Once again, Susan Kane knocked it out of the park for our surprise cocktail party for my father in law's 75th birthday party at our home. She was easy to plan and communicate with. Her menu was spectacular and our guests couldn't stop talking about how delicious every bite was, from the passed hors d'oevres to the sit down dinner and dessert. Her staff is punctual, fun and very professional. We recently hired Susan to cater my husband's birthday party in Weston, CT. We live in Chicago, so it was a bit of a challenge finding someone who shared my vision and was willing to keep taking and giving suggestions until the menu was exactly what we wanted. Susan not only delivered on every promise, she went above and beyond to ensure that this day was fantastic for our entire extended family. The food was outstanding and presented so creatively. It was my misfortune to have engaged Susan Kane for a Commitment/wedding ceremony in July. She arrived very late. She knew my party was set to begin at 1 pm with a ceremony before 2 pm. The bar was not set up by the time ny guests arrived and no food was available until almost 1:30. I had chosen some pricy passed hor d'oeuvres like mini lobster rolls and wagu beef sliders. Most of my guests never received any of those and were surprised to learn they had been passed. There were maybe 30 to 35 guests. I had contracted for 50 people so there was no excuse to run out! My special day was perfect: the weather, the music and the flowers! But definitely not the food. The crepes were served cold and rubbery and I was shocked that for whipped cream; a can of ready Whip was put on the table! It was incredibly unprofessional! Susan Kane catered my commitment/ wedding ceremony yesterday July 9th 2022. I had been planning the day for months. Susan and staff showed up very late. My guests arrived at a 1 pm to the bar not set up and NO food available until 1:30. No one received all of the pricy passed hors d'oeuvres; not even me. Everything; even our service got delayed by the caterers slow start. Lunch was barely acceptable but the cold soggy crepes were awful. And when confronted; instead of taking responsibility, Susan lied and became hostile. She even insisted that she had arrived at 11:15. But I have my text message to her at 11:25 asking where she is! Susan Kane just catered my wedding for my husband and I on Saturday September 11th. We had a gorgeous wedding outside in Niantic at McCook Park. It is very hard to have an outside wedding these days and having the menu that we really wanted. We had an appetizer wedding which included a lot of high-end appetizers. We had some issues with the rentals that I got from Taylor Rental but Susan and her staff made it work and the food was absolutely amazing. Their staff hustled all day and everyone enjoyed their scrumptious and delectable food!! If you think you can't have an elegant wedding outside, think again. We had everything from tuna, lobster rolls crab cakes pulled chicken, beef sliders, Etc. The charcuterie station was to die for!! You cannot believe the amount of food that we had and the quality. I have used a lot of catering companies in the Connecticut area. I have had great experiences ordering catered food over the phone and supporting local businesses, especially during COVID! I thought I'd call Susan Kane Catering to support a local business and order hors d'ourves for a small cocktail party. I called and a woman picked up the phone and she seemed perfectly nice. We started talking about what date I was looking for and how busy they are with the holiday season approaching. As soon as the woman asked me how many people I was catering for, all she said was "Oh, no thank you! We can't accommodate that" and I said "Ok goodbye." It was a pleasure working with Susan Kane Catering. She did a wonderful job catering my Mom's memorial service reception. The reception was held at Jesse Lee Methodist Church's Carriage House . She had wonderful ideas to make the food and presentation memorable. The mini Lobster Salad rolls were incredible along with the shredded potato pancakes. Her staff was very professional and made sure all of our guests had a wonderful. We also offered the Virgin Bloody Mary Bar which surprised and delighted our guests. Susan did an incredible job catering my big Brooklyn wedding (160 guests). Throughout the entire planning process Susan was attentive, passionate, and I knew that she truly cared about providing us and our guests with exceptional food and service. Long story short - I'm not easy to please and I can't recommend Susan Kane Catering highly enough. After an extensive search of NYC based caterers I was ready to give up on my dream of a bespoke Brooklyn wedding because nobody was able to work within my budget. Then I found Susan. After our tasting we knew we had found someone who was up to the challenge. She helped us create the perfect menu to accommodate a variety of food allergies and diet preferences, and was a wiz at finding creative ways to keep costs down without diminishing the elegant, bespoke tone we wanted for our event. When it came to rentals, Susan worked tirelessly to find us the best prices. My wedding was in a large "raw space" venue, meaning there was a separate prep space but no ovens or stoves, so not only did Susan have to coordinate all of my rentals for linens, bar glasses, dishes, utensils, etc., but she also had to plan and source all kitchen equipment needed for the evening. Almost without exception, everyone I talked to during and after my wedding commented on how good the food was. Susan and her crew not only served delicious food, but they flawlessly kept the evening running smoothly. Her staff was very attentive and made sure our older, less mobile guests (like my 92 year old grandma) had everything they needed throughout the night. Susan also made sure me and my husband got to eat! While everyone else was enjoying passed appetizers and cocktails, we were taking photos. Susan put together a beautiful sampler of all the appetizers for us and our bridal party to enjoy in our dressing room while we finished photos and