Overview
Philip Warrington is a qualified mechanical engineer, business management consultant with an MA in Business. His career began with an engineering apprenticeship in capital plant. In his early career, he won the ‘British Apprentice of the Year Overseas Scholarship’ and the ‘Halifax Award’. This was followed by management development starting with hands on departmental turn-rounds, focusing on people and process. He has worked on four continents and managed at Board level (both executive and non-executive) in metrology, capital plant, oil and gas, medical and electronics.

Background
Since he started consulting 26 years ago, he has been counselling and advising on efficiencies in manufacturing, service industries and government departments including a Regional Development Agency, the National Health Service and divisions of the Ministry of Defence. He has specialist skills in re-arranging organisations and developing people to move towards ‘Lean’ management, and has delivered presentations in the UK and Europe on Process Improvement and Management Systems.
In the past, Philip has worked closely with the regional delivery providers and his operation helped in the development of the regional manufacturing advisory service, and as such has been a preferred supplier for the delivery of key parts of the MAS programme. From his intervention projects he has presented at MAS events from his case study file. He also sits on a number of management boards mentoring and coaching executives to improve performance.
Performance improvement has been achieved by building the capability of senior management teams to develop and successfully implement high growth strategies. In some instances he has focused the top team on the translation of ideas into commercial opportunities. This approach has enabled organisational development and improved the capability of the senior management team to sustain fast and profitable growth. The focus has been geared towards achieving real change and improved results by enhancing/developing the skills levels of managers. The learning, new management techniques and improved business process disciplines has helped operations to overcome the challenges to future growth
Philip has helped operations to raise the finance that they need to drive growth. This was achieved by helping businesses to understand the needs of investors and to develop detailed funding propositions as well as the necessary skills to present these plans effectively.
