the shoot, but her pictures are exceptional. She is truly a professional, unlike a lot of these so-called photographers that just show up with a camera without a real clue of what to do or rush you through some basic pictures. Her photoshop skills are great as well. She communicates a ton with you before the shoot to insure you get what you want. The one thing I don't like about Susannah is that she is so far away from Baltimore. I hired her a few years ago to take some office shots for use on the website and in collateral material. She not only has a wonderful demeanor, but she has the eye of a true artist. Anyone can point a camera and take a picture. It is a rare person indeed who can turn the mundane into magic, and Susannah is one of those people. It was THE BEST decision to hire Susannah as our wedding photographer! She has done an excellent job, and we have created memories for a lifetime. Susannah has been in touch all the way through, setting up shot lists, talking about details. She is very detail-oriented, and she asked for our input and ideas for everything. She checked in with us before the wedding, and the days leading up to the big day. She even stopped by at the hair salon where I was getting ready (this was not part of our arrangements). Susannah's photojournalistic approach is amazing, and her photos can "talk" saving precious emotional and funny moments of the entire day. We decided to add a bridal shoot after the wedding, and Susannah has given us great advise for that as well. We had so much fun, and again created beautiful images. Susannah is not only an amazing and talented photographer but also one of the kindest and most genuine person I have ever met.
She truly loves doing photography and it shows in all of her work.
I gave her very little notice about our session and no time to prepare and she still gave me the most beautiful shots of my daughter and I which she shot in literally 5 minutes. I didn't even think that was possible but it is with her.
She works great with little kids as well, my daughter still talks about her and our mini session and how she wants to pose more for Miss Susannah.
We have had so many positive comments on our pictures how they should be in a magazine and how amazing and professional they are.
We will have every single picture she took hanging on our walls.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Taking a great photograph is so much more than clicking the shutter button! The most important thing I do as a photographer is allow my subject to feel at ease and relaxed. I love to chat during a session and find out more about my clients, and tell them more about my life! It helps to connect and allow people to feel relaxed.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I want to know exactly what your vision is for our shoot and what your expectations are. What do you want to do with the images from our session? Do you need digital files, and if so, what size? Do you have ideas for the location (do we want indoor studio or outside with natural lighting and the beautiful Colorado backdrop?). When do you need to have these images edited and delivered by? I want to get a crystal clear vision of what your expectations are for our shoot so I can make that happen!
What do you love most about your job?
I get to meet and connect with fantastic and interesting people every day, and no two shoots are even remotely the same. My job has taken me all over the world, throughout 17 countries in Africa and to The White House to photograph important people, and every day people. I love that every new day is a different project. I also get to use my creativity each and every day, which is an enormous benefit for me. And I love being my own boss!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I love being able to make all of the important decisions myself.
Why should our clients choose you?
I shoot in a photo-documentary style which means I capture it as I see it! I like minimal posing and recording moments as they unfold. I worked at both The White House and CBS News in Washington, DC as part of the press during the end of GW Bush’s presidency and the beginning of Obama’s. I also interviewed at National Geographic at that time, but did not pursue that opportunity and decided instead to move to England to work as a contractor for the US Army. I was based at an intelligence military base outside of London, photographing for NATO and for US Africa Command. I photographed all throughout Africa under 4 star generals and African presidents (I think my tally is 17 countries so far!), documenting American military training African military on radio and communications throughout Africa.
I have always done portrait work on the side because I love it. While stationed in England, I was able to shoot family and wedding work in Amsterdam, London, Paris, and Switzerland. I have been shooting professionally since 2002, so I’m very well versed in capturing images in the moment and work very quickly, especially with young children. Know that you will be receiving a stellar product when we shoot together!