signed our marriage license. I really loved my experience with Susan because she was willing to work closely with me in creating the perfect reception for our wedding. Our wedding was a bit different because the guests were comprised of people who were used to a very Korean-style wedding and culture as well as people who were used to a very American-style wedding and culture. Susan was open to changing her approach in order to suit the needs and style of our wedding, while also balancing her desire to make sure that the event was held to a high standard. I valued her feedback and input greatly because there were several decisions she helped us make that made the flow of the reception go smoothly. Also, when I met her staff on the day of the wedding I was so impressed at their professionalism, kindness, and warmth. They worked really hard to set up all the tables and centerpieces the way I envisioned, and they really impressed (and surprised) me with how beautifully they decorated the sweetheart table - especially since my friend had brought a lovely sign for decoration! They each made me feel that they wanted the best for us and our guests and it made our experience with Susan Kane Catering very memorable!We were also very impressed with the quality of the food - Susan worked with us to make sure that we had delicious options for everyone. When we asked for a vegetarian option, she created an incredibly tasty (and popular) pasta dish! It was actually my favorite thing on the menu, as well as the rolls with butter. My husband's favorite dish was the NY style skirt steak! And the guests, both Korean and American, loved all the different dishes, which was something I had been worried about. This is a long overdue post highly recommending Susan! She catered our son’s graduation party in May at the Elk’s Club in Danbury (also highly recommend as a venue for a party). Susan was so helpful in organizing the menu, the table set up, organizing what needed to be rented and everything! I did not have to do anything upon arrival because Susan and her crew had it taken care of. Now for the important part of the review... the food! It was excellent!! Ok, Im going to be very real with you all right now, to whom ever is deciding on wether to have Susan as your caterer, YOU MUST HAVE HER! When you think of catered food, you think, ehh, its gonna be ok, how good can it actually be? Well, Susan catered my wedding, and she put on one heck of a food display show! Not only was she the kindest human you can possibly meet, everything she made tasted phenomenal! She met with me and my wife, listened to everything we wanted, and them took all of her knowledge about cooking and created some of the best food you could have at a wedding.  And, you may think I'm just saying this, just to say this because she catered my wedding, BUT NO! people who attended the wedding were actually shocked and amazed at how delicious the food was! And the best part, was that it was made from her own recipes and it really did feel as if it was a home cooked, fresh meal.  My wife and I wanted food that we enjoyed eating, and we didn't want the typical beef/steak, chicken, and a salad type meal.  We wanted salads, different fishes, pastas, a cheese table and good breads and Susan really stepped up to plate and created one amazing meal.  If you read this, and are trying to figure out who to choose, I get it, the whole process can be challenging. Susan did a great job on our daughters wedding. She worked with us on the menu to ensure the right food and enough and was flexible to work with our suggestions. On the day of the affair she and her staff were efficient, polite and ensured food was available and plentiful without getting in the way and being noticed. The food was served at the correct temperature and tasted great which doesnt happen often at catered affairs (we received numerous compliments). Susan Kane catered and managed a party for my husband's birthday at the Burr Mansion in Fairfield. She helped me find the venue, arranged the rental and delivery of tables, chairs, linens, etc,, also helped make arrangements for purchase and delivery of wine and other beverages, making the process of throwing a party for 90 people anxiety-free for me! She referred me to a fantastic DJ who was perfect for the party, and decorated the rooms at the Burr with pictures and other items that I had provided. Food was fantastic, all the guests raved about the ahi tuna and the beef tenderloin stations that Susan provided, she also ordered the most delicious cake and had it delivered, along with "small bite" desserts that were scrumptious too. I was recently a bridesmaid at a wedding catered by Susan Kane Catering. The food was okay, but it was buffet style and there weren't any heating trays or anything to keep the food warm, so even though I was part of the first table to go up, the food was already room temperature. The caterers serving the food used the vegetable tongs on the steak to separate pieces, and then continued to use them in the vegetables. The bride was told that during cocktail hour while the wedding party was taking pictures, there would be someone coming around with food/appetizers for us, but that never happened. Once we were off waiting for the reception, a waiter came up with one drink order and one tray of appetizers, but never came back. The bartender seemed very unhappy to be there, and was rude to me and other guests. When I asked for a lime for my drink he pushed it down so that half of his finger was in my drink! The bride and groom tipped in advance, so obviously he felt there was no other reason to try to deliver quality customer service. The supervisor who was there dropped a tray of drinks down my back and purse while I was sitting eating dinner at the beginning of the reception. She did apologize and offer to pay to clean my purse. When I contacted Susan she said the same thing, but 3 months later I still have not received any compensation. The bride and groom said Susan was responsive to their questions at first, but later on they had trouble getting a quick response from her.
